About Tammy

Both of us are 'Yankees'! New Jersey (what exit?) & Ohio (Go Buckeyes), transplanted to sunny South Florida in the 70's. Missing the change of seasons and starting over, we both moved to the mountains in 1995 and 1996 respectively. Known as 'halfbacks' here. (we only made it half way back to the north.) We do love the mountains and all they have to offer. We have 6 children between us and 6 grandchildren, almost 7. So we are kid friendly and also pet friendly. Spencer, our rescued lab mix fur baby is anxious to make friends with your fur baby.

Tammy purchased this cottage in 2005

Why Tammy chose Bryson City Area

The Cottage was originally bought for an aging parent, so they could come to the mountains to be near us. After all the kids left home, (yes we are empty nesters,) we toyed with the idea of starting The Cottage and that is how it came to fruition. We have just finished our 7th year and we are looking forward to future years. The new friends we have made, have been a blessing.

What makes this cottage unique

Built in 1925, is has been totally renovated, keeping some of the old qualities, the original porcelain farm sink and table in the kitchen to the original old doors and doorknobs, all in working order. Some of the old windows hang on the wall as added decor. We are convenient to downtown and all the surrounding area attractions. Yet it is quiet and relaxing. Weather you're sitting on the porch listening to the sounds of the mountains or sitting by the campfire enjoying hotdogs and marshmallows. The summer months bring an incredible light show of lightening bugs for the children to enjoy and catch in what we call the lower forty.

This Place is FANTASTIC!

  • 5 of 5

This place is so charming, quiet and peaceful yet it is just seconds away from Bryson City and the restaurants as well as being located next to all of the attractions in the area. The Cottage is very comfy, beautifully decorated and extremely clean. Loved the fact that it was pet friendly, and had plenty of room for our truck and trailer (we hauled up our Harley). The owners are wonderful. We felt like it was our home away from home. We will be definitely being returning in the near future. Kudos to Tammy and Danny! (Owners)

This place has more charm and character than I ever expected. If you want a place with old country charm and feel, but without the faux rustic trappings of the tourist traps. Everything was decorated tastefully and with just enough antique touches to transport me back to childhood days with my great grandmother.

The house was in great shape, immaculately clean, and in a great location. Less than three minutes outside of town it was comfortably close but felt well isolated. I would definitely come back.

My only complaint was the wifi. With my cellphone and laptop it seemed slow. However, another guest had no issue with their Kindle.

You can easily walk to town plenty of places to eat and drink if you like to.The area is ideal place to explore the smokey mountains and road to nowhere. Tammy and Danny are helpful knowledgable and great hosts especially for some Australians which where there for the first time. Thankyou again enjoyed your stay

The Cottage was just the perfect place for us and our two grandsons. It was home-like and comfortable and clean and Tammy had stocked it with everything anyone could possibly need. The kitchen had full size stove, refrigerator, and dishwasher and washer and dryer which came in very handy. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom and shower were roomy. Tammy and Danny were perfect hosts - friendly, accommodating, and they welcomed us as if we were family. Our grandsons really enjoyed the pool, Spencer the Dog, and smores around the fire pit in the back yard. Tammy and Danny helpfully made several great recommendations for restaurants and attractions. Pasqualino's Italian Restaurant was superb. And don't miss the Bear Museum in Cherokee. The Cottage is located just a five minute drive to the Great Smokey Mountains Railroad Depot in downtown Bryson City and about a 20 minute drive to Cherokee. I would recommend The Cottage to everyone.

The Perfect Place

  • 5 of 5

The Cottage is just over a stone's throw to downtown Bryson City so you can literally walk to town if necessary. Tammy and Danny are the ultimate hosts, and truly make you feel welcome. They live right next door, making it very convenient if you need something, have a question, or just feel like sharing a bit about your day. The Cottage has everything you need for a very comfortable visit, and many of little extras that make you feel a bit special. Best of all, it is very, very clean. It is my "go-to" spot whenever I visit the area. They are the Best!
