Unique and Historical Townhouse
Dating back to the 14th century this mansion 2km north of Deià has been the home of the archbishop of Palma. The village itself has only few houses and this is the pre-ultimate before the sea. The house and the tower, which was used as a pirate lookout, has been restored with exquisite taste (a mix of Moorish and bohemian style and featured in several architectural and living magazines).
Floor Plans: There are different levels with terracotta tiled floors, thick ancient walls and wood beamed ceilings, an internal patio for dining outdoors and a sun terrace with views to the sea. There are fire places in the main sitting room and master bedroom, under floor heating throughout and the property is equipped with telephone/fax, WI-FI, TV, DVD and 4 music systems.
This house is also especially suited for the winter season, the light is awesom in these days and the atmosphere inside is very cosy due to the thick walls, the floor heating and the fire places.
Open plan dining/sitting room with fire place and kitchen opening onto covered dining area of the patio.
Office and access to sun terrace. Master double bedroom with sitting area, ceiling fan and fire place. Windows opening onto patio and sea view. En-suite bathroom with separate shower and separate WC. Above the bedroom is a walk-in wardrobe.
The studio is on the same level with a desk from where you have sea view.
Some steps lead to the terrace with a breath taking view to the sea. Even at the hottest days you have a light wind up here from the sea.
Sitting/bedroom with small bathroom again with beautiful view.
Very romantic 4 poster bedroom with fantastic sea views from 14 small windows around the room.
Surrounding: The beach is a walk of 10 min away and reached through a pretty olive grove.
Deya with its 10 Restaurants, 3 of them with a Michelin star, many bars, art shops and the famous Hotel Residencia with its Restaurants, Spa and tennis court is 2km away.
I am partly living in Mallorca and then either stay in this house or in Palma.
Owner Uscha purchased this villa in 1982
The exquisite decoration shows that I did not buy and build this property to rent, but as I also own a Palace in Palma I can switch from one place to the other.
I enjoy the highly protected coast, the beauty of the nature and the total tranquility of my historic place. It is my perfect hideaway and only 5 min away from the very special 'scene' in Deià.
What an amazing home. It was 3 days before I stopped getting lost amongst the various staircases and hiding places. We had some concerns as we were there with a 2 and a 4 year old (who absolutely loved the "jungle" garden), however the house and grounds were perfectly secure and safe. The walk down to the coves wasnt at all challenging and well worth it for a swim in the Crystal clear waters. I feel sorry for the few residents of this hamlet as on the weekend their little bit of paradise is over-run by "in the know" locals. You will need a car but make sure it isnt a big one as parking is interesting.
This was our second visit to Uscha's historical and beautiful home. We have fallen completely in love! The property is an architectural gem and the picturesque setting in Llucalcari is exceptional. The quality of the interior design, combined with historical charm, idyllic views and a magical secret garden make Uscha's home the perfect place to relax and unwind. Step across the enchanting entryway under a cascade of purple bougainvillea and you have entered paradise. Uscha's warm welcome and generous spirit are reflected in every aspect of her unique and stunning home. Not only does it allow you to discover the beauty of the world it also allows you to experience the beauty of the soul.
A wonderful house , lovingly decorated. An incomparable Patio. Nice views. Very friendly owner. Also nice neighbours. There is nothing to criticize . We are very happy to return.
We had the most wonderful stay in Uscha's beautiful home. Every window opened on to a stunning view, with the Mediterranean Sea beckoning us! Uscha's house is elegantly appointed with great attention shown in every detail. A few short steps from the house a winding path leads down through the hills terraced with olive groves to a secret cove. We had an idyllic time savoring the beauty in every moment. Uscha is a thoughtful and generous host and we are already planning to return to this magical spot!
As a lover of travel and authenticity to a location, I highly recommend this beautiful villa. When I travel, whether with friends or family, I seek the experience of living in a location as a local would. This property has all that and allows you to step back 600 years in time and enjoy living in the most wonderful building. We traveled with 2 teens and a younger child, and we all adored the villa. There are plenty of beautiful alcoves to sit with your book, or a glass of wine, or your computer (teens! who loved the WIFI). My youngest and I awoke each morning to see what had bloomed. The garden is filled with orange trees and flowers. My husband and I enjoyed early morning walks through the most beautiful wooded trails. One can walk for hours and never get lost.
The owner, Uscha, is lovely. She extends her home to you. I say "Home" because you feel that you are a guest in her home. It is filled with warmth, beauty, and great energy. There is a significant damage deposit, which was returned fully the day after we returned to the US. You can be sure that Uscha is a person that you can deal with in full confidence.
The villa is a 5 minute drive, or 25 minute walk, to Deia, the closest town. The villa itself is in LLucalacari which is a small enclave of well kept stone homes. Llucalacari is a gem. Deia is lovely. The small market in Deia is run by a local family. They are a delight!
We did venture to Soller nearby, and enjoy the market and lively shops. Port de Soller was a bit touristy for our taste, but glad we went. We also went up north to Pollencia and Port de Pollencia. We went east to the caves, and at the request of the teens, to the Plajta de Palma beach area. We also visited Valdemossa and Estellenica. All towns were worth a visit. We went down to Palma, which has a fun pedestrian only labyrinth of shops behind he beautiful Cathedral. For those looking to bring back some nice findings, the pedestrian only area is a lot of fun to meander through.
As I've said, I'm a lover of travel. With so many places in the world, it's hard to choose returning or discovering a new find. I can say that someday, I hope to return to Mallorca, to this beautiful property, and enjoy the magic once again!
We stayed 3 weeks at the beautiful “Torre Del Mar”. My husband and I, plus our 2 teenage kids, were greeted by Uscha personally on our arrival, and were delighted by her warm hospitality and vibrant personality. Uscha’s property is stunning, beautifully and tastefully decorated to please the eye while still maintaining the integrity and richness of its historical charm. As Americans who are used to lots of shiny modernity, we were captivated by the 600-yr-old history of this authentic Mallorcan villa. Such a treat for us to get to live as Mallorcans in this small hamlet outside of the little town of Deia, even if for just a brief period! I’m sure many are content to just sip wine and listen to beautiful music in Uscha’s courtyard or on her lovely roof garden. But we are an incessantly-active family, and we utilized Uscha’s house as a comfortable and relaxing home base for excursions to the Caves of Drach, walks to the pristine and beautiful beach beneath her house, tennis lessons at the elegant Residencia Inn, tours of the homes of Robert Graves and Archduke Luis Salvador and a couple of lovely evenings in the near-by and very relaxed beach town of Port Soller. 5-star restaurants included the one at the Residencia Inn, the one at San Marroig (with arguably the most spectacular view on the island), and a very elegant and exclusive restaurant perched high on its own hill at the Valldemossa Hotel. Our very favorite restaurant was one that was practically sitting on the ocean, family-run by three generations of Mallorcans, with the freshest grilled fish you’ve ever tasted. You would never find it unless you knew exactly where to look for it, or unless Uscha tells you where it is and how to get there– so I am not going to tell you the name of it here! Oh – and don’t miss the local festivals – one of our personal highlights was witnessing the Procession of Santa Catalina Thomas in the small town of Valldemossa, where hundreds of townspeople came out, from the young to the old, dressed in authentic period attire from the1600’s, and joyfully marched through the streets of the town, accompanied by classical band music, incense and bearing a statue of the town’s patron saint. Also the International Music Festival of Deia with a concert in the centuries-old ballroom at San Marroig! Thank you, Uscha, for sharing your jewel of a villa with us. It is a very special place and you are a very special lady!
