What is fascinating about this part of Sonoma County is the constant evolution of food and wineries. Just within a few mile radius there are several renowned wineries. Graton and Sebastopol both offer a wide range of culinary and shopping opportunities.
From a recreational standpoint, there are many beautiful bike rides, some on roads, some off-road and some on dedicated bike paths. The Russian River is nearby with all the water activities it is famous for. Armstrong Grove has its 1,000 year old trees to roam around and explore. Santa Rosa, home of Charlie Brown and Snoopy, has a wonderful ice skating rink left to us by Charles Shultz himself.
People have visited our house for a variety of reason: vacation, Russian River, wine country, weddings, Bodega Bay, visit children at Sonoma State University, family reunions. I am a bilingual math teacher and father of an 14 year old boy. We live in San Francisco. I grew up in this Sebastopol house. My favorite activities include water sports, kempo karate, and skiing with my son. I spend as much time as possible in Sonoma County because I find it so beautiful and interesting.
Glenn Kenyon purchased this house in 1973
I love Sonoma County. I love the Russian River area, Sebastopol and the coast. I love riding my bike around the area and discovering new restaurants and wineries. I also love just hanging out on our property, watching the birds and relaxing under the redwood tree I planted nearly 40 years ago.
This house is in a wonderful location. It is 5 minutes from Sebastopol in one direction and 5 minutes from the Russian River in the other. Right in front of our house is Mom's Apple Pies, a restaurant and bakery founded by the mother of one of my high school classmates. And the garden that our caretaker puts in each summer is amazing.
We had a wonderful time at the Sebastopol House last week. The weather was ideal and the location was central to our interests. My son, Kenyon Lorbati and daughter, Amy Lorbati, joined us for a relaxing and fun get-together. We visited Occidental, Guerneville, Healdsberg, Bodega Bay, Armstrong State Forest, and several times, Sebastopol. Shopping and wine-tasting filled in any spare time not spent reading, writing, drawing, chatting or just resting in the hammock. The beds were comfy and we slept well with the cool nights.
We enjoyed great food in area restaurants and grilled outside for 3 of our dinners at home. I appreciated the well-equipped kitchen as we cooked meals together. The garden, chickens, sunflowers and stable added to the fun. Cecilia was friendly and helpful. Her gift of fresh eggs provided the best breakfast scramble we’d ever had. We returned the favor to the chickens as we ate lots of veggies and fruit and rewarded the hens (and rooster) with scraps. My niece and family (2 teenagers) stayed Friday and Saturday night. The boys and adults had a great time playing cards and games, and making S’mores at night.
We all fell in love with the little black kitten.
We enjoyed a weekend stay here while attending a wedding nearby. Other than some rickety kitchen drawers we had no real complaints. The people in our group under 3 years and over 60 loved the chickens and crowing roosters; the thirty-somethings, not so much. The weather was beautiful and cool in mornings and evenings and hot during the day, necessitating sitting under the large redwoods in the rear. Lots of shaded outdoor seating provided a great venue for a picnic. Beds were comfortable and the house was very clean.
Interactions with owner were all prompt and courteous. We would recommend this property to anyone who likes a rural setting not too far from town.
My family and I enjoyed staying at this property. The owner was very helpful and provided good customer service. The manager lives on the grounds, next door. The house was larger than expected, the rooms and the kitchen were a very good size. There are two eateries directly across the street, one is a sandwich shop and the other a pastry shop. It is convenient if you are hungry and didn't want to get into your car and drive.
The only downside was the hot tub and the BBQ needed to be cleaned.
Our group of friends stayed here while attending a nearby wedding one day and going wine tasting another day. It was a great home for our stay in Sonoma County!
This house had what we need for a great vacation. We rented this house because it slept eight people. My wife and I wanted to show some of out friends the Russian River valley and the location is perfect for it. It was in the middle of all the action, close to Sebastabal, Santa Rosa, and Tomales Bay. Everythign in 45 min. Had wine, beer, oysters, and cheese. We used the kitchen every morning and all but one night of the four nights we stayed. We even grilled out in the Webber charcoal grill. I had more than a few emails back and forth with the owner and they always responded back. Check in was easy and check out was sad because we could not stay. Rent this house if you have a big group.
This house was exactly what we were looking for a little family get away to start the new year. The owner obviously takes pride in his house. There is new flooring throughout the house, a newish bathroom, and a fully furnished kitchen. It feels like home starting with the original paintings on the wall to the needlepoint artwork hanging on the walls. The kitchen is bright and airy and opens up onto the big backyard stone patio under a redwood tree and pine tree. There is a small hot tub under the trees. The four bedrooms each have their own little personalities, but the beds were comfortable and the framed nature photographs were a sweet touch. We have stayed in many VRBO rentals over the years and have experienced a wide range of owner responses. This owner responded to our calls immediately and we found out that is was his childhood home that he is preserving and improving for posterity. The reason we return to VRBO rentals is that we find hotels sterile and boring. This house met our desires to feel at home in Sonoma County and we hope we can return again soon.
Most definitely recommend this for quality and for price. Unbeatable combination.
I rented Glenn’s house in Sebastopol after reading all the reviews. I have to be honest that while the reviews were great, they don’t do justice to this house. It was immaculately clean, beautifully furnished, and the kitchen is fully functioning and well appointed. We really enjoyed our time with the 6 goats out back who would come up the fence and greet us whenever we walked by. Cecilia lives in a small apartment alongside the house and while we rarely saw her, she was available to help us set up the barbecue when we contacted Glenn. As an owner, Glenn was very up front and communicative with me from the point of the reservation down to the refunding of the deposit. He responded very quickly to some minor questions I had texted him. He seem generally concerned that our visit was the best possible one. I hope to return to Sebastopol soon and when I do, I will definitely rent his house again.
There are many small wineries in the immediate area, as well as small restaurants to try out. Across the street is Mom's Apple Pie and deli, plus a small restaurant. Russian River is nearby. Bodega Bay is within 30 minutes.
