Unique one of a kind beach cottage, no other location like this in Carmel.
Incredible views and right on the beach. Lots of marine wildlife to be seen. Walking, tidepooling, outside the front door!
Just a quick hello to tell you that your vacation house convinced my husband that we could live in Carmel. We stayed for two weeks in January of 2013 and just loved it. We were tying to decide whether to live in Healdsburg or Carmel. I wanted Carmel. So now we are at Quail and visit the beaches next to your rentals quite a bit. I just love that cottage. In fact our friends from Arizona are staying there this month, and the best part is that we get to go there and have a BBQ while they are there. I keep telling my husband that we should have a “staycation” and rent the cottage again. We have lovely mountain and golf course views but it is not the ocean. Your place is the best. I tell anyone who wants to rent here.
Even for a person who has lived most of my life on the coast, staying at the Abalone Cottage was an incredibly experience. To have the Pacific Ocean as part of the front yard is so seldom experienced that it was all we could do to tear ourselves away from the view to do anything else. The cottage is immaculately maintained both inside and out, no small task for a home on the water. The furniture is extremely comfortable, the kitchen had everything I could possibly need, the linens were wonderful, more hidden in plain sight storage space was discovered every day, lanterns and flashlights were conveniently placed should we lose power (we didn't) and wood available should we want to make a fire. The showers were great, the bathroom spotless, plenty of extra towels for shower or the beach and even an apartment size washer/dryer was provided. There is nothing more we could have asked for. We were in love and truly hope to return next year.
The cottage was perfect. Beautiful view, peace and quiet, accessible to numerous hiking trails and historical to boot. Definitely a one of a kind location. The owners of the property are so nice. I arrived in a complete state of stress burn out and left with a smile on my face; relaxed and ready to take on the world again. It's close to all the tourist action but tucked away from it. I will definitely be returning to this very special place.
This is a truly unique cottage to have a vacation. Its location is very special. We awoke to the sounds of the ocean and bay every morning. We enjoyed our coffee outside viewing the sea life. Grey Whales, otters, seals, dolphins, pelicans, gulls, and ducks frequented the bay on a continual basis. The light conditions played on the rock cliffs of Point Lobos State Reserve. Sunsets were always looked forward to sipping regional wine. The accessibility of the cottage to the town of Carmel-by-the-sea was fantastic. We would gladly stay here in the future.
Simply a remarkable property setting in one of the most beautiful spots on earth. Having visited here for over 25 years, each stay is a reminder of why we always expectantly await our next. All who have visited us here are envious.
You can't get a better view of the central coast than the one from Abalone Cottage. My husband and I stayed here for a week in August, a great get-away from the desert. The location is perfect, just a few miles from Carmel, grocery shopping, wineries and restaurants yet secluded enough for quiet and a fire on the beach under the stars. The cottage was clean and well stocked with some essentials in the kitchen, We had trouble with one bathroom and the owner was there immediately to repair. The only downside was the musty smell in the cottage that just wouldn't go away.
We were looking for an escape at the ocean, and the Abalone Cottage more than provide that. The location was extraordinary. Truly special. It was quiet and tucked away. The cottage was clean and cozy. We brought our dog with us, and she loved it! The trails along the coast allowed for beautiful, long walks. Sunsets were amazing. There isn't anything negative to be said. We will definitely return.
Walk along the beach. Have a fire on the beach at night and fire up the s'mores .
