My french husband and I and our 4 children moved to Aix en Provence from Oxford UK in 2010. We absolutely love it here and will be delighted to fill you in on everything this beautiful area has to offer. Waking up to blue sky and sunshine is a definite plus! Aix en Provence is a beautiful city within walking distance and yet the cottage and bastide are set in 3 acres of garden so one immediately feels on holiday!
Rachel Bizot purchased this house in 2010
This is our home and we are delighted to rent out our cottage and share the delights of the region with visitors . We love meeting new people from around the world and are very happy to help make your stay as enjoyable as possible. I am very happy to arrange language lessons, cookery demonstrations, guided tours.
The setting is rare so close to Aix and the views are beautiful . There is a boules for you to enjoy like the locals! The large saltwater pool is generally in use from April onwards. The convenience of the location. During busier months it is wonderful not to have to worry about taking a car in to Aix and access to the motorway is easy for visiting the rest of the area.
Coming back to the comfortable studio at the end of a long day sight seeing was lovely. We enjoyed being away from the crowds in the town and relaxing with a glass of wine looking out over the garden and with the two well trained dogs looking on. Rachel and Jean were very helpful and even gave us a lift to the local shop when we arrived to get some basics - on a Sunday! If you don't want to walk to town there is a bus at the end of the lane which takes you to the centre.
We chose this property based on the excellent reviews of past guests. We can only add that we too can only re-iterate the glowing praise that everyone had for the property and especially for Rachel and Jean, the hosts. The position is perfect just on the outskirts of Aix. We had a car but didn't bother to drive, as the walk was so pleasant. There is also a regular bus from the nearby council parking for unlimited daily trips to town for 2 euro. If returning to Provence we would stay again without a moment's hesitation.
My wife and I spent a week in the guest house of Rachel and Jean's property, and enjoyed our stay immensely. The location provided excellent access to Aix-En-Provence as well as being a good spot for various day trips we made by rental car. Jean and Rachel were very helpful without being pushy. The facilities were just as advertised and very comfortable. I would recommend this property to anyone visiting the Provence area.
Beautiful location. Probably would be easier with a car but we managed just fine without one. Could walk everywhere. Pool was a nice plus at the end of the day. Family was very enjoyable. Loved Aix and would love to visit again.
Great apartment attached to home a few minutes by car from Aix en Provence. Family is lovely and friendly and went out of their way to assist in any way they could. Great location to travel by car from for a weeks stay.
This was perhaps my best vacation property rental ever, and I have rented in several parts of Europe, from some very nice people. My daughter and I spent eight nights in Rachel and Jean's cottage, and loved every minute of it. The house is new, but with a traditional feel, and the studio is just the right size, and well equipped. The grounds are just as lovely as the pictures portray them, and the atmosphere produced by this family is friendly and welcoming, without being intrusive. We were asked several times whether we lacked anything, and Jean carried in my overly heavy bag! Jean and Rachel were very willing to give directions to the many destinations that my daughter and I sought to visit, and offered helpful advice when asked. The house is located on a country lane, down which my daughter and I jogged several times to town. It is just the right balance of accessible and secuded. The experience, in short, was just as advertised, and I couldn't be more pleased with my experience!
The cottage is ideally located . It is in a peaceful setting yet walking distance from AIx the home of Cezanne and with many historical landmarks. It is ideally located to explore the region within easy access to the motorway , the Luberon, the gorges de verdon, Marseille and the calanques are very easily accessed.
