Overview

About the property

2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, sleeps 4/5

Beautifully restored in the original Sardinian style, this vacation home offers you and your family the ultimate 'getaway'.

It is located in the quaint village 'Riola Sardo', within a short drive from some of the most spectacular beaches in the Mediterranean. Mari Ermi and Is Arutas with their white quartz sands and aquamarine waters are particularly enchanting.

With a fully fitted kitchen; one room with 2 single beds/double bed and bathroom; one bedroom with a double bed and shower/bathroom; a gallery/tv area and a living room with fireplace this holiday home provides you the perfect position from where to sample the delights of Sardinia. Free wireless internet is also available.

Take advantage of the cultivated, enclosed garden with two large shaded verandas for an evening bbq and outside dining. Feel free to sample some of the lemons, oranges, persimmons and pomegranates from our fruit trees!

The village: The village is situated in the most central position on the west coast of the island, which makes it possible to reach every remote sardinian spot on a daily trip basis. There is everything!! pasticceria, bank, pizzeria, butcher, grocery, weekly market, supermarket, hardware shop, computer shop, post office...

In Riola you can avail of delicious home made pastries for breakfast ,artisan ice-cream, home made liquors (the 'Finocchietto Sardo' is a 'must try'!) and locally produced oil and wine (Vernaccia).

Getting there: Arriving at either Cagliari, Olbia or Alghero airports you can reach the motorway SS131. Close to Oristano, look for the exit 'TRAMATZA SOLARUSSA' then follow the signs to SAN VERO MILIS. Once in SAN VERO MILIS follow the signs to PUTZU IDU and then RIOLA. From CAGLIARI Airport it takes approx 90mins, from OLBIA just over 2 hours and from ALGHERO (via SASSARI) 2 hours.

For the scenic route from Alghero Airport just follow the coast road in the direction of Oristano via Bosa. To enjoy the trip allow at least 3 hours time!

A very enjoyable week

  • 5 of 5

Property was lovely and in excellent condition. Travelling with an 20 month old child, we found the provision for little ones was very good. It was important for us to have a bath in the property as this is part of her normal bedtime - this was the only place I could find with one. The property also had a high chair, travel cot, stair-gate and plenty of nice toys which was good.

In addition, it was nice to know that help was not far away if we'd needed it. The property manager texted us half way through the week to check we were ok (which we were!)

The Marshall Bluetooth stereo was a very nice also - daddy had fun with this :-)

Thanks for a wonderful week!

Great stay in La Tartaruga D'Oro

  • 5 of 5

We spent fantastic 2 weeks in Sardegna. We had planned to explore the area a bit as well as to make trips further away, for which "La Tartaruga" was a great base. We always felt good coming back to this quiet little house, it indeed felt like our home away from home. We loved the garden, it actually looked much nicer than on the pictures as the plants and trees have grown bigger and it felt like an oasis. We enjoyed our mornings there with coffee and fresh cornetti from the nearby bakery, as well as evenings with chilled wine and grilled fish. As already mentioned in previous reviews, the house is delightfully furnished, well taken care of, very clean and equipped with everything necessary. The beaches nearby were great, a bit crowded in August but we still enjoyed them a lot. Last but not least, the communication with the owners was excellent, we were provided with loads of information and tips which proved very useful. We had a great stay, thank you Sergio and Claire!

perfect stay

  • 5 of 5

Before arrival we had good communication with the owners, Claire and Sergio. We were provided with perfect directions so that we found our way to La Tartaruga very easily. The house and the property exceeded our expectation. All was furished yery stylish and the house was well equiped. We foud all we needed for our stay. Claire and Sergio had provided us with clear instructions how to use all the equipment (wifi, dishwasher, water pressure, etc.) so that we had no problems. Although in the center of Riola Sardo the garden which was enclosed by a high garden wall was wery calm and private. It was planted with lemon trees and pomegranate trees and was furnished for having dinner as well as for relaxing. All of the house and property was very clean and tidy. Moreover the owners provided us with a lot of recommendations for shops and restaurants which all were perfect.

We can recommend this property unrestricted and would come back :-).

modernes und ruhiges Haus in guter Verkehrslage

  • 5 of 5

Fazit: Wir kommen gern wieder, Danke.

Well-equipped house with beautiful garden

  • 5 of 5

This is a recently renovated house in a small, quiet village. It has been done up by the owners with great attention to detail and using solid materials and is decorated nicely with comfortable furniture. The garden is a big plus, again very tasteful and private. There are 2 large, comfortable bedrooms, so 2 couples can easily use it. We were met by the caretaker on arrival and had no domestic issues during our stay. The house is a good 15-20 minute drive to the nearest beach, but it provides a good base location to discover the whole of the Sinis peninsula and further afield, if you wish. We spent a day in Bosa, and a morning in Oristano, we also went down to the Arborea area and did horse-riding at the Horse Country stables near there. The beaches nearby are great, all different, most with little or no development around. Would definitely recommend to others considering staying in the west. Also very good value for money, we felt.

A gem in Riola Sardo

  • 5 of 5

Sergio and Claire made this typical Sardinian house into a top class holiday home. The decor is elegant, authentic and refined. I especially loved the high ceilings lined with bamboo canes, the antique double doors to the bedrooms and beautiful sardinian furniture. The manicured garden provides a welcome surprise at the back of the house, with plenty of outdoor space for dining and chilling out. The outdoor shower is very handy coming back from the beach and very comfortable. I highly recommend this property and hope to be back in the future!

Car: necessary

Riola Sardo is a beautiful, tranquil village in the Sinis peninsula located 10km from the closest beach. Within 20 mins by car you can reach the stunning, wild and unspoilt beaches of Sardinia's west coast. Putzu Idu, Mari Ermi, Is Arutas, S'Archittu and San Giovanni are wonderful for diving, snorkelling, boat trips and kayaking. Capo Mannu, Sardinia’s most famous surf and wind surf spot is close by. The renowned golf club, Is Arenas Resort, is equipped with 18 holes and offers not only golf lessons but also a unique experience in this area: in fact, the 5-star hotel is open for most of the season also to visitors that are not guests and, among other things, proposes a top class restaurant, drinks by the pool, full breakfasts and SPA facilities. In the Riola area there is ample opportunity for wine tasting by visiting the local vinyards. For archaeology fans Santa Cristina, Nuraghe Losa, Cornus and Tharros ruins are a must see. Try Putzu Idu lagoon for spectacular bird watching, and the oasis of peace and nature in the 'Oasi Naturalistica di Seu'. For lots of fun activities for the little ones visit Torre Grande beach near Oristano. In February/March the surrounding area is the location of several carnival events especially the specatular 'Sartiglia'
