Spend a busy day seeing the sites and return to quiet on the water. Sip a cocktail outside of the deck watching the skyline and finally be rocked to sleep at night in our comfortable beds done up in premium linens.

Fun thing to do!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit to the US from the UK. The first time was several years ago to New York and obviously now to Boston.

Staying on the Sea Pearl was a unique experience and a fun thing to do. We were lucky enough to be there for the labour day fire works in the harbour which were spectacular. We found out about them from doing a bit of research before we came, always worth doing !

I would say that the boat is perfect for 2 if you are not used to being in a limited space for a week, I think personally we'd have found it difficult with more than that, but then we are not used to boats!

If you are visiting from another country don't fret too much as we did ( actually I did as it was a suprise for my partner ) about having transfers arranged in advance. We have always managed to arrange taxi transfers easily but Boston was a struggle and it seems you have to just get there then sort it out.

It was easy actually. We walked out of the terminal and got the free bus to the water taxi's. 2 were there when arrived.

The taxi took us straight to our boat, perfect, and with a tip cost 30 dollars.

My second bit of advice is a must if you are visiting further away places for a night out in Boston and don't fancy using the underground (T) late at night.

Download Uber on your phone. Let your credit card know in advance though as mine was stopped initially..grrr...but soon sorted by a phone call ! There are loads of Uber drivers and you can see their ratings and fares before comitting. You then just click to book. You can see how close they are on the app. Just get them to come to Pier 8. It was easy and very very cheap, probably better than the train even for 2 of us. I think the Uber to the airport on our return was about 16 dollars. You don't hand over cash it's automatically deducted from the credit card you registered with Uber. You don't have to give a tip apparently but as visitors we decided to. Still an absolute bargain though compared to what you pay for a taxi in the UK.

All in all a wonderful holiday and a unique experience, we'd do it again in a heart beat.

Thanks Deborah.

First time staying on a boat - not the last!

  • 4 of 5

This was our first time staying on a boat versus a home or hotel. LOVED IT!!! Debs boat was very comfortable and the marina was quiet. Took a little while to find our sea legs but got the hang of it with no problem. Beds are comfy and everything you need is there just on a smaller scale. Sitting outside enjoying coffee or wine (depending on the time of day) was fabulous. Wonderful being on the water. The marina is outside of Boston so you will need to walk a while to get to the North End/Long Wharf or you can pick up the Trolley at the USS Constitution that allows you to jump off at about 10 different locations. If you have mobility issues, this may not be the boat for you. It requires a full step to get on board from the dock and several steep steps to get up to the deck. We will be coming back to Boston next year and will definitely stay on a boat. Try it - you will like it!!

Sea Pearl Review

  • 5 of 5

We have never stayed on a yacht before so this was a new experience for us. The yacht was very comfortable and had the amenities that we needed for our stay. We were greeted at the pier and escorted to parking and the yacht. Sherry explained the amenities and yacht operations that we needed for the stay. She was very outgoing and come to find out she grew up about 15 miles from our home in Michigan.

The location in the harbor was close to the Navy Ship yard, hop on hop bus pick-up, and public transportation. Our days were filled with sight seeing and enjoying the Boston area. Unfortunately we only spent two days in Boston. Next visit must be longer to take in all the sights and actually experience Boston.

We loved the experience.

Sea Pearl is a Real Gem!

  • 5 of 5

We are sitting here having a quiet breakfast on the last morning of our stay here on the Sea Pearl. We truly found this to be a special way to experience Boston. We arrived by air and did not rent a car. Instead we used either taxi, Uber, trolley or water taxi to make our way to our various destinations and all were easy to arrange and were not terribly expensive. We purchased a "Go Boston" pass through Costco for $87 which allowed us admission to numerous venues/events for 3 days. We chose to go whale watching as our included "premium" attraction. Loved it. Even before we got to the whales it was just wonderful to be out on the water for 4 hours and the whales were simply awesome to see. We used the "hop on hop off" City Trolley both as intended as a tour, but also for transport around the city. We visited the aquarium which was a little too busy for our liking on a Sunday, had lunch at "Cheers" and loved Little Italy. Mike's Pastry is often touted as "the" pastry shop to visit when there, but after chatting with the guys at the local fire hall, we took their advice and went to Modern Pastry instead. Yum! You can look up more about the pass on-line but if you do plan to see a variety of sites, it is well worth it especially via to Costco route. Caught a Red Sox game at Fenway Park. We did not have tickets and they were sold out but they had a "scalp-free" zone where people with extra tickets to sell can go to sell them. So we ended up with box seats at below cost simply because a couple wanted to sell them quick due to their friends being unable to go. Awesome! The Sea Pearl is situated just slightly north of the main hustle and bustle and we found it so relaxing to return to the yacht after a busy day out where it is so peaceful and all the comforts of home were provided. Deb (owner) answered any questions we might have and Sherry (cleaner) met us on arrival and showed us everything we needed to know on board. The boat is beautiful and we feel very lucky to have chosen to stay here.
