This 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom Townhouse is located in a 24 hour gated community on the oceanside at mile marker 99, only 45 minutes from the Miami International Airport, and 99 miles from Key West.
This townhouse is newly painted and tiled throughout (except carpeted stairs). There is a full bathroom located on each floor (showers on all floors). Sliding glass doors on the first floor lead to the parking area. This townhouse is located on the end of the building with extra parking, easy access to front and back entries (first and seond floors) and extra windows on the second and third floors. Balconies are located on the front (facing the parking) and back (view of big chickee, saltwater lagoon and pool) of the second and third floors.
Interior: The first floor has a family room with couch and television and queen bed as well as a separate bedroom with bunk beds (double bed on bottom and twin on top). There is also a laundry area with washer and dryer on the first floor. The second floor has a great kitchen, gorgeous granite countertops, stainless steel appliances including dishwasher. There is a living room (couch and TV) on the second floor with seating on the balcony overlooking the lagoon and big chickee.
This townhouse boosts a master bedroom on the entire third floor with open beam ceiling, king size bed, full bathroom with tub and two screened balconies.
Amenities: Kawama Yacht Club is a 24 hour gated community. Amenities of the community include heated pool, playground, chickee with BBQ area, tennis courts, salt water lagoon, oceanside beach and marina with direct ocean access. Molasses Reef Marina is currently undergoing an extensive renovation and should be complete by 4th of July holiday.
A boat slip (max 25' boat) and golf cart rental will be available with this townhouse rental (please inquire).

Activities and Attractions: Enjoy a relaxing swim off of our private white sandy beach, relax & enjoy the sunset at one of the ocean front Tiki Huts, fish for snapper or grouper off of the 400' jetty, sunbathe at the pool, burn off some calories on our tennis courts, take the kids to the playground or maybe feed the fish in our private saltwater lagoon. These are just some of the activities you & your family can enjoy in the Kawama community & never venture outside the gates.
If you feel the urge to explore, there are great local eateries within walking distance, Pilot House and Calypso's Waterfront Dining (bring your fresh catch and have it prepared for dinner). Or pick up local seafood at the Key Largo Fisheries & cook in. Swim with the Dolphins (within walking distance) or jump aboard a charter and go fishing or diving for the day. John Pennekamp State Park is just 4 miles north. Jacobs Aquatic Center offers a Pirate Ship kids pool, lap swimming & diving boards & is located less than a mile away.
We had a great time on our family vacation. The unit was clean and as described. The entire yacht club was perfect for our extended family as we rented four separate units and we could easily spend time together or apart as desired.
I highly recommend staying at this beautiful resort. I will say that this unit (R1) is probably the best location in the entire place. It was an end unit , located close to the pool and beautiful lagoon. I read quite a few reviews on this property and I can probably see why some people had issues. This specific unit however is privately owned and when we arrived I had a couple of questions so I emailed the owner at 2 am. She not only called me the next morning promptly but she also drove from Miami to meet us. With her she brought all kinds of new supplies, sheets, comforters for the beds, none of which were even a concern. She was very accommodating and wanted everything to be perfect.
The unit is tastefully decorated and well equipped. If I had one concern it would be that the bottom level was a tad musty. The grounds were well maintained, the pool was clean and the lagoon was clear and fun to explore. the entertainment of the large lizards, basking in the sun and scurrying around was great. There is a nice beach as well. We will be back !!
We have been coming to R1 for 5 years. We love the Kawama community and easy access to all the best in the keys. Our unit is spacious with 2 1/2 bedrooms with 3 small bathrooms with showers. It is great for 4 adults and 2 children. If there are any problems Bill and JoAnne will take care of it immediately. We plan on returning next year!!!
We have been coming to the Keys since early 90’s and are frequent renters. We have stayed multiple times at: Moon Bay, Ocean Pointe, Seagulls, Summer Seas, Hotels and a private home. This unit claims to be 3 bedroom, it is not. It has 3 separate sleeping spaces however the room with the bunk beds does not have ingress/egress (a window or door to an exterior wall ) so according to all nationally recognized building codes it is a 2 bedroom. Unit was dirty, several lamps or lights had burned out bulbs. Unit may have been recently remodeled however only the upstairs bedroom would be termed really nice and sorry that is a shower in upstairs bath, not a tub as advertised.
On the plus side, a couple of potential safety problems were dealt with quickly and efficiently by owner. It is a convenient location and screened in porches are great. Lagoon, golf cart, new grill and pool were all nice. Furniture on living level was very nice as well.
The reviews seem to be so varied and it may work for some however we have had better experiences at other locations.
NOT CLEAN AND SLIDER DOORS NEED TO BE REPLACE, I WOULD NOT WASTE M Y MONEY ON THIS CONDO EVER AGAIN. PICTURES ARE NOT WHAT THEY LOOK LIKE.
Townhouse was very clean and well kept, good communication and all essentials were there. I would definitely recommend and stay again
