Great place to stay in Bemidji with lots on MN nice

  • 4 of 5

The folks at the property have a nice little place to stay that was a perfect home base for spending a few days taking in the nearby MN state parks in and around the Bemidji area. The bunkhouse was clean, cozy and comfortable for our 4 person family and very affordable. We met one of the owners on our arrival. She gave us the full rundown on the property, things to do, places to see and made us feel welcome and right at home.

The bunkhouse is simple and basic. You have a small TV with cable, a small refrigerator, microwave, stove, washer/dryer access. We were only there for breakfast meals and the 4 of us were fine eating picnic style. You're not going find a thousand cable channels and there is no wifi but that's not why your staying in the north woods. Others before us report a water smell, we noticed it as well but it did not bother us at all and is to be expected from well water.

If you like to bike ride, boat, fish, golf, hike everything is just minutes away from the bunkhouse. Bemidji state park and the Paul Bunyan bicycle trail are 10 minutes away. Be sure to take in the 20min Bog Walk trail in the park if you enjoy the outdoors. Itasca State Park is about an hour away and a must see park. Plan to be there all day.

We booked less than a week in advance, taking a last minute vacation. We submitted our request and received a prompt confirmation and friendly response and messages in less than 24h. We would go back to the bunkhouse and would recommend it to anyone looking for nice place to stay.

Thanks for a great stay

Peaceful getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at the bunkhouse. It was clean and comfortable for our family of four. We were in town for a baseball tournament and after long days at the ball field it was great to have a quiet place to recharge. Laura and Ben are very accommodating and friendly!

Wonderful Memories

  • 5 of 5

We came to the area because our Daughter lives and works in the Bemidji area. And her idea of Christmas gifts was to give us all gift certificates for the area. My Daughter in-law Nicole found the Bunkhouse Suite on the VRBO website. It proved perfect for my wife Betsy and our son Ben and Nicole to stay while we enjoyed the area, and even attended the ZZ Top concert at the Sanford Center. I heartily recommend the Bunkhouse to anyone looking for a quiet, private retreat.

Peaceful and convenient

  • 5 of 5

This garage loft apartment, with a view of the lake, was a peaceful place to stay near Bemidji. We were there for a funeral and were so happy to be able to stay together as a family. It's clean and cozy, the beds are comfy. Laura came quickly to fix the beeping smoke detector and left a lovely condolence card. Kind people! Thank you.

Beautiful, quiet, perfect getaway.

  • 5 of 5

Great place to get away for a few days. We stayed during Valentines weekend and Laura and Ben made it very easy for us to come and go as we please. Although we had a frozen pipe the next morning, they were very attentive in this matter and came up to check on the issue within minutes. They even opened up their place for us to wash up if we needed too. Things happen, but they were very apologetic and willing to help us so that we had what we needed. The view is beautiful especially in the morning when the sun rises. Lots of land to explore on and the dock would be fun to hang around at during the summer. Overall, fun experience and the size of the bunkhouse was cozy and perfect. Loved the yellow walls as well :) We will definitely be back in the summer for some fun and fishing.

Notes:
Our #1 request is that guests respect our place and treat it as if it was their own, leaving it as nice as when you arrived! Access: Feel free to use our dock, river access, fire pit (located behind the house to the North) and fire wood, trails on the property, yard games and toys in the garage, and if you have questions on other things you would like to use, just ask! Clean-up: We ask that guests leave the bunkhouse as they found it, clean! Please wipe down all counters and surfaces in the kitchen and bathroom, and strip beds and stuff all bed linens into a pillow case from that bed and just leave it on the bed so we know where it goes. Any and all garbage can be bagged, tied, and put in the trash cans in our garage. Safety: Our bunkhouse suite has up to date smoke dectectors, a carbon monoxide detector system, as well as a fire extinguisher under the kitchen sink, and a first aid kit under the kitchen sink as well. Please use the dock and river access at your own risk.
