About Bill and Clare Wilson
Bill and I have lived in Lewes for the last 10 years. We moved from Wilmington, where we were both born and raised. We lived in this house for 6 years and loved it! We live just a half mile away and Bill is retired, so we are easily accessible.
Bill and Clare Wilson purchased this House in 2007
Why Bill and Clare Wilson chose Lewes
We bought the house because of its proximity to the town of Lewes (about a 20 minute easy walk).
What makes this House unique
We fell in love with this property because of its location. Once there, the front porch sealed the deal!

Awesome, cozy house
Clare and Bill Wilson have an excellent house. It is WAY roomier than it looks from the outside, has beautiful wooden floors, tons of character, and the gated back yard was perfect for our shepherd. We would recommend this property to anyone looking for a great place to stay in Lewes.
3 years in a row
My family of 5 has spent a week here 3 summers in a row. I don't know what more I could say as an endorsement. So close to the beach. Washer and dryer for towels and swimsuits. Grill for easy dinners. The perfect getaway.
Perfect beach rental. Well equipped & close to everything. Highly recommended.
I have rented in Lewes quite a few times over the years and this house has everything you could ask for in a vacation rental. Owners are excellent with communication and very nice & helpful too. The house is close to the beaches and town. The house was spotless upon arrival, it is well kept and very clean and roomy. I was very impressed at all of the amenities this house has to offer. Large well stocked kitchen, nice big bedrooms, dining & living room, beautiful front porch sitting area, nice large back yard, ample parking, outside eating area, gas grill, and more. Absolutely loved the stack washer & dryer, outside hose for rinsing beach toys, and the outdoor shower was awesome. This place is very cozy. I would highly recommend this rental. 5 stars all the way! Couldn't be better! Thank you Clare & Bill.
Fabulous Beach Accomodations
This cute cottage was clean and well maintained. My husband and I could not have asked for more ... AND dog friendly!!! In walking distance to the town of Lewes that has many great restaurants and cute shops. Clare and Bill were most accommodating and accessible if needed. We will definitely be back.
Lewes beach house
We had a wonderful vacation and enjoyed being away from the busy traffic of route 1. Lewes is a beautiful, historic town with many good places to eat. Having the yard at the house for the the dogs to use was a great addition. The front porch was a great place to hang out. Clare was a very helpful person to rent from and made herself available but did not intrude on our time at the beach. Highly recommended!
So close to the beach and very cute
This place is really close to the beach. You are about 1.6 miles to Lewes beach it is under a 10 minute bike ride. There are many points of interest near by as well as historic Lewes and Zwaanendael Museum. You are a short drive away from the Milton Dogfish Head Brewery as well. Cape Henlopen is about 3 miles away (15 minute bike ride) and the bike trails that can lead you to Rehoboth. Don't drive to Rehoboth you will lose 40 minutes of traffic time (unless you go before 9am)- just ride a bike. There is also a yoga studio less then a 5 minute drive.
You do get beach culture at this location but also history and it is a little more secluded then the party life of Rehoboth.
The house's AC is super cold so if you happen to be in the area on a 90 degree day it is a nice retreat from the heat. One of the bedrooms do not have AC though- or at least I don't think it does. The kitchen is stocked with pots and pans, microwave, refrigerator, drip coffee maker, plates dishes and cups. Also in the kitchen there is the washer and dryer. The washer does have a fast load if you need something washed in an hour. There is plenty of places to sit in the living room which has cable TV and Roku. The dinning room is a great place to gather to enjoy meals. The upstairs bathroom is spacious and there is a half on the first floor. The outdoor shower is nice too.
The back yard is larger then I am use to. I have little dogs so in the fenced in part I know that my one dog could get under the fence where it shuts if he wanted to. So I just stayed out there with them. The fence us great for hanging beach blankets and towels to get the sand out or to dry. There is a lovely rose of Sharon bush that I enjoyed looking at- my parent's had one when I was growing up. However, I am one of those people that you want to take to outdoor activities because all the bugs will bite me. If you suffer from the same issue put bug spray on before chilling in the back yard. I am not going to lie but I did enjoy having a beer on the front porch. Again- plenty of seating and you can watch the cars, cyclists, etc go by.
A lot of beach properties I have stayed at the previous guests leave behind their condiments, there were none in the fridge just a few spices in the cabinet. So if you are banking on that bring your own. Also don't forget your towels and blankets for the bed. I forgot my sheets and had to go get a set. I had a relaxing week with my dogs and friends. I would stay again.
