Welcoming and relaxing stay

  • 5 of 5

My daughter and my Corgi dog and I stayed here for 3 nights and we all loved it. From the moment we stepped in to the cottage, we felt welcome. The furnishings were definitely a cut above. The kitchen was stocked with good coffee, lots of cold water in the fridge, high quality pots and pans, crystal glasses, butter, honey, olive oil, condiments, spices, etc. so we didn't have to scramble to go out and buy a lot of things to make breakfast and other meals. The beds were very comfortable and there were thick towels in the bathroom. The lovely deck has gates that close at each end, so my dog was safely confined but still had freedom to run around on the deck. We were sorry to leave and would have loved to spend ore tie there. We would definitely like to go back and stay there again.

Pleasant and Peaceful

  • 5 of 5

We spent three nights at Marsh Brook and really enjoyed our stay. The cabin is clean and well-kept. Very cozy. We all slept very well. Our first day, we drove to the beautiful beach at nearby Inverness, our second to West Mabou Beach. We visited the Glenora Distillery and enjoyed daily excellent coffees at The Dancing Goat. Leading up to and during our stay, if we had any questions, Hugh was always quick to respond and extremely helpful. Five stars.

Beautiful view, beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at the Marsh Brook Camp was everything we hoped for. The instant we stepped foot into this charming camp, we knew we chose the right place. Hugh and Pam pull out all the stops to make this THE place to stay if you are visiting the Margaree area. The camp was spotless upon our arrival. Elmer, the camp caretaker, was am amazing man. Extremely friendly and even providing some potatoes and wax beans for our first meal at at the camp. His wife Martha was also amazing, entertaining us with her fantastic guitar playing during a power outage. I can't say enough good things about the Marsh Brook Camp, and if we are ever back in Cape Breton, we will definitely be staying there.

Comfy, cozy, beautiful and clean

  • 5 of 5

Hugh's cabin in the Margaree Valley met all my expectations and more. The view was perfect. The cabin is nestled on a quiet road along Marsh Brook. I loved the decor and the coziness of the camp. As a true fishing cabin, Hugh decorated this retreat with everything you could possibly want to know about fishing in the Margaree Valley. Very tasteful and fun.

Thanks for sharing your great camp. Also, Elmer was a real gem.

Best, Allison

Serene, comfortable and ideally located

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four spent 4 days and 3 nights at the cabin and found it clean, comfortable and well located to explore the northern side of Cape Breton Island. Loved cooking and eating breakfast on the front deck, relaxing in the hammock and star gazing at night. It is somewhat remotely located, so plan well as you are not going to run to the store for that forgotten item. Caretaker Elmer Hart was very good at helping us plan our days and filling us in on what roads to NOT take. Beware, GPS is not very accurate on what gravel roads are passable. Breakfast at the Dancing Goat was very good. We would stay there again in a heart beat.
