About Sue Torrey
We are "creative types" and avid nature lovers who grew up knocking around outdoors in the summer -- Don at the beaches of New England, me (Sue) at Lake George. My family started camping on the islands of the lake in the 50s, when my older brothers were little, so I grew up with LG as the center of my world. I think I have lake water running in my veins! :) We both grew up and still live in Connecticut, are proud of our two performing artist children, and routinely rescue Siberian Huskies.
Sue Torrey purchased this Cabin in 2013
Why Sue Torrey chose Bolton Landing
Instead of a fussy, fancy "don't touch" house, we wanted something as comfortable as a favorite sweatshirt -- with comfortable beds and hot showers, of course! Bolton Landing hasn't changed very much since the 60s, and that's a good thing. I still remember having blueberry pancakes at Ida and Audie's Country Diner -- and you still can! Or find a whimsical trinket at the Indian Teepee Shop. There are fabulous NEW restaurants, as well, and don't forget ice cream at The Shack! People are so friendly, laid-back, and down to earth in this neck of the woods. We all share a deep love for the mountains, rivers, and lake beauty that's all around us.
What makes this Cabin unique
This barefoot-easy home just rambles on and on. We actually got lost -- inside! -- when we saw it the first time. Three levels, different kinds of bedrooms and gathering spaces -- it has so much to offer. My favorite thing to do in the morning is sit out on the deck in the early sun with a mug of hot coffee, and listen to the boats putting by on the lake. My fave thing to do in the evenings is roast marshmallows at the fire pit and sing camp songs. Badly. We hope you'll find our home a great place to sing badly, breathe deeply, and make wonderful memories, too.

A HOME AWAY FROM HOME
Sue was so easy to communicate with and very responsive
This home provided us with everything we needed and was so well planned that everything was where you would expect to find it. It is very spacious with plenty of private space for everyone to enjoy their time without disrupting whatever anyone else is doing. It is absolutely lovely. Massive deck space, more than enough comfortable furniture and storage space. It's only a few minutes from the center of town, and it is very easy to get there. The Veterans Park Beach which is a very short drive was never crowded like others there are and has a great playscape for the kiddos. The supermarket and restaurants and stores are a couple minutes away and not at all inconvenient. While temperature was 80s-90s, we were never warm or uncomfortable with AC in bedrooms and plenty of cross ventilation and fans.
While the house seems very secluded and isolated at first, it's really.not. it's a very easy drive in and out and if you look for them, the neighboring homes are not far.
I have been renting vacation homes for over 35 years and I highly recommend this home as a favorite rental.
Beautiful and peaceful home
I rented for 8 days and we had a wonderful time. The house was large and and had a lot of room for everyone to have there own quite area. Huge rec area and the piano room was very relaxing , the beach was less than 5mins away. Overall my stay was wonderful.
Our stay at Fox Hollow was perfect. The house was roomy enough for our group and we enjoyed relaxing with friends. It was a great location just outside Lake George. Thanks Sue and Don for sharing your lovely home!
We love hearing that groups enjoy and appreciate all our cabin has to offer! It certainly is roomy, and we're so glad you found it as relaxing as we do. :)
Nice quiet area with a beautiful home and with plenty of room for parking. We will be going back again.
Great place for large families.
The house is a spacious three floor home with a wrap around porch outside with gas grill and deck tables and benches. It’s ideal for large families where groups can split up and play/talk amongst themselves without interference and still group up and do activities together. The large dining table on the second floor is the natural center of the home and big enough to hold the entire family for meals. There’s helpful brochures about the town and some spices in the kitchen.
The owners informed us of the water usage limitation (10-15 mins shower, followed by 10-15 mins break for water to replenish) which wasn’t bad as long as we staggered our showers. The water pressure and hot water was great and encountered no issues. We were asked to bring bed sheets, pillow cases, and flat sheets.
The home is located a short drive (~10 min) to lake activities (kayaking etc.) and small town (restaurant, gift shops) and about 30 mins away from the larger town and a Walmart.
Would definitely recommend the place for a big family with kids and would come back myself.
Had a great time overall,
We are so gratified you had a great time! We hope it was just the respite you were looking for. Please come back again! :)
Great getaway in a secluded area
Large house with 3 living areas. Great for large families. Well appointed and very clean. 20 minutes from Lk George Village
Thank you Fred! We're so glad you and your family enjoyed your time at our home.
Families do appreciate the unique combination of quiet and privacy at the house, and quick access to downtown Bolton Landing -- as well as an easy drive to LGV.
The cabin is furnished and appointed (and cleaned!) well because, heck, it's our special respite, too! It's a well-loved home that we enjoy and enjoy sharing with guests and friends.
Please come again next year! :)
