The Figueirinha's Family House is a detached villa situated in Sitio das Figueirinhas, Caniço, a quiet area overlooking the sea. It has 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom with shower, 1 basic bathroom, fully equipped kitchen, dining room and living with TV. Located 15 minutes (16 km) from Madeira Airport and 15 minutes (9 km) from the center of Funchal City. About 10 minutes (5 km) from the Cristo Rei Beach, Caniço, where you can enjoy a magnificent view and beach. Less than five minutes you will find supermarkets, restaurants, bars, banks, pharmacies and other service providers. It is recommended car use so you can fully enjoy the attractions of Madeira Island.
The Funchal City has numerous attractions such as several museums with exhibitions of various kinds, gardens and viewpoints, churches and religious art, Forte de São Tiago, Funchal harbor and the famous Farmers Market that represents the best of traditional commerce, which is also an attraction! In the old grocery stores where they sell loose spices or where you can drink the famous Poncha of Madeira, which serves as great appetizer a meal in the cozy atmosphere of one of the great restaurants in the old town where you can enjoy a good atmosphere and service, but also, a selection of various meat dishes or fish (always fresh). You can enjoy a unique view over the city of Funchal taking the cable car bound for Monte which is known for its beautiful, lush gardens, but also the famous Church of Monte. From the top of Monte's Church the overlooking the city of Funchal is indescribable! To return to the city center, you can choose to visit the Botanical Garden or release some adrenaline taking the famous "basket of cars" to return to Funchal city center.
There are many options for visiting the island of Madeira, we have car rental or recommend bus tours. The best of Madeira won't be seen through the roads, but, taking the old paths (famous "levadas" of Madeira Island) linking all the villages of Madeira, even the most remote ones. Through them can meet the most beautiful and lush island landscapes, but also meet the famous laurel forest which is classified as World Heritage by Unesco.
Shouldn't miss the visit to other places like Camacha, known by the artisans working the wicker (chairs, basket cars descending from Monte to Funchal, Santana (theme park, famous thatched houses and the knowned Levada of Green Cauldron), Camera Lobos and Caniçal (fishing villages where you can find good restaurants with fresh fish), Eira do Serrado and Curral de Freiras (magnificent views and traditional products based on chestnuts), Calheta and Machico (white sandy beaches), Pico Areeiro and Pico Ruivo ( highest peaks of Madeira), North Island (where you can feel the difference of the various climates will find in Madeira, but also a tour where you will find green landscapes and good restaurants), etc.

Spacious sea-view house, quiet place
Joao’s beautiful and spacious house is the perfect location for two couples to get to know Madeira. We stayed 2 weeks; for 1 week we had a 2nd couple join us. Joao was available by phone or email; when he wasn’t able to be present, he would send a family member to take care of things.
We stayed in this clean and lovely house for 2 weeks in August. Restaurants are plentiful in town and very good. The people of Madeira are friendly and kind. It was an excellent base for our initial immersion into the culture of Portugal, which we loved. Funchal is a delight and one of the highlights of our two weeks stay. This house is one we will recommend to families, to our friends or anyone looking for good accommodation in the area.
