Walking at Beaver Lake

Our home is Quiet and comfortable , filled with sun light and artwork. There is a "Gas log " stove for romance and warmth. Hardwood floors throughout .

Early in the year you ll hear the small Spring Peeper frogs. And there is the sound of the fountain in the goldfish pond at the bottom of the yard.

This is a very unique cabin located behind my own home which is an 100+ year old Log Cabin. The land is filled w spirit and love, abundance and life. I am so lucky to live here and to be able to share the enchantment with you.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We spent a long week -end Hiking the trails on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The cabin was the perfect location for access to restaurants in Asheville and then hiking during the day. Rebecca recommended a hike along the Larel River and then we rented Hot Tub ( # 5) at nearby Hot Springs. We had a fantastic vacation. The cabin was very clean ,comfortable and quiet. We loved staying at the Wishing Tree. Only wished we could stay longer

Beautiful Cabin in the Woods

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I had the best time at the Wishing Tree Cabin in Asheville! It was up a hill and tucked away so very secluded - perfect for the mountain escape we were looking for. That said, it was just a 10 minute drive into downtown Asheville where we enjoyed a beautiful dinner out one evening. It's close to many grocery stores (and Starbucks!) so we had fun cooking at the cabin. The kitchen was stocked with great tools and a nice gas stove, and we enjoyed eating by the fireplace. The bed was very comfortable with a great view and lots of morning light. Rebecca was a great host and gave us plenty of privacy. Very clean and well maintained. Overall it was a fantastic stay. We hope to be back soon!

Charming with loads of character

  • 5 of 5

This is our second time staying at the Wishing Tree and it was as lovely as the first. Comfy bed, great shower and a lovely selection of teas to cozy up with next to the fire.

Perfect for a couple

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at the Wishing Tree cabin. Very comfortable, well equipped kitchen, many condiments were already there (tea, coffee, s&p) no need to bring dish soap, garbage bags, etc. Very quiet location. Driveway is what you would expect on a steep dirt road, leave your low rider at home. We had a warm January day in the 60's and got to see the bees get a little active. Even though there are other homes nearby, and all the leaves were down, it felt pretty private. For the affordability, I'd have to give it 5 stars. Would definitely stay again.

Cabin Setting is Somewhat Deceitful

  • 3 of 5

My husband and I just got back from a quick anniversary trip to Asheville where we stayed in this cabin. I saw the pictures online and fell in love with its charm and seclusion. While the pictures of the interior of the cabin are accurate, we were a little caught off guard by the setting and location. The pictures seem to indicate that the cabin is extremely secluded and surrounded by woods and trees. To be fair, we went in the winter when a lot of the leaves had fallen off the trees so this might be a different experience in the spring or fall. However, we were shocked when we pulled up to see that there were countless homes/trailers/RVs (as well as other various buildings) all within 100 or so feet of the cabin. The porch off the side of the house looks directly into another house/structure so there really wasn’t much privacy at all. Had it been an option to cancel our reservation after seeing the location, we would have, but since we had paid in advance we did not feel it was worth cancelling and losing money for our 3-night stay, as well as having to pay for alternate accommodations. We still enjoyed our stay and made the most out of our time in Asheville, but we wanted to write this review so that others can be informed as to the setting of this cabin so that there are no surprises upon arrival! Had anyone else expressed this in their reviews, I feel it would have saved my husband and I a little bit of disappointment as well as some money.

Owner's Response: I'm a little confused by this review. I live on a private drive with only 5 homes. I state clearly that this cabin is behind my own home. I also have an RV. I do not state that I am isolated. But I am located only 5 miles from downtown Asheville. In the winter you do see the other homes around me. My property is 1 acre and very lovely. If you look at the other reviews you will see that most people are very happy. Especially if you look at my price and value compared to being in a hotel.

Our Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We came to Wishing Tree originally just to vacation, due to an accident where my husband broke his leg it became a healing retreat. Rebecca worked with us as we had to change our dates at the last minute and was very understanding. The directions were great, the cabin beyond what we were hoping for. Everything we could need and even the discount card for the nearby grocery store was waiting for us. I wish I could make a suggestion for improvement but can't think of a thing. Very comfortable bed room with huge closet and laundry, gas fireplace, well equipped kitchen, easy parking and even on crutches my husband had no problem with access. We love the Asheville area and we're glad to be there for leaf peeping time, found plenty of restaurants and lovely drives nearby. We will be back!

Lovely hideaway close to town and National Forests

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for 3 nights and had a wonderful relaxing time. Rebecca was great to rent from and her personal touches to the cabin made us feel right at home. We didn't want to leave! Location is prime with close access to Asheville and major highways, central location to two major National Forests, and private and quiet. We will be back!
