Jim Thorpe House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

Fine restaurants, outdoor activities like swimming, biking, rafting, small unique shops, art galleries- Jim Thorpe has it all. This is a family friendly town with lots to do in the area. Only hours from Philadelphia and New York it is not difficult to get to.

Close to lots of fun things to do in town.

This house is located right in Jim Thorpe on the main street, but with off-street parking so you don't have to worry about finding a spot for your car. Minutes from the varied restaurants of Jim Thorpe, you have a choice to cook your self in our full equipped kitchen or go out for a delicious dinner cooked by someone else. It is a 15 minute walk to the downtown shops and museums of Jim Thorpe.

Or get into the great outdoors.

Just 3 miles by car is Mauch Chunk Lake with swimming and a lovely beach, boating and fishing on the lake, and hiking around the lake. This lake is enjoyable in all seasons. Or jump on your bicycle and join up with the Switchback Trail just minutes from the property. Rafting is available down on the Lehigh River which runs right through the heart of Jim Thorpe. Or take a hike to Glen Enoko, a short drive from town and the property where you will stay. In winter we are just a short drive from 3 ski areas- Blue Mountain, Jack Frost, or Big Boulder. And if you want to see the lovely leaves in the fall they are all around in whatever direction you might turn.

About Jennifer Dages

We are a entrepreneurial family who are involved in real estate and have several other side businesses. We have 4 children and live next door to the property.

Jennifer Dages purchased this house in 2003

Why Jennifer Dages chose Poconos

Our house is comfortable and spacious and just right for your weekend get-away with friends or family. It is located just enough to town that you can easily walk to downtown attractions, but there is mountain behind and in front of the house so you don't have that in town crowded feeling.

What makes this house unique

We offer a healthy living weekend which includes food prepared according to special dietary accomodations, nutritional seminars, hiking, massage, and a nutritional consult.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The owners, Jennifer and Bob, were very welcoming. They live right next door and were available for any questions or troubles. House was in good condition and there was lots to do around town. Driveway could easily fit 2-3 cars which was great and every room had A/C. Overall the experience was excellent and I would definitely rent from them again.

Great weekend

  • 4 of 5

We came up to race cars in the Weatherly Hillclimb... had 4 of us. Very comfortable cozy, clean. Renters were very nice to deal with before, during stay and after. Impressed and appreciate their kindness. We spent a lot of our weekend at the hillclimb but staying at a place like this in a town like Jim Thorpe makes you want to come back and take a vacation there. THANKS! We appreciate VRBO hooking us up with good folks... for third time on weekends up there!

What a great long getaway weekend. We arrived Friday afternoon, and stayed until Monday. We had the perfect weekend. This house was perfect for our group of eight adults. Perfect front porch for the parade. Really felt like we were a part of the parade.

The house is very roomy and comfy. Bob and Jennifer were very nice people.Hope to come back and stay again!

Awesome Family Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Our family, with four kids (ages 12, 10, 6, and 4) had a delightful fall visit to Jim Thorpe. This vacation rental was a perfect base for our explorations of the town of Jim Thorpe (lovely shops - loved the used book store, and a house on the mainstreet that houses several shops in one old home - sampled some wine there and picked up a cozy scarf, and some yummy restaurants - yelp pointed us to an amazing german beer place ), as well as the surrounding area. Hosts were gracious and generous, and good sources for directing us towards different hikes and excursions. Their children were so friendly and welcoming to ours and helped mine with some mini excursions up the hill behind the house. House itself was clean, spacious, with comfortable beds. Would definitely recommend both this vacation rental, and this town, for a getaway.

Hope to Return

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time with our 3 children, 3 and under. Nearby attractions for us included Mauch Chunk Lake Park, the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway, the Mauch Chunk 5&10 store, and the convenience of an Aldi and Walmart. In the house, we enjoyed baking in the kitchen (needed to be creative with some supplies), crafts at the table, reading stories in the living room, and family movie nights. Bob quickly and happily replaced a lamp that broke on our arrival, and he also introduced our wide-eyes children to a fossil and a bunny. Jennifer, with her expertise, was a tremendous blessing when one of us had sudden GI trouble. We were sad to leaving as staying in our "vacation house" is a highlight of our year!

Clean, comfortable, very spacious house; Great place to stay;

  • 5 of 5

The house is from the second half of 19th century and is very spacious. The historic floor plan is amazing. Despite the age, the house is in great condition. I am familiar with typical historic building issues, such as electric wiring that has not been designed to capacity, etc. There were not such issues here. Everything in very good condition, house is very clean, comfortable and clean. The house has a very warm homey atmosphere.

The owners live next door and are very friendly and helpful. Owners daughters showed my daughter how to take care of the bunnies that they keep and she still can't stop talking about the bunnies.

The location of the house is great. On the one hand, it is located on the main street of the town and you can walk to any town attraction easily. On the other hand, the house is just outside of the busiest section of the town and thus is outside of the noisy area. There are great many things things to do in town and around it. We spent a week there doing different thing every day and enjoyed it very much.

Jim Thorpe is a lovely town set in the Pocono Mountains. It has been known as 'Little Switzerland' because of its narrow streets and lovely mountain setting. There is something for everyone here- fine restaurants, cute shops, mountain biking, swimming, white water rafting, hiking, and more.
