About the property

House Love Built==Close to Hiking, Shopping, Skiing, and it's on the River!!

This is The Butter House! A rustic, shabby-chic, fully furnished home away from home, that is beyond peaceful and relaxing with its large deck overlooking an acre on the Ottaquechee River with 50 feet of river frontage.

The Butter House is within 6 miles of Bear Mountain and the Shyship high speed quad at Killington, 20 minutes from Okemo Mountain, and a few miles from President Coolidge's Estate There is a diner across the street, multiple antique stores including the Red Horse, a beautiful old Mill with a restaurant and bar, and Shackleton furniture all within half a mile, as well as the Bridgewater General Store 1 mile away. You are also only a 5 minute drive to quaint Woodstock with fine dining and shopping.

The Butter House has 3 queen sized beds, 1 futon as well as 2 queen size air mattresses and can comfortably sleep 6-10 people.

The house is pet friendly and smoke-free indoors. :)

About Gina

I'm a southern girl that moved to Vermont in the late 90's as a speech pathologist and single mom. I'm now back in the south and have friends helping me ensure I get to keep my wonderful refuge-of-a-home in Vermont by renting it out. I'm laid back, a dog lover, a friend to many, and hope your time in my home is as filled with peace, love, and happiness as my time is when I'm 'home' in Vermont! :)

Gina purchased this house in 2007

Why Gina chose Vermont

Look at the RIVER! Who doesn't dream of one day retiring and living in a big, old, quirky house in which you can have people visit that is surrounded with green, rolling hills, on a river, with local foods everywhere, that has a big storage building, (my son's old band's practice headquarters when he was little), tons of personality, and proximity to skiing and hiking!? It's mecca for the part of me that needs to retreat from the world and have a place I can hide and serve my friends, and be at peace.

What makes this house unique

Our locations puts us close to so many places while at the same time not requiring me to get in my car to get some things from the store or to check my mail or to do some shopping. The Red Horse (the old mill that has a pub, thrift store, and my post office all in one) is so close! And being active and loving to get outdoors, all I have to do is ski, hike, or fish right behind my house!

Amazing!!!

  • 5 of 5

This home is amazing!!!! Its about 10 minutes to the skyship, priced very well, has amazing views and more than enough room for 10 to be comfortable. We had 10 plus two 1 year olds and it was perfect. My son woke up just before 6am one day and I took him downstairs to feed him and we saw a group of doe walk through the yard and drink from the river. Thank you Gina for your awesome suggestions and for letting us stay in your beautiful home. This is the kind of home in Vt that I hope to own one day!

Great place for an outdoor oriented VT stay!

  • 5 of 5

This home was perfect for my group (7 adults, one toddler). Beautiful setting - river runs behind - convenient for skiing at Killington and Pico, with amenities such as grocery, gas and brewpub close by. Excellent kitchen for preparing large meals and comfortable common area. We loved relaxing in the living room with a fire burning in the wood stove. Home tastefully decorated and bedrooms nicely spaced out. Great support from owner and property manager. Would definitely return and recommend to a friend.

Ideal for writers and outdoor sports enthusiasts!

You cannot find a more idyllic home for your vacation-I have had the pleasure of staying here twice and would do it again if the situation arose. It comes completely stocked with everything you'd need and is close enough to skiing, breweries, great restaurants....a great deal!
