CATHY’S CORNER GUESTHOUSE
This lovely guesthouse is in the heart of the residential section of St. Maarten called Oyster Pond. It is one of the best neighborhoods on the island because of the peaceful, serene, and stunning views of the pond and ocean. The neighborhood is unique because of its location on the border between the French and formerly Dutch, now Country St. Maarten, side of the island. Two beaches are within a 5-minute walk from the bungalow. Several restaurants are also within walking distance. The Westin, which offers a spectacular brunch, is only a 2-minute car ride away and Philipsburg, the capital of Country St. Maarten, is only a 10-minute drive.
The bungalow is located inside a safe gated community. Street parking is available.

This was our first trip to the island. The guest house was perfect and very private for a couple not to big or small,it is located outside the gate of main house. The fine gentleman name Peter, welcome us with a fresh fruit tray and cold Fiji water ,was very helpful with guidance since live in the island for 43 years, house it is located in the Dutch side 1 minute drive down the hill its the border French side,2 minutes drive to the marina a few restaurants a small convenience store early in the morning you can buy fresh baked baguette ,croissant and different tipe of gudies and very important buy a real street map it cost 13 dollars they sell it there, because you are going to need a car if you really want to get around the island and enjoy the beautifull beaches or enjoy the gourmet dishes at Marigot the very fine pastries at SaraFinas .Or if you want visit Anguilla a British Island ferry departs from there don't forget to bring your passport,if you really enjoy shopping drive around 25 minutes down to Philipsburg many many stores lots of jewelry.I usually leave the house in the morning and come back at night y forget to mention next to the convenience store ,a lady sell hole roostisiere chicken between 12 and 8 pm with 3 sides for 13$ a real bargain .Over all i really enjoy every minute and definitely I' m coming back, tanks for everything, process was smooth, hospitality excellent. Thanks again hopefully will see you again soon.
Overall it is very quiet and perfect for a secluded stay
Just arriving on the island for new jobs, my wife and I booked this little gem of a cottage to get our wits about us as we looked for a more permanent places to live. It is nicely located right near the border but still handy to town. The little bistros and cafes of Oyster Pond are in walking distance. A quick drive north gives you beautiful coastlines and views of St. Barts. You will also find bakeries with great pastries and wine shops. Not sure how it works out but the French wine is very inexpensive. We found we liked the area so much we rented spot just down the road for our more permanent address. Peter the owner could not have been more willing to help with tips and tricks for getting the most out of the island and Nicola was very responsive to all our questions about bookings. While the accommodations are cozy, they where clean and convenient.
My husband and I needed a nice place to stay near the Weston where our son and his family were staying for a medical conference. This guest house was the perfect solution. Great view of oyster pond, extremely clean and equipped with all the amenities, fridge, microwave, dishes, shampoo, beach towels even bug spray! None of these things were complimentary at the Weston, not even a mini fridge. We had A/C and the location was gated and very quiet. Our host was available for anything we needed and very kind. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Lovely experience.
My wife and recently spent 10 days in this very quaint guest house. This was our second trip to the island. The house is perfect for what we needed. The gentleman in the main house was amazing. It is gated and separate from the main house. I will say that "Free Wifi" is a bit misleading. While there was Wifi "available" it was from another unit and depending on where you were in the unit it would not work. After the initial shock of no internet for 10 days we embraced it and were actually very happy about the chance to disconnect. Honestly, you can't complain for the price, location, and personal feel that is provided by the caretaker and owner. I would recommend this property for those that are on a budget, and are not looking for an extravagant type of place. This was perfect for us as we were out all day exploring and enjoying the island. I would suggest a car (really if you come to this island there is no reason not to have a car) as this is located in a residential area as opposed to a high tourist traffic area. It is worth mentioning that the Dawn Beach Club timeshare people are super aggressive. They basically try to flag you down (they are very close to jumping in front of cars) they will not let you go and try to swindle you into a very expensive timeshare. Tell them you have done it before and they might leave you alone. I mention this because they hang out right next to the little market that we frequented. I would stay here again, everything about the process was smooth and easy. Thanks again for all of the hospitality! Hopefully we will see you again soon!
I have been traveling to St. Maarten for years and love the Oyster Pond area of the island. Therefore, when planning a recent trip with my wife, I wanted to find a place in that area. After some research, we decided to stay at a local guest house instead of spending lots of money on a hotel. The place we selected, Cathy’s Corner, was fantastic. It is not very big, but provides everything you need for a home base. Dawn Beach is a three minute drive (or 10 minute walk), as are several restaurants. Popular Orient Beach is also relatively close, approximately a 15 minute drive.
The best part of renting the guesthouse, however, was the conversations we had with the gentleman who lives in the main house. He has been on the island for over 40 years and provided us with several excellent activity and restaurant recommendations. He even took us on a local tour one morning. Having a local nearby to provide guidance was truly priceless!
