Great getaway to sit and relax and enjoy the sunrise. Beautifully appointed 3/2/2 home in exclusive neighborhood on Richland Chambers Lake. Outside features include an expansive deck across the back to sit and relax and enjoy the views, a flagstone walkway down to the covered pavilion where you can sit and enjoy the lake views while cooking out and chatting with friends and family. Also, enjoy a fire pit next to the water and a boathouse with open deck and boatslip.
We have a house across the street and enjoy the lake and especially this neighborhood for fishing, boating, jetskiing, cycling, walking, cooking out and mostly getting far away from it all.
John Campolo purchased this house in 2008
We purchased this beautiful home to share the lake with friends and family.
The unique property has an abundance of trees and landscaping and relaxing porches, decks, and outdoor seating areas. Our guests have particularly enjoyed a fire in the fire pit near the water at night, as well as cooking out down at the covered pavilion while watching out over the lake.
This property has an unsurpassed waterfront view of the lake, and is located in a secluded area within a subdivision of upscale homes. The kitchen has almost all the necessities for cooking & eating, plus many shelf condiments. There is a dishwasher and excellent fridge (both work great). The electric coil stove is okay, but very dated. Bedrooms with linens are clean with chests of drawers and good sized closets. There is LCD TV in living room with DirecTV via AT&T - plus smaller one in the master Bdrm. The laundry room has washer & dryer which work well.
Regrettably, the property is not well maintained (plus water pressure in the guest bath is really poor). The large L-shaped sectional in the living room is, to be frank, grimey (and the throw pillows - yuck), and very-well used. (plus of all things it is set so the "money shot" of the outdoors and lake is blocked by this oversized furniture ???). Sitting outdoors on the patio/deck to look at the lake is not feasible as the deck, all the chairs on it and the walls/windows are in need of a lengthy power wash session or two to clean everything. In fact the entire outside of the property needs some serious attention. Overgrown shrubbery -front, back and sides - is in need of major work, plus an arborist will smile brightly at all of the work needed on the dozens of oak and other trees. There is a smoker/grill (charcoal) halfway to the lake. Like most of everything else, it needs a good cleaning. -- The property does have "For Sale" signs at the entrance and facing the lake, so don't know how much longer it may be for rent.
BTW... if you have any phobia about spiders, you do not want to be here. Cobwebs, spiderwebs and spiders are everywhere... except indoors. There was only a single, old cobweb on the living room ceiling. Personally, I like spiders and enjoyed watch the orb spiders weave their webs each day, plus the huge garden spider nailing tasty treats every couple of minutes. However, out of the six of us, I was the only one with that peculiar interest. Everyone else did not enjoy the spiderwebs.
We don't have a boat and were hoping to rent one at the only marina on the lake, but their single pontoon boat was being repaired and wouldn't be ready 'til next year. We really like the lake and do wish to stay again. Next year will try to see how to rent someplace (This place but cleaned?!??) but do so for an entire month plus find a solution for a boat for that period.
Very nice place!Owner was very helpful and we had plenty of room for everyone(6 adults,4 kids).Dock area is nice and really loved the afternoon shade on the swimming area.We will definitely be back.
Richland Chambers is the 3rd largest lake in the state of Texas. The lake has more than 44,000 acres of water, 330 miles of pristine shoreline all in a beautiful natural setting. Richland Chambers was open to the public in 1989 and is the youngest and most uncrowded lake in the state. The Richland arm is 19 miles long and in places the lake is more than 3 1/2 miles wide. The lake offers plenty of open water for all sized boats and is perfect for sailing, jet-skiing, skiing, wake boarding, tubing or just cruising.
Richland Chambers is regularly stocked by Texas Parks and Wildlife and is one of the best fishing lakes in the state. The lake is abundant with Hybrid Bass, Sand Bass, Crappie, Black Bass, and lots of Catfish. There are several local guides to show you around, marinas and easy lake access for your watercraft.
Richland Chambers is also very abundant with wildlife and is home to bald eagles. The lake is also a major flyway for a variety of species of ducks, geese, and pelicans.
403 Hidden Oaks Lane is in the heart of the lake, 15 miles southeast of Corsicana on US 287. Corsicana is home to many restaurants, a variety of shopes, a thriving theater district and a great local music scene. Great stops to make are the Collins Street Bakery for their world famous fruitcakes and the Russell Stover Candy factory outlet store.
Our house location is only 1 hour from downtown Dallas, or 2.5 hours North of Houston.
