Beautiful Ocean and Mountain views.
This modern, 5500 square foot villa, has everything you need to have a truely relaxing and memorial 'real' Costa Rican vacation away from the crowds. Secure, private, and relaxing. Located on 60 acres of your own lush jungle paradise.
Perfect for families, friends, or couples that just want to 'get away from it all' and enjoy.
The two story house has an oversized master bedroom on the upper floor with an oversized California King bed. The master bath, with tub and shower, is stunning. 3 sets of beautiful teak double doors open onto a complete wrap around balcony, perfect for stargazing and viewing the lights of the valley below. AIr conditioning is included for those who wish, but with the doors open and the fans on you'll sleep like a baby. There is an office desk and wifi for those who feel the need to keep up with the outside world.
The second and third bedrooms, though smaller, are equally as comfortable, with queen sized beds, air conditioners, and access to the balcony.
The second bathroom which has a huge walk in shower, is located here.
The fourth bedroom is located downstairs, and also has a queen sized bed and air conditioning. A full sized handicap accesible bathroom is attached.
A half bath is located adjacent to the kitchen.
We are 100 % solar hot water heated! And unlike properties located on the beaches we actually have very good water pressure.
The kitchen is modern and well equipped, with marble countertops, and a gas stovetop and electric range. All necessary appliances, plates, silverware, etc. are included. The stainless steel dishwasher and refrigerator/freezer will keep you going.
The dining area is quite comfortable with two tables that sit four each, and a bar with two stools.
The living area is also quite comfortable with two couches, a chair and a 42 inch flat screen TV with cable, stereo and DVD player for your viewing pleasure. That's if you can drag yourself inside long enough to watch something, as most guests just want to be outside at the pool area.
The bottom floor double doors open onto a complete wrap around deck and the beautiful infinity edge pool. The pool has a built in waterfall, swim jet package, and sun shades installed for swimming rain or shine. It is the perfect place to watch the sun rise and set while enjoying the views with a cup of coffee or a toddy in your hand. There is ample seating on the deck for intimate conversation or partying with your friends. Jump in the pool or catch some rays on our comfortable reclining lounge chairs.
If your party is extra large there is an adjacent managers apartment that we sometimes rent out for an extra fee. Though not as extravagent as the main house, it is quite comfortable with it's own kitchen, bedroom and bathroom and huge deck.
We can also arrange transfers to and from the airport in San Jose.
Attractions: Being midway between the two largest beach towns on the Pacific offers many advantages.
Jaco and Quepos offer the best restaurants and nightlife on the coast. Manuel Antonio the best beaches and coves. Los Suenos Resort and Marina, the best in all Central America, includes a world-class marina and championship golf course. The brand new marina in Quepos, Marina Pez Zela, along with Los Suenos, make this area one of the most wonderful bases of operation for sports fishing and snorkeling in all the world.
Adjacent to the estate is Sky Mountain Canopy, which boasts the highest, longest, and best zip line in all of Costa Rica. Paid admission to the canopy tour includes beautiful hiking trails and a real nice waterfall. We can walk, drive, or ride the horses to the waterfall. There is also a wonderful waterfall with 3 different pools (Tres Pilas) at the base of the hill. It is an easy drive and easy hike to these falls.
For those wanting to experience the real Costa Rica without the crowds there are six different beaches just a short half hour drive from the estate.
Some are perfect for swimming and some are world class surf beaches. All are great for picnics, walking, and watching the sun set. Playa Palo Seco, just outside Parrita, and Esterillos to our west, both have several little resorts with wonderful restaurants for memorial sunset dining. Parrita and Playon closer to the hill have many very good Tico restaurants for those who prefer the local cusine and culture.
We offer the use of our Toyota Prado Landcruiser (7 passenger) including driver, for only $150 per day (compare that to Budget or Alamo $150 per day w/no driver). You pay only for the days you need the car. You also pay for the gas. We will take you anywhere you wish to go. If you are comfortable driving yourself we rent the vehicle for $75 per day and show you how to get to where you are going. We have maps and a GPS available. If you have a larger group, we can arrange transfers with a very reliable local driver in a very nice 10 to 12 passenger air conditioned van.
We know a lot of cool places to go and you just sit back and relax.
Driving in CR can be quite the stress-filled adventure, especially at night.
We offer our SUV and driver as an alternative to you having to rent a car.
A few reasons this works for some people:
(1) We pick you up and drop you off at the airport, no hasseling at the car rental
(2) We usually know where we are going, lol.
(3) Bless their hearts, the ticos are the worlds worst drivers
(4) Many of our guests tend to enjoy the nightlife and CR has just recently enacted very stiff DUI penalties so the guests would prefer to just sit back and enjoy the ride. You also just pay for the car the days you use it.
We can usually get you a more affordable rate on transfers locally then you can get on your own.
When you decide on the exact dates we will send you a rental
agreement. You execute the agreement and send it back to us.
We require a 50% deposit forwarded to us.
When the funds are posted your rental date is confirmed. The balance will be due , and payable in US$ funds upon your arrival in Costa Rica.
Email us back and leave a call back number should you have any further questions.
Talk to you soon.

Keywords: Thank you for your inquiry into our vacation rental house, villa, estate. Our guests tell us they see more wildlife during their stay here at the estate than any of the tours they go on. It is a birders paradise and a wildlife lovers dream. There is usually a plethora of butterflies, birds of all kinds, monkeys, iguana’s, and other wildlife for your viewing pleasure. We have stables with 5 horses here on the estate and the younger people really enjoy hanging out with the herd. The estate is in the mountains a 30 minute drive to several beaches. Much closer to the estate there are several waterfalls and a major river. The estate is 25 minutes to Parrita, which is then 20 minutes to Quepos or 30 minutes to Jaco and 2 hours to the airport in San Jose.
We are Randy and Claudia Dains from Idaho, partners in Casa Brisas de la Montana, along with Vern Eames, also from Idaho.
It is our goal here at Casa Brisas to make sure that you have the greatest experience possible on your vacation to beautiful Costa Rica. When you leave we want you to leave with a smile on your face and a treasure trove full of wonderful memories. We, like Disneyland, want to be known as the 'happiest place on earth'.
Randy and Claudia Dains purchased this villa in 2010
We chose Casa Brisas de la Montana because of the absolutely stunning beauty and tranquility of the area. The local 'Ticos' are absolutely the best, most genuine people you will ever want to meet. Living here on 'the hill' is a dream come true for my wife and I.
Secluded, beautiful estate that is close enough to all the major tourist areas to make them easily accessable for a truly exciting vacation. But best of all, they are also easily escapeable for a truely relaxing vacation. You get the best of both!
Gorgeous house and an even more amazing view! We saw lots of Tucans and iguanas! The house and property was immaculate, it had all the amenities you could need. It was secluded and private but when you needed to go to the store, it was only 20 minutes away! The closest town of Parrita just opened a new grocery store that had everything you needed. Oscar was able to pick us up at the airport and he was more than accommodating and was also able to drive is back to San Jose too. their are waterfalls and a zip line tour just minutes from the house. Their are lots of beautiful beaches nearby but we ventured to Manuel Antonio which was about 45 minutes and it was well worth it so see the scenery and wildlife.
A busy family of five, looking to disconnect... and that is what we got! If your sick of fighting for a chair at a pool in a resort, or standing in line to eat dinner on a cruise-try this! This beautiful home was secluded, wildlife everywhere, great pool, balconies, comfy beds-and air conditioned bedrooms! (yes 1 is a garage converted-not a big deal) We live at the beach in the US, so we were looking for a mountain get-away, and Casa De la Montana gave us just that. Unlike the last review-we feel your in Costa Rica-so learn the language! Google translate worked just fine. No Oscar, really doesn't speak English, but translate worked for us. He was a wonderful, considerate man! Took us horseback riding, and kids on the quad. He has great tips-ask him! Magally (who walks 30 min. to work-give her a ride if you can) was wonderful. We wanted a vacation, so we asked her to cook on the days she was there-and she did, ask her for the Yuca stuffed with Bisteca! Esteban (he is also on the contact list) is an amazing chef. We hired him for the weekend, we asked for authentic CR food-and he did! He's a great guy, fun to hang with, and a great chef! We don't recommend renting a car. Just use the one at the casa. Fernan-incredible-worth every penny! He picked us up from the airport, took us food shopping, stopped to see the crocs, stopped for us to eat, and found the house at night-which wouldn't have been too easy! Brought us back to airport, stopped for souvenirs, and we were on time! He is a great guy, highly recommend his services! The people on the mountain were lovely... Steven & Saulio at Sky Mountain-the best! We've been zip lining, this was by far- best we've done-scary, high, incredible views! Tres Pilas-go to the falls. Bit of hike, but heah... you want the jungle-you hike. We saw monkeys, and had a blast. Jump in the middle pool, and stay to the left when you arrive, there is a trail up the side of the falls. We surf-go to Hermosa or Esterillos Oesta- find Jorge to rent boards from, he's just as you get to the beach on the right. Snorkled off a catamaran-Ocean King. Great service, nice boat. The road through town and up the mountain isn't the best-yes. But remember where you are. This is an experience like none other- enjoy it, take in the views, play your music, relax, swim, toucans & monkeys on the property... It's the best! Our kids 13,11,9 loved the wifi, lol! We will be back Claudia & Randy!
I will keep my review short and my tips longer. The house is nice with a great view and nice pool area. Randy wasn’t in the country but always returned our phone calls quickly and answered any questions we had. Master bedroom is extremely nice. The other bedrooms are very basic (one is actually a redesigned garage). If I had friends going to Costa Rica I would say the house was worth considering as long as you understood what you were getting yourself into.
Here is some tips and information to be prepared for…
Use the WAZE app and search for “Cabanas Maldonado”. It is 2 minutes from the house and it is really the only marker you will have for GPS.
Oscar is a good man, but he speaks ZERO English. It also doesn’t appear he can’t read Spanish (at least he couldn’t read from google translate) so communication with him is super difficult. Magally (I probably spelled that wrong) is the house keeper and she is there on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. She can’t speak English either, but she can read so communication with her is much easier. She ended up translating between us and Oscar. We also called a couple of the numbers Randy sent us looking for a cook and they said they hadn’t worked for Randy in years and hung up.
The drive up to the house takes 30 minutes if you absolutely don’t care about the alignment of your vehicle (which you probably will have a rental car so you probably won’t care). It has to be down the worse dirt road I have ever been on my life. There is basically two parts to the drive. The first road to get to the mountain is absolutely terrible. Once you get to the mountain, the road up the mountain isn’t quite as bad but since it is snaking up the mountain you still can’t go very fast. Just understand you are 30-40 minutes from a main road. I wouldn’t say 4wd is needed, but having a vehicle that isn’t as close to the ground was nice.
Jaco and Quepos are both about an hour away (including the dirt road). The grocery store in Parrita on the far side of town (closest to the bridge going towards Quepos) is better than the other grocery store on the closer side of town (only about 3 minutes apart).
Do the Monkey boat tour with Maurica. $35 a person and the monkeys come sit on your shoulder and eat bananas.
You will have a good time and enjoy the house as long as you understand the terrible road to get there and that you will have to do a bunch of pointing and acting to communicate with Oscar…
Our family recently completed a five-night stay at this lovingly-maintained hilltop home. The views are amazing, and wildlife is abundant. Many sites and attractions, including beaches, zip lines, rain forest hikes and national parks, are within a short drive. However, you may just want to relax on the terrace, enjoy the views and lounge by the lovely pool. The home owner is very familiar with nearby attractions and restaurants and one day led us to a nearby beach that was stunningly beautiful and nearly deserted.
My daughter and I live in Costa Rica and we have been visiting places constantly. If you are looking for the place where you can be surrounded by nature but only 45 minutes from the beach this is a perfect place.
The atmosphere that Randy creates is unforgettable. The house is clean and has all you need. There is an infinitive swimming pool where you can chill with your friends or family.
The property is surrounded by a jungle so you will see all kind of birds and toucans woke us up :) we've seen bunch of monkeys on the way to the house.
Randy has horses and will be more than happy to take you for a ride throughout the property, you'll see Costa Rican country side.
Great vacation gateway in beautiful Costa Rica!
We recently returned from a trip to this mountain estate and have nothing but great things to say. We stayed (family of 5 with 3 smaller children ages 9, 7 and 4) for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed the property. Communication with Randy was always prompt and extremely informative. He met us in the little town of Parrita which is the closest real landmark to the property and we had dinner and then went to a grocery store to stock up. He then led us for the 25 minute drive to the property which was VERY helpful as darkness was falling.
Orientation on arrival was brief and we immediately felt at home as Randy turned on the pool lights and revved up the waterfall. The kids jumped in the pool immediately while Randy helped us unpack and get situated. All bedrooms had air conditioning if you wanted it but the cool night breezes would also be plenty for some/most.
Our first day we nearly considered not leaving! We woke up and watched monkeys jump from tree to tree to for their breakfast. Later, Randy and the groundskeeper Oscar led us on a horseback ride right off the property. The grounds have tons of fruit including delicious lemon trees, starfruit and an abundance of mango (unfortunately not quite ripe for us!). The water is drinkable right out of the fountain and the pool perfect. Tons of butterflies, lizards, toads, birds (including scarlet macaws!) will delight you.
The house is somewhat off the beaten path but I absolutely look at that as a bonus. We easily drove to the quiet beaches nearby as well as Manuel Antonio for a day trip. The kitchen is well stocked with essentials for cooking and we stopped at one of the local fish stores in Quepos for red snapper which we grilled with lemons of the property trees when we returned.
This was one of three properties we stayed on during our trip in Costa Rica and a landslide favorite. Don't hesitate to come to this oasis!
