About Caribe Rentals
All of our apartments, whether in Isla Verde, Miramar or Old San Juan are like our homes. We equip, decorate and take care of them as if we lived them full time. When we travel, we don’t like staying in a hotel room. Hotels are cold and impersonal. We always look for a place where we can feel as comfortable as in our home. Each one of our apartments has our personal touch. During the year, we reserve some dates for ourselves and live in each one of them. Why? Because we like the apartments, the neighborhoods and we simply just enjoy living there. They are our homes-away-from-home. It can be yours, too. Like us, you will feel as comfortable as in your actual home.
Our apartments are available for short and long term rentals.
Lourdes or Sofia purchased this apartment in 2013
We fell in love with this property from day one. We bought the house and live downstairs. Upstairs there are two one bedroom apartments that we fully remodeled. It is on a quiet residential street. At the same time that you are in Old San Juan, you are away from the touristy area. You get the fell of Old San Juan living, the real thing.
Quiet residential street.
Very close to the ocean and to all the historic sites.
This apartment was a perfect alternative to generic resorts that you might expect on a Caribbean island. Location-wise, it was exactly where we wanted to be. It was on a quiet street, but minutes (if not seconds) away from many great bars, restaurants and attractions- touristy or local. The pictures of the apartment were spot on- it was clean and comfortable, with nothing lacking. We dealt with Lourdes and Miguel's daughter, who made "checking in" and out easy. Though we have friends in San Juan who we used for suggestions, I had no doubt that Lourdes, Miguel and Sofia would have answered any questions we had. Hosts and location are highly recommended.
Old San Juan is a walking town so everything is close. There was little to no street noise. Even with all the construction it was easy to get around. The apt was clean and the a/c cold. There is very little cross ventilation so we turned it on to sleep. The rooms cooled down quickly so we shut them off while out. The kitchen is tiny but functional. There was very little in the way of seasonings to cook with- just the basics. The dining out choices are just too good and too many to spend much time in there. The microwave was enough to reheat left overs. The bed was comfortable. We are small statured so if you "need" a larger bed the double will be a tight fit. The fold out in the living room did not look inviting but functional. The bathroom is the chink in the armor here. Counter space is non existent. There was only one roll of toilet paper for two people for a 6day stay. My wife wasn't happy that I rationed squares. The shower is huge which was convenient because the water was set to varied- hot or cold. Suddenly the temperature would change. The extra room allowed us to get out of the way. Overall this place is a great deal for what you have to pay- good location, quiet and attractive.
I had a wonderful time at this property it is perfectly located in old San Juan. It was in walking distance of everything i wanted to do like exploring the forts and tasting some authentic Puerto Rican cuisine. Lourdres and Sofia were very accommodating and even going above and beyond with the locations of some excellent restaurants and a laundromat to wash cloths. Even when my key broke and it had to be replaced they responded within seconds and made what could have been a nightmare only a slight hiccup on the trip. I would recommend this property to anyone looking to explore everything old San Juan has to offer or even just cuddling up with a book on the lush patio and chilling out. I would definitely stay here again.
I stayed at La Terraza for three nights with my Husband. The rooms were clean and full of Puerto Rican charm. We particularly enjoyed sipping mojitos the sizable porch, which makes up for the lack of view with privacy and tranquility from the cool breeze to the tinkling of the wind chimes and potted plants.
We arrived during the annual San Sebastian festival, which is a city-wide party did goes all night. We found it difficult to fall asleep for the first two nights due to the boisterous partying and clear sound from the stage performances on Plaza de la Barandilla. Definitely felt like we were right there, front row, even if we couldn't see anything. Once the festival was over, La Terraza was a beautiful oasis from the heat of PR and a cozy landing for our vacation.
Lourdes and Sofia were prompt with their communication. Once we arrived, we were given the code to a lock box on the door which contained our key. Be warned, you'll need your full body weight to pull the door into position to open and close it. We found this a bit cumbersome, along with two flights of stairs to the unit, but quickly adapted. This would not be a good place to stay if you have trouble with stairs.
We also made our own breakfast and a few dinners, as vegetarian food is not readily available in PR. We found all the necessary tools, including a percolator for our morning coffee and a small stash of spices. One of the better kitchen set ups that we have experienced.
We were steps from everything we wanted to see in Old San Juan, even stopping back at the room for a mid-day siesta on more that one occasion. I would highly recommend staying here to friends and family. It is a great deal that made a very enjoyable vacation for us both.
The property was exactly as described and suited our needs perfectly. Lourdes was there to meet us to let us in and answered all questions we had. The deposit was returned immediately after we left which was a pleasant surprise. Would definitely recommend to others.
Me and my girlfriend stayed in this very nice and cosy apartment for 2.5 months. We had a really great stay. All attractions are on walking distance. The neighborhood is also very nice and we always felt safe. Highly recommended!
If you wanna have a fun summer in Old San Juan this is the Apt to be in. I loved it! Is very cozy and with a huge terrace. Just perfect to enjoy the island, travel, and have an outdoor space to chill with your mate and/or cup of coffee.
