It is perfect for families with kids or couples looking for relaxation and the chance to explore Maine. The main house features three comfortable and nicely-decorated bedrooms and three bathrooms, with a well-appointed kitchen for those who like to cook. The living room has a fireplace for chilly evenings, and there is a den as well as a breakfast area. There is an attached barn with an upstairs game room and sleeping loft for 2-4 kids. The game room features a widescreen TV and X-box, ping-pong table, basketball game, space for arts and crafts, and a computer. The gallery on the ground-floor of the barn also affords a quiet place to read or work. There is an extensive library of books for guests to use during their stay.
The house has an authentic farmhouse feel, but has modern features such as high-speed wireless, with computers available at key locations for ease of use. The house is well furnished for comfort and is pleasing to the eye. Outside are well-kept gardens, a porch and a back patio, which includes a grill and firepit for starry summer nights.
The house is situated close to the water and the town. L.L. Bean and the Freeport outlet stores are nearby, as is a wonderful local food market and many restaurants. There is a farm stand down the road and a farmer's market a mile away on Saturdays. The L.L. Bean outdoor adventure schools (paddling, fly fishing, shooting, and more) are close by, as is Wolfe Neck Farm, which offers day camps for kids and a nearby park and walking trails. Sailing, fishing, a beach, and waterfront seafood are available close at hand. Outdoor activities abound, with cycling, boat trips on Casco Bay and other adventures available. Portland is just 20 minutes away, and there one finds superb restaurants as well as music, art and other culture. A few miles in the other direction lies Bowdoin College, which hosts an international music festival and other events each summer.
Whether you want a vacation hideaway to relax with family and friends or a comfortable base from which to explore coastal Maine and beyond, our farmhouse offers comfort, ease of use, and the chance to feel at home on your vacation.

We moved to Maine from Fairfield County Connecticut in 2011. We both grew up in this area and still have family there. Sam worked in finance in the city and Kelly worked for Kate Spade before becoming a stay-at-home mom, which she loves. We have always had a summer house on the coast of Maine, but we moved here because we loved the lifestyle. We spend our winters on the ski slopes and our summers sailing and enjoying all of the other outdoor activities the state has to offer. We have two labradors who love the beach. We love to cook and entertain, so our kitchen is fitted out for that. We expect that our tenants (our guests!) will want to make use of this too. We're a welcoming family and we want you to feel at home.
Kelly purchased this farmhouse in 2011
Our house has the virtues of a farmhouse combined with modern appliances and features. It has a country feel, but the village and the city (Portland) are not too far away. It is the best of both worlds. Our house reflects Kelly's sense of style (she spent years in the fashion industry) but is family-friendly and low-key. It's designed to be comfortable and easy to use. It is clean and well-maintained. Our goal is to make your visit one without cares.
This is a modern farmhouse with an attached barn connected by breezeway. It has 3 acres of lawn and woods, with a comfortable patio and firepit. This is great for a family because the kids get their own barn-playhouse. Our teenage son has the upstairs as his TV and game room. There are two beds up there but we have had big sleep overs too. There is a ping-pong table, small climbing wall, basketball game, computer, and X-box. You will enjoy waking up to songbrids in the morning and seeing fireflies at night. Because the air is so clear, the stars from the back porch are spread out like a canopy at night.
This was our first visit to Maine and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The house was conveniently located close to the shops, supermarkets, tourist areas and yet still gave us that feeling of being away from the hustle and bustle of a busy town. Sam, the owner, went above and beyond to fix our concern. When he was informed that the outdoor grill was not working properly, he sent someone the following day to deliver and set up a new one. He also stopped by the next day to see if there were anything else that needed his attention. The house is very well maintained, clean and spacious. The kitchen is very well stocked, plenty of counter space and with ample room for multiple people to work with. Plenty of yard space for kids to frolic around in. Their recommendations for activities and restaurants were spot on!! Thank you, Sam and Kelly, for opening your house to us and for making our first visit to Maine that much more memorable!!
Our family of 4 enjoyed our week at the farmhouse and took full advantage of the beautiful surroundings. We were able to hike, paddle board, kayak, shop, and eat our way through the Freeport and Portland areas. The owner not only provided a clean /comfortable home, but their recommendations for activities and restaurants were impressive. When we opted to stay in, the kitchen was very well-equipped. It was so nice to stay at a lovely home where everything needed was provided.
Thank you Sam and Kelly for your kind hospitality.
Freeport lies 20 minutes north of Portland. It is an outdoor community that benefits from L.L. Bean's presence and adventure offerings. There are lots of family activities ranging from hiking, fishing, sailing, or biking, to outlet shopping, antiquing, or enjoying the town's many restaurants and bars including two local breweries. Wolfe Neck Farm (just 5 minutes from the house) is a working farm that offers tours and a day camp for younger children. Freeport sits on Casco Bay and there is access to beaches, parks along the water, sea kayaking, or cruises on the bay. Seafood is plentiful and nothing beats a lobster on the pier at Harraseeket Lunch. Nearby in Portland there awaits a "foodies paradise", with many award-winning restaurants. There is a lively cultural scene with great music, museums and galleries. From Portland there is ferry service to the islands of the bay, as well as sailing and lobstering adventures from the waterfront. Our house in Freeport provides a great base for day trips or overnights up the coast to pretty seaside villages such as Bath, Wiscasset, Boothbay Harbor, and beyond. The mountains of Maine are also reachable within a couple of hours, with a trip to Baxter State Park an additional two hours or more. Maine is a vast state with the benefits of unspoiled New England coastline and a huge area of rural farmland, forests, and mountainous terrain. Whether you want a relaxed vacation close to your rental or a jumping off point for further exploration , our comfortable farmhouse will fit your needs.
