Keywords: Convenient to town, surrounded by Acadia National Park, oceanfront, all amenities, quiet end of Fernald Point Road
We built this house for our own family, and we love it. We share a large, extended family home next door which is why we sometimes rent this one.
Rebecca Williams purchased this house in 2006
Situated as it is between a quiet cove and Acadia National Park, this house makes you feel like you are 'away from it all.' And yet, it is a quick drive to the grocery store, the town of Southwest Harbor, pristine freshwater lakes, miles of bike trails and all that Mount Desert Island has to offer. Summer weather is ideal, the town is welcoming and lively, the local activities are many. This is a great spot for people who love an active outdoor vacation, on or off the water, or are just looking for a relaxing vacation surrounded by nature.
Sitting out on the deck looking at the view and watching the sailboats and the tides. Immediate access to Acadia National Park is a wonderful thing: out the back door, and the place is yours at any hour, and best of all, at off-hours. We enjoy biking to town and kayaking from Fernald Cove across to Northeast Harbor or up Somes Sound. Our favorite activity is swimming in nearby Echo Lake or Long Pond.
We so enjoyed our stay in your beautiful home on Fernald Cove last week. We had a wonderful time exploring the area, hiking, shopping, and eating in some wonderful restaurants. I think we had lobster and blueberries every day! We had already experienced spring in Arkansas and were surprised and pleased to enjoy spring a second time in Maine! I have never seen lupines before and the fields of showy blossoms were a sight to behold! We hope this will be just the first of future visits to the area. We were delighted to find your listing on VRBO and it met every expectation for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Thank you so much.
We had such a wonderful week on Mt. Desert Island and were so comfortable in this beautiful home. It is such a pleasure to rent a home where everything works -- windows, screens, kitchen, all is functioning the way it is supposed to! And we have been filled with the beauty of the view, enjoyed the deck and the yard, and taken many a walk across the street. We even took dips in the Sound! The owner was a pleasure to deal with. Thank you.
My husband and I, and 2 other couples just spent a week at this beautiful home and loved every minute. It is perfect because each couple has their own bdrm. and bath and the common areas are spacious and cosy. We were greeted with a gorgeous bouquet of lupine on the kitchen counter. The construction details of this home are amazing and agreeing with other reviews, the beds were very comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped(we only fixed breakfast), and the views will refresh your soul. We highly recommend "Il Bassino"!
We (6 adults) came from Arizona, Virginia and Minnesota for a week of family fun. We found this house to have fabulous beds and a fantastic view. It's an attractive, comfortable home with a great kitchen too. We loved everything about it.
We were four adults (two couples) without children. The correspondence before our stay with the owner was timely and friendly.
This quiet, charming, immaculate home was absolutely as described in words and pictures. All amenities were first-class. Incredible bedrooms and kitchen with lots of room throughout! Spacious living room. The views were spectacular and serene.
Large grocery store just a mile away. Quaint shops and restaurants nearby. Good hiking trails within walking distance.
This home was built with care, and the owner was both accommodating and had great communication!
Short stone path to quiet, tidal Fernald Cove, perfect for swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding. Immediate access to Flying Mountain and St. Sauveur hikes or pedestrian-only road to beautiful Valley Cove, all part of Acadia National Park. 20-30 minute walk to town or a 5 minute drive.
