Our cozy and comfortable 2BR cottage is a rare find! With signature 1930's high ceilings and hardwood floors, this charming cottage can sleep 6 (w/air mattress, couch). Side patio, front porch with swing, gourmet kitchen, gracious living room and dining room. Easy walk to UT campus, football stadium, excellent restaurants, shopping, Shoal Creek hiking/bike trail to downtown. Transit bus 1 block away. Driveway parking
I am a teacher who loves to travel. Because I have enjoyed coming back to a home (rather than a hotel) when exploring in a new place, I am pleased to offer mine! I grew up in Houston but moved to Austin for graduate school and stayed - who wouldn't? Easy access to nature, beautiful art, live music, great restaurants and, of course, the incomparable Barton Springs. I love this town!
Joan Winter purchased this cottage in 2008
I chose this property because of its superb central location to both UT, parks and downtown and because it has character and coziness - two features I most appreciate in a place and in a person.
This house was perfect for walking to nearby restaurants, bars, and the stadium. It had everything we needed, and the owner was great. I highly recommend it.
Spent two nights here over a UT football weekend....cottage is in a great location, walking distance to campus, and west campus restaurants. House has all the necessary amenities, is cozy and neighborhood is quiet. Would have liked to stay longer to enjoy the front porch, but the weekend didn't leave a lot of spare time! Texas French Bread is 3 blocks away and offered the perfect morning pastries to go along with our coffee......
We really enjoyed staying in this cottage. We came for UT graduation and it was very convenient for us. The home is comfortable, clean and very inviting.
We rented this house over Parent's weekend at UT. The location was in walking distance to campus, which was great. Our daughter loved staying with us there, and getting away from the dorm to a house setting. The house is lovely! We loved sitting on the front porch and visiting with our kids. My husband is a UT grad and loved feeling the AUstin vibe. We will be back. Thanks, Joan!
My friends and I rented from Joan for a weekend in Austin. The house is very nice. Its an older home with lots of charm. It was very clean and looks to have been kept up well. There is a swing on the front porch that is neat, too. The house has a nice area for sitting in the living room, the kitchen isnt huge but is everything you need. There are 2 bedrooms, the first having a full or queen bed (I cant remember the exact size). The second bedroom has 2 twin beds. There is only 1 bathroom, but that was not a problem for us.
The location was great for walking to restaurants/bars near Guadalupe or campus. Getting around the streets was a tight fit with cars parked on both sides of the streets, but thats all over west campus. Overall, it was a great place for a weekend getaway to be close to UT campus/Austin and I would recommend it.
Very enjoyable stay in good neighborhood that is undergoing updates with new houses and remodeling of existing. Good proximity to the University.
Owner is very enjoyable to deal with.
