Felt like home!
We were an adult family of seven across two generations returning to O’ahu and the Swell house was perfect! The house is beautifully renovated and very well laid out. The bedrooms were quiet retriets even when others stayed up later to chat around the kitchen table! The outside covered porch was beautiful and the landscaped yard amazing! I wish we had come when there was more ripe fruit but we still enjoyed what we were able to get. :) Shawn the property manager was very easy to work with, thanks Shawn! Overall we had a fantastic vacation and highly recommend the Swell House!!
A great place to stay on the north shore!
Our party of eight had a blast staying at the swell house. It was located in a quiet neighborhood, close to a delish bakery and super close to Haleiwa. The kitchen was outfitted for us to cook our meals. Having laundry was awesome. And we loved Ed, a neighbor, that came by every evening with his cockatoo, Sam.
We would definitely recommend this to everyone who is looking for a relaxing, wonderful vacation!
The Swell House is a great house located in the North Shore area. The floor plan of the home is great. It basically has two master bedrooms, both with individual bathrooms. There are 2 other rooms, one had a large bed and the other one had two singles. There is a huge kitchen and very open living area. There is a washer and dryer onsite too which got good use. The one change I would make would be more furniture in the living area. There wasn't enough seating for us to all gather to watch the TV.
There is a large outside structure that was nice to sit out in (although we did get bit a little, so bring your bug spray). The home is across the street from a well known bakery. Make sure to get a Snow Puffie.
It is central to get pretty much anywhere, as Oahu isn't a large island. We enjoyed a trip to the Polynesian Cultural Center (a must), one to the Turtle Bay Resort, a couple trips to Pearl Harbor (plan on showing up early if you want to see the Arizona) and a trip to the Dole Plantation. A stop on our way from Honolulu at Costco helped us stock the home with food so we didn't have to do too much local grocery shopping.
There is no pool and you aren't on the beach, so this isn't the beach resort experience. But it is a nicely equipped home with lots of sleeping space and a nice living area, good Internet access and secure parking area. If you're looking for a home in the North Shore area, this is a great place.
The House was amazing. It was huge and well decorated. I have stayed in other VRBO’s in the past and this by far was the best. If you want to get out of the hustle of Honolulu this is your place. The deck was awesome. It rained a couple of days while we were there and it was just nice to sit and chill outside under the deck. You will not be disappointed with the property. Money well spent
Conveniently located to North Shore beaches
Our two families with four kids under 5 had a good time at the Swell house. It's only five minutes away from Haleiwa Beach park, where we swam and surfed everyday. We stayed at the house for a week and essentially just stayed on the North Side of the island. Our farthest venture was to Keiki Beach near Turtle Bay.
The house itself was clean and spacious enough for our two families. The outdoor space was great, although you hear ample street noise from Kaukonahuna Rd. during the day. It quieted down though by 6 pm. The bakery and ice cream store across the street were a huge plus. The house was well stocked. If we needed anything, we drove five minutes to Longs or Malama market in Haleiwa. Of course, there is also the Paalaa Kai mini-mart across the street. The house also provided plenty of beach gear and towels.
Some cons: The living room looked brighter in the pictures. There's no natural light coming into that space, so it's quite dark during the day. The kitchen is dark at night. Needs task lighting by the sink and counters. Street noise detracts from very nice outdoor space.
Amazing! Wish I could stay forever, or take it home with me!
The house was close to everything we needed, and the neighbors very welcoming, especially Sam and his owner 🐦🐦🐦🐦. Perfect for our family, and made great memories as our kids get to start married life in paradise. We will certainly be back!
