The house is clean, large, and your book collection is great. The house was great and everyone enjoyed themselves. We had a very nice time. Thank you for sharing your home.
Great customer service, the Owner was incredibly responsive and detail oriented with instructions and information on the house. The house was fantastic; big, open spacious, airy, lots of comfortable rooms and beds. There's a great sense of openness and light to the house and a nice separation of living (bedrooms) upstairs and common living space on the main level. Kitchen had all necessary cooking essentials, the house is wired for Wi-Fi throughout. A separate den area, kids play room, and big open living room provide ample spaces to spread out, play, watch TV, or relax. Just minutes from Great Barrington this is an ideal rental for a family, family and extended family or even multiple families. We would stay here again!
Location was ok - but I do not recommend staying at this house if you have children. They have 2 staircases and both are very dangerous (even for adults). There was a door opening out of the master bedroom straight into the staircase. Unfortunately, one child fell backwards all the way down the stairs - the parent jumped out, trying to grab her - he fell down as well and got badly injured. We made sure the owners were aware of this but we did not get any response from them at all - I was expecting at least a light apology, but nothing at all.
In any case, I just want to prevent anyone else from getting injured in the future.
Also, the heat stopped working the last day we were there. The thermostat read 58 degrees! Contacted the person in charge and someone came to look at it about 2 hours later. Unfortunately we were told it was not working so we used the space heaters that were available at the house. Ended up leaving earlier than planned since it was cold in the house.
We will not be going back to this house... I hope they fix some things up in the house before renting it out to anyone else.
The property is very spacious and clean. Descriptions were very accurate and the owner was very responsive. Definitely book this property again in the future.
My family of four and a friend's family of four wanted to have a relaxing weekend to catch up and explore the Berkshires. We found this house to be exactly what we wanted; we spent a lot of time inside, enjoying the jacuzzi and baking in the quaint kitchen. All of the amenities worked well, and the kids really loved the PS3 and Netflix. Since we're from the city, we were really looking forward to the gorgeous leaves and lots of space, which was exactly what we got. We will definitely be coming back again.
This house served us well as we needed a place for a bunch of people to stay where we could have privacy, a bonfire, and enjoy time with good friends. It could definitely benefit from a few updates, we almost fell through the back stairs as they are rotting out and make sure if you are renting for a holiday weekend you figure out how to remove your trash because the dump is not open on holidays. Also, some of the windows don't have screens so if you open the windows there will be bugs!
Also, some Airbnb/homeaway/VRBO places are not well stocked. This one was!! They had spices, toilet paper, paper towels, spare linens, pillows, books for a lifetime of reading, throw pillows and blankets, games and more!
Overall we were happy with our stay and it definitely served us well for the weekend.
We stayed in the house during the foliage time, and had the opportunity to enjoy warmer weather on the spacious porch and colder time inside. During the day we hiked in the mountains around and we then very happy to return to hot water (kids even filled the hot tub), spacious and well equipped kitchen and many spaces to rest in groups or in solitude.
In the evenings we usually either played table games or sang together in the large recreation room.
Something we appreciated a lot are high quality books all around the house.
Right by the house (on foot, next driveway) there is an apple farm so we enjoyed cider and fresh apples too.
The view from the porch is mainly the mountains ridge - very pretty.
The big windows in the kitchen, dining room and family room allow a great view on wildlife: birds we had to look up their name, and one morning we saw a bobcat and her two kittens walk out from the woods to the back yard.
Finally, there is a special game room for little ones, with cars and toys and stuff.
All in all, a really relaxing time in a very accessible and comfortable house.
