The house boast 4 large bedrooms 3 full bathrooms. Their is a large kitchen that is fully equipped and a living room with a wood burning fireplace. Enjoy the sunshine on the large wrap around deck. The views of the Rocky mountains are at your door step, ENJOY. Also if you are a horse owner, we have a enclosed area to bring your horses. There are numerous trails to take your hoses on trail rides, you'll enjoy specular views on the thousands of acres of crown land that adjoins Douglas Lake Ranch.

Why Gregory and Georgina Koch chose British Columbia

Douglas Lake Ranch is a 360 acre ranch that is located in the British Columbia Rockies and was established in 1896. What has drawn me to this location is the abundance of nature and the spectacular natural beauty of the Canadian Rocky mountains. My wife and myself, have been given the opportunity to run our family guest ranch approximately 2 miles away and have hosted about 175 weddings since we have owned both of these ranches. Over the past years about 15,000-20,000 people from around the world have visited our location and also have enjoyed the beauty that we get enjoy every day.

What makes this cabin unique

At Douglas Lake Ranch we have enclosed an area approximately 2 acres in size that will allow horse owners to bring there own horses. There are thousands of acres of Crown Land that adjoin DLR. Please bring your own horses and enjoy the specular trails and views of the Canadian Rocky Mountains.

Einfach alles perfekt

Meine Frau, unsere drei Kinder und ich waren für fast 2 Monate Gäste in dem Haus und es war grossartig! Die Betreiber Gina und Greg sind klasse und sorgen für einen perfekten Ablauf von allem. Das Haus ist super ausgestattet, in aller bestem Zustand und es fehlt an nichts.

Die Umgebung ist ebenso grossartig (Bären, Berglöwen und Rehe kann man dort beobachten, viele glasklare Seen in der Umgebung...) und trotztem ist Cranbrook gut mit dem Auto erreichbar und dort findet man alles was man braucht.

Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder und wir können dieses Haus nur jedem absolut empfehlen!

Urlaub auf der BRR mitten in den Rocky's

Meine Frau und ich sind gerade wieder von unserem 4-wöchigen Urlaub auf der Bull-River-Guest-Ranch in Cranbrook, BC, Kanada, zurück. Da wir seit 1993 dort unseren Urlaub verbringen, kennen wir die zur Verfügung stehenden Unterkünfte nur zu gut. Und so können die Eindrücke nicht durch die Fotos dargestellt werden.

Das Douglas-Lake-House hat unsere Erwartungen weit übertroffen. (Mehr als 5 Sterne-Unterkunft).

Das Haus wurde liebevoll, von Grund auf restauriert und mit modernen Armaturen aktualisiert. Viel frische Handtücher, auch Reinigungsmittel für Geschirrspüler und Waschmaschine! Alles sehr, sehr sauber und sehr durchdacht eingerichtet.

Die Küche ist mehr als komplett ausgestattet. Viele Teller, Tassen, Gläser, Tischsets, Essgeschirr und Besteck, etc. und auch ein BBQ-Gasgrill steht zur Verfügung. Als leidenschaftliche Hobbyköche hatten wir einfach alles, was wir brauchten, um allen unseren Freunde sogar ausgefallene Menüs zubereiten und servieren zu können.

Die wertvollen Möbel und Geräte sind in neuwertigen Zustand.

Man kann sagen, dass ein fantastischer, professioneller Designer mit viel Liebe an netten Details das Haus gestaltet hat.

Exquisit gepflegt. Es ist (im Augenblick) das letzte Haus der Bull-River-Ranch auf der Schotterstraße, km 15,5. Der herrliche, ungehinderte Ausblick auf die „Steeples“ und den Douglas-Lake sind unbeschreiblich.

Wir hatten wunderbare Wochen, haben uns die ganze Zeit „wie zu Hause“ gefühlt und wir würden dieses Haus nur Jedem, der die Gegend besuchen möchte, ans Herz legen!

Die Manager Gina und Greg sowie das gesamte Team widmen der Bull-River-Ranch täglich einen unglaublichen Einsatz. So ist die Kommunikation mit Allen ausgezeichnet und Alle sind immer sehr hilfreich.

Dank an unsere Freunde, Gina & Greg, dafür verantwortlich, dass unser Aufenthalt wieder einmal in jeder Hinsicht perfekt war. Wir können die Bull-River-Guest-Ranch mit ruhigem Gewissen, vor allem das „Douglas-Lake-House“, geeignet für 10 Personen allen Interessierten gern weiter empfehlen.

Wir haben bereits eine Reservierung und werden im September nächstes Jahr wiederkommen!

Vacation at the BRR with gorgeous panorama

My wife and I just returned again from our perfect vacation in BC Canada, spent four weeks on the Bull-River-Guest-Ranch, since 1993.

Incredible property, I don't think the pictures do it justice!

The Douglas-Lake-House exceeded our expectations. (more than five stars- accommodation)

The house has been beautifully restored and updated with modern fixtures. Plenty of clean towels, even detergent for dishwasher and washing machine! Everything very, very clean and very thoughtfully considered.

Kitchen fully equipped. Plenty of plates, cups, glassware, placemats, kitchen pots and utensils, etc. We had everything we needed to make and serve meals for all our friends.

The valuable furnishings and appliances are looking in great new condition.

You can tell that a professional awesome designer put love into this place, with many nice touches.

Exquisitely maintained. It is (at the moment) the last house at the gravel-road, km 15.5 and so the views of the Steeples and Douglas-Lake were unobstructed - fabulous views.

We had marvelous weeks, enjoyed our whole time immensely, and we would recommend this house to anyone going to visit the area!

Gina and Greg takes every day an amazing care of the whole Guest-Ranch, communication is excellent and they are every time very helpful. We highly recommend this beautiful and well-located property with the wonderful managers.

Thanks to our friends, Gina & Greg for making sure our stay were perfect in every way. We will definitely recommend the Bull-River-Guest-Ranch, especially the Douglas-Lake-House, appropriate for 10 People to friends and family and everyone.

We have by now a reservation and will come back next year in September again!

Peace and solitude

We stayed at Douglas Lake Ranch for 3 nights as the midpoint in a trip primarily to Glacier NP in Montana and Banff. Both my wife and I agreed, staying at the ranch was the highlight of our trip - we would have loved to stay longer.

The property is beautifully set in a shallow valley with a wrap-around deck that gives 270 degree views across the meadows in the valley and the woods on the far side. The property has a large lawn that was ideal for our young kids and I enjoyed taking the kayak that comes with the property out onto the lake, even though there wasn't much water left at the end of a very dry summer. It was a delight seeing the deer playing in the meadows in the evenings.

The building had only just been renovated and so is in excellent condition, in particular the kitchen is well equipped and the ac systems are very good. Greg and Gina, the owners, who run the guest ranch 2km away were very helpful and invited us over to use the hot tub at the guest ranch and let the kids feed the goats and ponies.

To me the real beauty of this pace is the peace, solitude and natural beauty: it is about 15km up an excellent quality unsealed road (definitely no need for a 4wd in the summer months), with no tv or wifi - normally I would have really missed the Wi-Fi but on this occasion, I can honestly say it really helped me relax and disconnect from work.

We were a small party of two adults and two youngish kids but the property is probably better suited in size to either a slightly larger family or multiple couples.

Situated in the middle of the broad Rocky Mountain Trench, Cranbrook boasts more sunshine than anywhere else in British Columbia. The wilderness, abundant wildlife, and quite lakes and hikes complement the town' s lure. History buffs and adrenaline junkies alike will find plenty to do in Cranbrook. Located just 30 minutes from the house is Fort Steele Heritage Town, which boasts 60 heritage shops, gold panning, horse drawn carriage rides and much more. There are many opportunities to go biking or hiking on the many trails that surround the house. Fisher Peak located 20 kilometers away is the highest and most appealing summit of the southern Rocky Mountains at 9336 feet (2846 meters). For the golf players, just 30 km away are sea of golf courses which include, Shadow Mountain, St Eugene and Wildstone Golf Courses. For the more daring try some of the local white river rafting, which offer grade 1, 2 and 3 rivers. Also surrounding the house are three of the best fly fishing rivers in the Eastern British Columbia. The Elk River, St Mary's and the Bull River offering you brown, rainbow and cutthroat trout. Just 15 minutes away is Kootenay Trout hatchery that gives daily tours of the hatchery and offers a fishing pond for the kids. As for wildlife viewing, the house is located on 360 acres located amongst 1000's of crown land which boasts black bears, grizzly bears, elk, white tail, mule dear, bobcats, lynx's, cougars, they often reference our area as the Serengeti of the Rocky mountains. Also located on the property is Douglas Lake, which from the house you can take a canoe and paddle up the stream to the private lake and enjoy all of the birds that make this lake their home and maybe also see a moose feeding on the shore of the lake. Mid May through to July the house has a special treat in that hundreds of hummingbirds make this area there home. The species include the Rufous, Black-chinned and the Calliope hummingbirds. On the property we also offer a fenced in area to bring your own horses to enjoy the miles of back country horse back riding that surround the property. In the winter the surrounding snow hills, Fernie and Kimberly ski resorts offer powder skiing, snowboarding and cross country skiing. For the back country enthusiasts there is back country skiing, snowshoeing dogsledding and tobogganing.
