Esterillos Oeste is the ideal vacation destination community of choice in Costa Rica. Starting out as a small fishing village on the Central Pacific Coast of Costa Rica, Esterillos Oeste is rapidly becoming the most desirable beach in Costa offering dark sand beaches, small fishing boats on the beach, green palm trees overhanging the beach, a sea turtle preserve and a consistently good surf break with many other world class breaks within a few minutes drive. This is truly a paradise!
This Villa is located about 75 feet from the ocean, 20 minutes south of Jaco on the central Pacific coast of Costa Rica. It is a 1 1/2 hour drive from the International Airport in San Jose and it is in a very small development named Rocamar Villas. There are four buildings and a guard's quarters along with a beautiful pool. All owners are absentee owners and there is a good chance that you will have it all to yourself. A full time security guard is present and we are fenced and gated. A large statue of the mermaid 'Serena' stands in the ocean to look over the fisherman and yes... you can buy fish right off the boats and grill them on your roof top observation deck. Our two favorite places for food and drinks are the Almendros and El Vagos...both are great.
Our Villa has 1 large bedroom (queen size bed) and two baths with showers. We also have large custom futon. Marble floors, granite counter tops, fully equipped kitchen and a laundry room in our villa makes for a comfortable, easy vacation. For your use we have air Conditioning, cable TV, high speed computer service, wifi, and fishing equipment.
The property is maintained 24 hrs a day by our security/ pool guy/ grounds keeper. Your comfort and safety are never compromised at Rocamar Villas.

Rick lives in Daytona Beach, Fl, A retired firefighter that loves to surf and fish has found costa rica to be a perfect fit.
rick shiver purchased this villa in 2005
In 2002 I visited Costa Rica and fell in love with the people and culture. I found myself returning again and again. Tiring of hotels and restaurant food, I decided to buy. My first visit here, a scarlet Macaw landed beside me and began eating almond off of the picnic table. I knew that this would be my second home.
Sunrises at around 5AM. Grab a cup of coffee and sit on our rooftop deck to watch the beach come to life. We have THE BEST view of the beach and beautiful, birds, iguanas and surrounding area. The surf out front is great. A 1 hour walk to Punta Mala (bad point) is an experience you will treasure forever.
"Amy and I can't say enough good things about the villa and Esterillos Oeste. The villa was clean and bright and the grounds where phenomenal. You were right, Tracy didn't speak a lick of english, but was super friendly and we managed to get exactly what we needed from her. I guarantee, no matter where you travel in the world, there is no place that will have the array of characters found in Esterillos Oeste, both tico and gringo! We had an absolute ball...everyone was friendly and helpful. Brett gave me my first surf lesson, which makes me a proud member of the Soda Mary Surf Team! Amy's highlight was the Chicle Canopy Tour and her Mahi Mahi at Los Almendros (probably the best meal we have had in months)! We took your advise and got in the rental car and explored. We drove as far south as Playa Ventanas, where we saw what I would consider the most beautiful beach I have ever been on. Thanks so much for allowing us to take part of your "piece of paradise", we had the time of our life!"
We spent several weeks at Rocamar Villa in November/December. The villa was comfortable & had everything we needed. We especially enjoyed the the rooftop deck, the beautiful pool, the proximity to the beach, and Tracy - always there and very helpful. We spent most of our time in Esterillos, eating at local restaurants, exploring the area, and enjoying the beautiful and fascinating wildlife - from Scarlet Macaws to giant iguanas and monkeys. We did explore up and down the coast as well - many beautiful beaches, cool towns and national parks a short drive away. It was an unforgettable experience and we hope to return soon. Pura vida.
We were very happy with the place. Such great access to the beach since it was directly on the beach. We loved the little community it was in. Everyone was so nice. Tracey was great. She works so hard and it shows. The pool was great but HOT. Which isn't a problem for me. Great hot weather. My only issue was that none of the outdoor lights worked. Which wasn't a huge deal since we were so tired at night we went to bed quite early. But it would have been helpful for the stairs and shining on the lock so we could see where to put the key. Something very minor but thought owner should know about it so it can be taken care of. All in all we would definitely rent again and Richard the owner is so helpful in making everything happen. Thank you for a great vacation.
Perfect location, so close to the beach! Enjoyed the evenings on the rooftop looking at the ocean, hearing the waves.... Nice pool and grounds, too. Apartment could need some do up, but for us with 2 small kids it worked well.
This villa is roomy, 2 bathrooms, private roof top canopy and is exactly as advertised.
The villas are in gated community with private clean pool and Pacific Ocean short walk from gate
Grocery store, fruit stand and fresh caught fish within 3-5 blocks
If you love extended walks along endless beach, huge waves,sunrise/sunsets and overall tranquility
This is the spot along the Esterillos shore. Not much to do; weather is constant 35 degrees just learn to
RELAX. Never once approached or felt threatened. Costa Rican people were quick to please.

This rental is really steps from the beach! You can hear the thunder of the Great Pacific night and day. The rooftop veranda is lovely to hangout on anytime. The veranda has great views of the ocean and the neighboring wild life. We saw lots of macaws! The interior has super a/c and has all the amenities: microwave, coffee maker, utensils of every kind and has pots and pans. The bed is comfortable. The plumbing is great! The furnishings are rather dull. It's sort of like going back to the 70's but it is ok. One issue, which is no fault of Rick and Ginny, is that there is major construction going on next door. This can be very loud at times. They start at 7am and end at 7pm. If you are out and about, this will be a non-issue. The caretaker, Tracy is always around. She's a real sweetheart. She keeps the pool and grounds in pristine condition. Everything is clean and neat. You will love the peace and quiet of this lovely property at night. You can see the stars! Five star rating goes to this property!
Our stay at RocaMar Villas was one of the standout pleasures of our life. Situated in a small (7 units) gated compound, a very short walk to the beach and surf, this place is actively maintained, and very comfortable. As with any tropical housing, there are the routine issues to contend with (anything allowed to be hung and wet will develop mildew quickly, pay attention to the degree of cleanliness and the closure of all doors/windows to deny unwonted insect visitors, and geckos) any location this close to the equator. The nearby SuperSol mini-mart was able to fulfill most of our needs, though the drive to Jaco ($30USD roundtrip) every few weeks is likely needed. In addition there is a "good humor man," in addition to a man hawking eggs from his truck, and others similarly passing by, just outside the compound, selling fruits, vegetables, ceviche, and breads. The many hours we spent in the chaises under the umbrellas, dunking in the cooler (relatively) water swimming of the swimming pool is a delight. This quiet, private, serene facility is ideal for us with lots of opportunity to read, lounge, walk the beach, body surf, and generally unplug (though there is wi-fi and US TV available, if that's what you want) and unwind. Caveat: If you're looking for glitz, throbbing night life, para-sailing, or any of that sort of activity, they are available a short drive distant, but not locally. There are a few small-ish restaurants nearby (walking distance), and we had a LP gas fired two burner stove on our rooftop rancho, plus a charcoal grill. Speaking of the rancho - this too was a source of great serenity. We started off almost all our days drinking our morning coffees and watching the surfers, the natural beauty, of the view, the pace, the surrounding vegetation (almond trees, mango trees, and more). From our unit it was only a 20 minute beach walk to opportunities to see the monkeys and sloths indigenous to the area. As we said to each other many, many a morning: Thank you, God, for yet another day in paradise! There is a caretaker/maintenance person/font of wisdom and connections with the local area, general go-to person, living on site. The only reason I give it a 4 instead of 5 stars is that though part of the charm of the place is the seclusion, the isolation, they can be downsides as well. None-the-less, I give a hearty endorsement to RocaMar Villas for a once in a lifetime experience, and as proof, we are already making plans to return soon.
