Family friendly Georgian bay cottage with beach and world class fishing.

Bedrooms 3
Property type cottage

About the property

Family friendly Georgian bay cottage with beach and world class fishing. Great Dock!

For the summer we are only taking week long bookings at this time.

- 3 bedrooms. Two bedrooms have double beds. One has adult sized bunk beds and a fold out couch. All bedrooms have storage space for clothing and the like.

- World class Walleye (10+ lb), Musky (50"+), Bass (6+lb Smallies), Pike (40"+) caught every year. You can catch any of these in Trophy sizes literally meters away.

- The shoreline is split between a beach and some smooth bedrock. Once in the water the perfect sand beach extends for 100s of feet in all directions and stays 3ft deep or less well over 100ft from shore.

- The yard is mostly flat with grass and a fire pit. Plenty of room for the kids to play or dogs to roam.

- Parking is ample with room for 5+ vehicles.

- 25 minute drive from Parry Sound (Sobeys, Walmart, Canadian Tire, Restaurants, Hospital, everything you could need).

- With good traffic you can be at the front door in 2,5 hours from the intersection of HW401 and HW400. 3 hours is a likely travel time for those leaving from the GTA.

Cozy, remote cottage, great for families

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our week stay at Justin's cottage this past August. Caretaker, Irene was super friendly and helpful with questions - like where to buy firewood, and suggestions - like where to have out of this world locally caught fish and chips! It's about 25 minutes off the highway and then another 20/30 mins to Parry Sound so be sure to bring what you need for a few days. The weather was a bit cooler this year so we didn't really get in the water, but we enjoyed playing in the yard, fishing off the dock (no luck), canoeing, and gorgeous sunsets with bbqs and bonfires every night. Our party of 6 - 4 adults and 2 kids were comfortable in the space and thankful for the heaters which all worked well. The cottage was clean with plenty of bed linens and pillows but no towels are provided. The kitchen has everything you need including sharp knives, pots and pans, dishes/utentils for many, tea towels and basic necessities, including a bottled water cooler for drinking because the tap water is quite hard. We were thankful to find a fresh bottle waiting for us on arrival and had no problem picking one up (for $3) on our midweek trip to town. Parry Sound is about 45 minutes away and has pretty much anything you need. We had dinner at a place called Wellington's one night (recommended by the local gas station guy) and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. There's no internet at the cottage but cell service was quite good despite being so remote. There's a TV which we used with our mobile internet to stream Netflix a few times. We walked the local roads in the mornings but wished there were more trails nearby as it was all private property. There are a few provincial parks within an hour's drive, so we went for a hike at Grundy park then stopped for stellar (pickerel) fish n chips at the local spot recommended by Irene, Paynes Dockside Fish 'n' Chips, on the way back. We also went to the local Norse Brewery for a tasting. Overall we really enjoyed our stay in Skerryvore. Many thanks to Justin and Irene!
