Villa Rosso di Sera is a spectacular retreat home in a Caribbean style with a Mediterranean feeling. Set on a ridge overlooking picturesque Taylor Bay on the ocean and iridescent Chalk Sound , it captures the ocean breezes which naturally flow through the entire house. It sits in lush tropical gardens surrounding an idyllic, private swimming pool with its spacious patios offering sun decks and outdoor dining.
Spacious living and dining areas are enhanced by a fully equipped kitchen complete with stainless steel appliances, granite counters and also has an adjacent wet bar that is a natural area for conversation.
The four well appointed luxurious bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms are situated to maximize unique views. All bedrooms have king size beds with two of them able to be separated into king singles. The bedrooms are spread over the three floors, allowing much privacy for a variety of accommodation
Designed and built by the owner who is a builder by profession, it is the result of studying Caribbean style for over 20 years. There are screened areas to dine and relax, a total of four places to dine in the house and around the pool. The upper floor has terraces with ocean views on three sides so there is always a right place to catch the breeze or take a nap. Nestled on one of the many porches is a double hammock for that necessary afternoon drift off!
The fully mature tropical landscaping provides a secluded feeling to the property, especially around the walled pool and generous deck area. The pool is 16 x 26' with an generous stair entry on one side that doubles as a conversation pit. The pool is 4'-6' deep which makes it very safe for children and adults but still allows for swimming lengths. The walls around the generous 2000 sf. pool deck makes the villa a very attractive setting for family gatherings and special events.
Attention to architectural detail is a hallmark throughout the house -the finishes are rustic and relaxed. Entirely trimmed out in Caribbean cedar inside and Western Red Cedar outside, the color palette is a mix of pale yellow, ocher and reddish browns that is soothing to the eye.
Other amenities include a private gym, a spacious hot tub, flat panel television in every room, Wi Fi throughout and kayaks. Guests have the use of private tennis courts nearby.
Above all, a short 2-3 minute walk brings you to secluded Taylor Bay Beach which rarely has more than a few people on it's entire half mile length. The water is usually quite warm as it is a protected lagoon and the fine white sand and shallow slope to the beach makes it especially appealing for young children and adults alike. The villa comes equipped with kayaks , beach chairs , beach umbrellas, coolers and snorkeling equipment, all of which enhance the beach experience.
The owners maintain a small guest house on one corner of the property that is strategically situated to ensure your privacy. When they are on island, they are there to be of any assistance as need be , but otherwise practice 'invisibility'
My partner and I are fortunate to own Villa Rosso di Sera. We bought this enchanting Caribean home in mid 2015 from its original owner, an architect-builder who built these types of special villas on Providenciales for 26 years. In 2006 he finished this one for himself; it is the culmination of his experience in this island both in design and quality of finish. He created an elegant rustic style with spacious, airy rooms and a Mediterranean color palette that would age gracefully. I hope you will agree that this is an unusually gracious Caribbean home.
We both live in New England and revel in the outstanding scenery, variety and climate here in the Turks and Caicos. It is indeed a very special place. I hope you come and see what we mean.
Susana Duncan purchased this villa in 2006
We chose this property as it sits on a ridge where it captures both spectacular views of Chalk Sound and the ocean and the constant cooling breezes, which properties right on the beach do not. The beach is very close by and, as it is a public beach, any privacy issues and sand flies we don't have to deal with at all on the ridge. These are hidden benefits you only find out by spending time here. Also, we offer an idyllic tropical setting for your vacation at a more modest cost than a house right on the beach.
Villa Rosso di Sera is very private with its walled gardens and pool -- more like an oasis. Although we have neighbours, the tropical landscaping is lush, such that you really don't notice them or have to be concerned about them. The house ventilates very well and everyone comments on the breezes that constantly flow through the house. The solar-heated pool with its ample sunning and and quiet reading decks is especially appreciated by visitors as pools that are not heated are quite cool in the winter months. We especially like to cook and entertain and the kitchen and dining facilities make it really easy to welcome small and larger groups. We have four different dining areas including a very special round table under a capacious gazebo out by the pool .
Many thanks for sharing your beautiful home with us. We've had the fortunate opportunity to visit many isles in the Caribbean and T&C was simply as good as it gets. We'll be back
And again thank you.
The home is simply outstanding and designed to perfection. The house is situated such that it captures the breezes and is cool inside leaving no need for air conditioning (at least in the month we were there). There are several screened in areas giving it a true outdoor/indoor feel. The master is fantastic with two porches that view Chalk Sound and one screened in porch. The porches can be reached without having to go through the Master, which is great. The bedrooms are on three levels with two on the main. The nice thing is, unlike some homes in the area, the 4th bedroom is accessible through the main home, not through the outside. The beds were all comfortable with nice linens. The towels were also plush and we had plenty of them. The kitchen is nice and well stocked. There is plenty of seating throughout the home for large groups. We stayed here with two families and it never felt crowded. The pool area is nice, as well, but the kids LOVED the hot tub, which was working while we there (unlike a previous review stated). The walk to the beach isn't bad at all and despite construction, which seems to only have interior work left to be done, a clear path makes it easy to get to.
We have been to the island several times and this is our favorite house.
This is the second time we have stayed at Villa Rosso di Sera. The first time it was with 3 couples and 3 kids. This time it was with 2 couples and 5 kids. Both families fit perfectly in the house, with privacy and room to spare.
The upstairs Master is the most beautiful bedroom in a house I've ever slept in on vacation with a screen porch that overlooks the pool, a sunrise porch off the back that overlooks Chalk Sound.....truly a special spot in the morning for sunrise yoga, and a breezy deck with sitting furniture for four for nightly sunset cocktails. The sunset is not as visible on the porch as it is ON Taylor Bay, which is but a 280 step walk away (and the most beautiful beach EVER. period.) but since the deck is accessible from the stairs, other guests can enjoy it without entering the master. Brilliant design.
As other reviewers stated, the kitchen is well stocked, however the sheet pans are a little lacking. We cook everything in the oven and needed a few more. We didn't ask for them but I'm sure they would have provided them.
We did ask for more towels (there were only two per bedroom and no washcloths) and Mel went straight to the store and bought luxurious new towels for us.
The pool felt amazing, cool enough so that it didn't feel like bath water. The kids played and played and played. There are no immediate neighbors and the house is extremely private, so we let them splash and laugh, and scream a little as kids do, and it didn't feel wrong or rude. The pool is basically a 4ft pool with some wide stairs so its a great pool for lounging and games but not diving.
The most amazing thing about this house is the breeze that blows through the screen porch on the front to the screen porch on the back. If its hot as blazes outside, it somehow always has a breeze indoors and the sun never bakes the inside. We have never needed AC except at night. For the first few nights we did sleep with windows open upstairs, and it was lovely albeit a bit loud! The wind really howls! But all the AC's cool the bedrooms down very well and it is comfortable. There is not an uncomfortable bed in the house, including the cot.
The house is beautifully built, attention to detail amazing, and every thing about Villa Rosso di Sera will help you to have the most amazing vacation ever.
The house is fabulous, kitchen well stocked, location near beach, but please don't advertise things if you don't provide them and by this I mean the hot tub. Had invisioned a nightly drink in the hot tub. It is a cold tub. I suspect that by the time a renter complains it is two days in, then someone comes to look at it, and says they will fix it, and then it is time to leave. The repair person said others have complained., as well. He said there is no manual for the tub so they don't know how to fix it. Also the showers were never over maybe luke to cold. They say things are heated by solar, like the pool! But the pool was too cold for me. Much colder than the ocean. The house is laid out great for 3 groups. We had the basement bedroom, which was fine. This was our first trip to TCI. The Thursday fish fry was cancelled due to weather. We were happy to have rented a car, you couldn't not have a car. Driving on the left is an adventure. Pot holes everywhere, and speed bumps. We have been to many beaches. This water color is spectacular. But as far as a beach experience I would say Hilton Head or even Destin FL, is better. Snorkeling was ok, but we had better snorkeling in St Martin. If ownership changed in 2015, then maybe the new owners need to get the hot tub fixed or tell folks it does not work. Also the book says they keep it at 97, really? A hot tub should be 102. Anyway it was low 70's. The others in our group didn't care about the hot tub. So if you don't care, this is the place to go.
We loved the home for our trip celebrating the high school graduation of my oldest and his friends. It was a great layout for our party of 8 - my family of 5 plus my mother-in-law and two teen friends...plenty of room to be together but also to not be on top of each other. The outdoor spaces and indoor/outdoor spaces were so great and we went from terrace/porch to terrace/porch throughout the day from sunrises to sunsets and hammock naps in between. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook in several nights, including cooking the fish we caught that day and even baking a couple nights. The pool, tennis courts, hot tub and Taylor Bay beach were fantastic.
Sometimes we were a bit warm in the common areas, but most of the time the ceiling fans and breezes were great...we loved having the airflow.
We felt very well taken care of by Julien. We needed to call a few times and he was very responsive.
It was a dream having two complete washer/dryers on the main level...so easy to throw a load in that we all came home with clean clothes instead of dirty.
The home is very well-stocked, with sunscreens, bug repellent, basic first aid supplies etc, as well as snorkeling gear. We enjoyed the kayaks too.
If staying in the main part of town is important to you, this is not a place for you, but we were fine with being remote and it's easy to find your way. Rental cars are a must and Julien also gave us a taxi contact. There were a few little things (wobbly handles etc., but that's true of every home, including mine!)
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Villa Rosso Di Sera. There was not a thing that was not provided in the home. The kitchen had everything necessary for meals and even had lots of start-up essentials. The pool was refreshing and there were plenty of beach towels provided. The locations is great, away from the hustle and bustle of Grace Bay but within short driving distance to great restaurants and the airport. Car rental was easy and the island is very simple to navigate. The kayaks were fun to use in Sapodilla Bay. The constant breeze eliminated the need for air-conditioner use. We would love to return to Provo and would probably rent the same villa again.
Our family celebrated our son's high school graduation on the island. Rosso Di Sera was the perfect house for the 8 of us. Everything was even better than the website pictures show. Dinesh and Julian were incredible and so friendly and helpful. They met us at the airport and even helped us with our luggage. They made sure that we were settled in and called a couple of times during the week to make sure all was good. We spent a lot of time around the pool and Taylor Bay was only a 2 minute walk. We took the kayaks out a couple of times to Taylor Bay. The beach is white sand and the water is only waste deep for nearly 100 yards out. The house is fully equipped and the kitchen had everything you need to prepare meals. We split the week in going out (The Thursday night Fish Fry is a must) and cooking on the grill. Our week flew by way to quickly and can't wait to go back some day.
Rosso di Sera is located in the beautiful pristine Chalk Sound Area, a quiet, residential and upscale neighbourhood, with stunning sunset views and a quiet pace of life. A 2 min. walk gets you to secluded and almost private Taylor Bay which has a beautiful shallow waters and a half mile crescent of soft white sand beach.
Other Activities: Boating, Shopping, Kayaking, Miniature Golf, Golf, go-carts
Golf: Provo Golf Club is 10 miles away, a superb, challenging course and one of the top rated in the Caribbean.
