The cottage has all the charm of 1900 with 21st century amenities. It is a one bedroom private get-away, one full bath and outside shower. You will be 1/2 mile from Cooks Brook Beach (2 mins. by car). Inside has high pickle-board ceilings, bead-board, painted wood floors, and all the amenities - two flat screen TVs with cable TV and wifi. Gas fireplace, AC, porch w/day beds, washer/dryer add to a comfortable stay. The cottage is approximately 3 miles from the National Sea Shore, Wellfleet Bay Audubon Nature Center, the Wellfleet Drive-In and a host of restaurants and mini-golf. The lot is large and private with gardens, deck, shady pergola and plenty of off-street parking. Guests provide own towels and linens.
Feathered nest is built for carefree days. Not cluttered with gadgets and the one level with washer dryer is perfect. I loved the outside sitting area, the main reason I chose to stay here.
As good as advertised, maybe better. Beautifully put together, and everything worked well. Excellent lighting, good air conditioning, wifi that never missed a beat! Close enough to visit the ocean beaches and still enjoy sunset on the bay. Quiet, clean and with lovely grounds this is a great natural setting. Birds, birds and at least one morning hummingbirds! A joy to vacation at the Feathered Nest.
Owners responded immediately to o any questions we had.
We couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay during our week in the Cape. The cottage was just as beautiful and clean in person as in the pictures. It had all the amenities we needed and then some. Bob was great to work with when booking and when preparing to go on our trip. I would recommend this rental to anyone looking for a nice relaxing getaway!
The cottage was newly renovated, very clean & nicely decorated. It included everything you could possibly need during your stay. It was also in an amazing location, very close to a bay side beach & within a few minutes drive to the national seashore. We would definitely be interested in staying there again!
We enjoyed every minute of our stay at this lovely little cottage! It has all of the comforts and amenities that a small family or couple would need. The beautiful outdoor gardens were perfect spaces for reading and relaxing, and we appreciated having a couple of different areas where we could dine alfresco. Nothing says beach vacation like an outdoor shower too! There's something so refreshing and reinvigorating about looking up at the wide open sky while washing off the salt water and sand from a day at the beach, which is just a quick car ride or 1/2 a mile down the road.
Check in and communication with Rene and Bob about staying at the cottage was flawless. They're very responsive to questions and can provide all of the information that you need to maximize you time and plan the perfect day trips/activities for your family. The cottage has lots of menus and local guides for the area too.
As far as advice about location and what's around town for good eats...We purchased groceries at the Suprette, which is a little pricey. We later found Sam's Deli has a decent selection of reasonably priced meats, vegetables and pre-made salads if you plan to eat at home a couple of nights. Liquor store is attached. It's just a few minutes drive from the cottage. Sam's is a GREAT place for sandwiches too! Call in your order ahead of time because it gets very busy!
Bring a steamer pot if you plan to cook lobster at the cottage. We got our fish, clams and lobster from Mac's Seafood Market three or four times, and it was incredibly fresh and delicious. We also ate at Mac's Shack in Wellfleet for lunch and dinner during our visit- Best place to eat! Creative dishes, great waitstaff and good drinks.
We are already counting down the days until our vacation next year to a place that is a little piece of heaven on the Cape!
We stayed at The Feathered Nest for a wonderful week in early September. The weather was perfect, even hot, and the crowds had gone home. The cottage is super cute after the recent renovations. It was just as it looks in the photos. It was very clean and in perfect condition.
We loved the care and attention to detail Reenie and Bob showed in renovating this gem of a cottage. They had thought of everything you made need for a relaxing and comfortable vacation in Cape Cod.
The kitchen is well equipped and the cottage layout is very functional for 2 or 4 people. The WiFi is really good - very fast. There is new air-conditioning which we actually needed one night. The cable TV (Comcast), with 2 flat screen TVs, is a bonus. Everything worked perfectly. There is also a gas fireplace but we didn't get to try it out.
We particularly enjoyed the lovely outdoor areas for sitting and relaxing. Some of our favorite photographs were taken in the garden and surrounds - it is quintessential Cape Code. The outdoor shower and grill were a big plus.
The cottage is extremely comfortable and we were always happy to come back to it each day. Eastham is a good central location if, like us, you want to explore the whole of Cape Cod.
We will certainly recommend this cottage to our friends.
