About Anne JAMES

When this hôtel was transformed into privately owned flats, we immediately bought this studio. Other members of our family did the same, downstairs, and upstairs. Hence it became our summer family "place".

Our children played till sundown on the little beach under the windows, some childhood friends followed their parents in the family business, restaurants and bars, and since we enjoyed our holidays there, all together.

Now that the children have grown, and flown away, (one day, they'll come back with their own family), we have decided to share this pleasurable place with visitors.

Just enjoying the sunsets, right on front of the windows, is really unforgettable !

Anne JAMES purchased this studio in 1976

Why Anne JAMES chose Quimper area

We all originate from Loctudy and Quimper. (But our children think themselves as from L'Ile-Tudy, having so many fond memories).

Before, our grand-parents had a rather too large family villa on the sea front, but as time went by, our generation preferred to each have our own smaller place.

And you will understand straight away, why we chose the old Hotel-Tudy.

What makes this studio unique

L'Ile-Tudy is a small harbour, where children can run around, the sea never dangerous, the beaches clean and safe.

And nowadays as it is "no cars allowed" in the old part, it is even friendlier.

It has become a trendy place, where having a drink / eat on the harbour, while enjoying the scenery, after the day on the beach, attracts lots of visitors.

Evenings on the harbour, are really something you will never forget.

But so small is the village, only a few can actually stay here, "privileged only".

Car: recommended

L'ILE-TUDY is an old fishing harbour, originally set on an island, now a peninsula. Which attracts people looking for authenticity, as it has kept the "cachet" of old times, with a unique setting. Small streets, old typical fishing houses, water all around, boats moored in the river behind.

As the old part of the village is a "no car" zone during holidays, the beaches area, and the harbour and quay offer a large choice of restaurants and bars, enabling us to enjoy the setting, and the view, while sipping a nice chilled glass sitting under a parasol.

Obviously, for water sports, just pick your choice.

On Saturday evenings, various festivals are organised, like old boats and shanty songs, or Celtic music, Jazz cessions, and so on...

One of l'Ile-Tudy's asset, is being close to most of the places of interest in Finistère, rarely more than 20mn drive, one hour at the most.

Such as

A day across to the closest Island Les Moutons & Les Glénans, from Loctudy or Benodét

or, PONT L'ABBé, capital of the Bigouden, crêpes, embroideries,

LOCTUDY, famous for its Langoustines. (You can go there from Ile-Tudy, with the foot ferry crossing every 15mn).

LE GUILVINEC, one must go and see the arrival of the fishing fleet as well as the Haliotika sea museum,

LA TORCHE with it's world famous surfing spot, and it's long beach in the AUDIERNE Bay.

QUIMPER, it's museums, must see Medieval City Centre, market...

ST MARINE beautiful small harbour where the Odet River flowing from Quimper meets the sea,

BENODET, just opposite, with it's Golf, it's beautiful water front , Cinéma & Casino.

Further south, a good 35mn drive, you can go visit FOUESNANT, BEG-MEIL, or the famous painter's village of PONT AVEN.

Going north, stop in LOCRONAN the village that was kept as in the middle age,

La POINTE DU RAZ, end of the world rocky peninsula

DOUARNENEZ famous for its sea life, boats, bars, and all that goes with it, and it's incredible cake : the Kuign Aman ! (forget your diet).

BREST (Océanopolis sea museum, unforgettable)

or take the ferry for one the island, as MOLENE, OUESSANT, or L'ILE DE SEIN (next stop, New York).

Loads of beautiful chapels, old buildings, museums...all along the way. Check with the local Tourist Information Office !

No need adding, that in all of these places, you will easily find some very good restaurants. Or just a snack with a crêpe, (local pancake) for the small hunger.
