Good location but accommodations need help

  • 2 of 5

Doesn't sleep 8. Two "beds" were just folding cots. maintenance items needing attention: The blinds in the kitchen, living room and on the sliding glass door were all broken when we checked in. There is standing dirty water in the dishwasher and there is no handle on the refrigerator door. The drain in master bathroom was slow, probably because there is no drain cover. The knob to turn on the shower is missing.

Some things missing from the apartment are:

Trash bags

Kitchen towels

Hand towels for bathrooms

Bath wash cloths

Drinking glasses in kitchen (only wine glasses were in the cabinet)

And most importantly there is no proper mattress in the bedroom at the top of the stairs (white trundle bed). There was only a flimsy foam pad! Very uncomfortable to sleep on.

The apartment could use a good deep cleaning. The bath tub & shower grout is full of mold & mildew as were the shower curtain liner.I know the list is long but I felt you should know. I

Great apartment in a great location!

  • 5 of 5

We were here for 2 nights. Didn't get to explore around town much this trip, but everything was very nearby. Could've walked everywhere. The only issue we had was finding a place to park nearby, but that had nothing to do with us enjoying our stay!

Shabby place in great location

  • 3 of 5

The listing for this poorly maintained apartment is misleading in terms of the description of the property and the amenities. The description said it is renovated -- well, maybe in in the 1970s but certainly not in a recent decade. There was no heat in the bathrooms, and the master bedroom only received the faintest amount of heat from the living room - a real issue in the winter. (The manager offered to supply us with a space heater but it never arrived.) There were numerous signs of neglect: The handle on the refrigerator door was missing. A bathroom door was rotten and it's latch wouldn't close. Tiles were loose in the bathroom floor. The carpet was dirty, old and ragged. Light bulbs were out and there were no replacements. The towels were not what I would call "hotel quality" as they were described and there were no wash clothes. The laundry room in the hallway between this apartment and the next was so cluttered with shoes, bags of laundry and other stuff that we had to move everything around to use the machines; then the dryer left lent all over our clothes because the filter had broken in half and just been stuffed back in (rather than replaced). There were other signs of disrepair that would only take a handyman an hour to fix if anyone cared to arrange it. The mattresses are extremely hard foam and all 6 of us had backaches in the morning. That said, the location is fabulous for South Philadelphia. There were ample plates, glasses etc in the kitchen. Except for the carpet, which needed a deep steam clean if not replacement, the apartment was clean and tidy. All in all, if the place were better cared for, if the amenities improved and the heating system were upgraded it would be a nice option for staying in South Philly. Until then, I don't recommend it.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback and we apologize for any inconveniences. This stay does not seem to be the typical experience for our guests. We encourage our future guests to view the pictures and read the other reviews to get an idea for the apartment's value, location, size, and quality. The minor repairs mentioned were taken care of immediately the following day and we encourage our future guests to inform us immediately of any concerns so that we can respond to them more promptly. We can usually take care of issues the same day (especially minor things like lightbulbs, minor damages, etc.). Unfortunately, we were not made aware of any issues until the final day of this reservation.

Great location! Great 3 BR 2 Bath apartment!

  • 5 of 5

You cannot find a better location to rent in Philly - a quiet, tree-lined street in the historic district - a few easy blocks to jim's steaks on south and a few more to the liberty bell/constitution plaza/reading terminal market/convention center. We did a great 6 mile loop our first day up to the Philadelphia museum of art via walnut and chestnut and back down arch for lunch at reading terminal. We had 3 couples stay - each in our own rooms with king memory foam mattresses, cooked breakfast in and walked to great restaurants for dinner. HIghly recommend!! - Rich was quick to respond to any questions. The pictures show this apartment is older, but kept up nicely with great charm. With 3 couples sharing the cost, we got so much more out of staying here than we would in 3 hotel rooms - Loved our stay and would definitely come back! and BTW - the Philly marathon is awesome - great fans, well-organized, a very good time!

Cute cottage along a creek that was great for the kids

  • 5 of 5

Great for two families with kids as there were two king beds and a bunk area that worked well for everyone! Leslie was a great host and answered all of our questions quickly.
