Enjoyed our stay

This condo checks a lot the boxes: clean, comfortable bed, nice kitchen, good location, pool & hot tub, near the ocean. The owner Gabriele provided great communication and it was a breeze booking directly with her, which I highly recommend. Why pay VRBO (Expedia) an additional fee? (VRBO owners already pay Expedia a hefty fee to list their vacation rentals, why throw more money their way? Keep it in your pocket.) If you a looking for a quiet location, with a great view & lanai, you will need to pay much more. If you are on a budget this a very good value for the money. We come to Kona often, and will be staying here again.

Nice property, great location

My wife and I stayed here for a few nights. The unit was well maintained, clean, and the location was fantastic. Far enough away from the main drag to avoid traffic, but close enough that the drive was easy. Right across the street from Da Poke Shack which was delicious. Lots of beach equipment. Easy parking and access. Highly recommended.

My friend and I stayed at this condo for 11 days and it was perfect. The location near the beach was great. The owner was friendly and flexible to our needs. We're already planning another trip there!

I had to make a last minute trip to Kona. Finding this condo was a save. It is conveniently located and had everything you need.

Gabriele was very helpful and easy to reach for all my questions. Right from the start the owner of this condo was great to deal with; she is very courteous in her interactions. Even with short notice of renting this unit everything went smoothly and prior to my arrival I was sent everything I needed to check into the condo. There were no issues at all.

I would definitely recommend staying here.

Homecoming 2017

So excited to have booked this wonderful condo for next winter after missing this past season. My month stay in 2015 was amazing relative to both the accommodations and Gabriele's hospitality. The unit was as depicted and Gabriele went above and beyond to ensure a fantastic vacation experience. Can't wait!!

A nightmare landlord, avoid at all costs

I wish I paid attention to the other one star review. The unit is fine. However, the landlord is dishonest and the embodiment of your worst HomeAway nightmare. There is nothing about this property that should tempt you to risk dealing with her.

First, when my second payment was due, the landlord called me after 11 pm. She complained to me about the cut HomeAway would take from the rental, stating HomeAway's fees were too high. She floated that I cancel the reservation, cut HomeAway out of the transaction and pay her directly by check, which she said would be cheaper for both of us. I declined her dishonest proposal.

Second, when we checked in, the worn vertical blinds to the sliding door were broken. The apparatus to move the blinds was taped together. One blind panel was on the floor. The clip for that panel was broken. Somebody punctured the panel below the broken clip so that in theory the panel could be hung up. The blinds did not open and close easily. Put frankly, the blinds were junk.

We decided to live with the blinds and enjoy our vacation. After we checked out I received notice that my entire deposit was being withheld because the blinds needed replacement (as well as a wood dolphin my kids broke that is generously worth $20 and which I told the landlord I had no problem replacing). The landlord said my family had broken the panel to the blinds (the one that was on the floor broken when we walked in) and that we were responsible for the blinds not being able to open and close easily, which is untrue. In subsequent interactions, she accused us of trying to repair the blinds with glue, which is absurd. In sum, we have been accused of breaking something that was broken when we arrived and that was also worn and haphazardly taped together.

We are out $200. The landlord says we should have contacted her about the condition of the blinds instead of trying to “repair” them, which is silly because we never tried to repair anything. The landlord effectively conceded that the panel was broken when we arrived (despite initially accusing us of breaking it) and that the blinds were taped together. Yet she insists on taking our money.

It does not feel good to be falsely accused and stolen from. I’ve reported the incidents to HomeAway. I hope they remove her from the site so there are not other victims. But I’m writing this review just in case they allow her to stay on. Buyer beware.

Owner's Response: Disrespectful Guest It is really sad that this guest went to such lengths to discredit and dispute a simple accident. I provided a clean unit with everything in proper working condition. After his departure I found broken decorations and the blinds were damaged. Instead of notifying me of the mishap he denied damaging the blinds and claimed he was going to replace the wooden dolphin after his return home. I'm renting this condo for 4 years now and this is the first and only time I withheld the damage deposit from a guest. Aloha Gabriele
