Wittman Estate Rental Photos and Description

Secluded waterfront vacation rental outside of St. Michaels.

A charming historic farmhouse and updated barn with a rustic soul and luxury finishes are the perfect spot for your vacation on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay.

Surrounded by water and farmland, Jane Lowe estate is a very private property that will comfortably sleep 12+ guests. The 3,500-square-foot barn and 2,100-square-foot historic farmhouse are situated on a six-acre stretch on the banks of Harris Creek, nestled between St. Michaels and Tilghman Island.

Discover the serenity of the Chesapeake Bay, watching blue herons, bald eagles and osprey from your front window. Lounge by the 50-ft swimming pool (open until the end of September), fish, crab or sun from the floating dock, kayak, play lawn games and watch the sun set from a private beach.

The houses have everything you need: areas to lounge, nooks to read, a massive game room with a pool table, foosball table, poker table, bar, other casino games and board games. It's easy to eat, drink and entertain with the help of a professional wolf stove and flattop, barbecues, patios, balconies and a sun room.

If you venture out, lovely St. Michaels and the surrounding areas have so much to explore.

The property was beautiful and secluded (quiet)

  • 4 of 5

The description of the property was very accurate. It would have been helpful to have floor plans of the two homes for planning purposes (who sleeps where). The location was very quiet and restful. The pool was the best pool we have ever had (from the kids).

A very welcome and immensely enjoyable welcome basket was waiting when we arrived.

There were some areas that I would be working on as the owners from a maintenance standpoint, But i do realize there is little time when the property is in use for maintenance to occur.

The few minor problems be had were quickly addressed with profuse apologies from the owners.

We took a cruise on the Patriot and heard about the history and culture of the area - very enjoyable and entertaining.

We bought Crabs at Chesapeake Landing - very delicious, and ate crab and other sea food at The Crab Claw, also delicious and slightly pricey. We were able to catch a few crabs off the dock, some of which we could have cooked and eaten, but we just released them. The four kayaks that are on the property were in use many hours.

All in all we would recommend as well as consider returning to the property another time.

Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Fantastic Sunsets & Great Spaces & Cooking

  • 5 of 5

A wonderful place to celebrate Thanksgiving with friends and family. We rented both homes and had the luxury of two kitchens to cook in to make a feast for the Thanksgiving meal. Fireplaces add warmth and charm in both houses. The group followed the amazing light that hits the property -- breakfast and lunch in the converted barn and dinner in the farmhouse to view the amazing sunsets. Unexpected warm weather allowed for long walks and kayaking. Highly recommend the property for larger groups -- enough room to have spaces to socialize in, but also small spaces to read a book in quiet. All in all a terrific place to decompress and enjoy friends and family.

Easily the best home I've ever rented anywhere

  • 5 of 5

This place is absolutely spectacular. The pool is great, both homes are really nice + historic, and it feels very private.

We had an AMAZING time and hope to be able to rent from Heather again.

Perfect location for a family reunion

  • 5 of 5

We have a large family and everyone was in town for a wedding so we decided to have a post-wedding family reunion. This was the perfect setting for everyone from a 5-month-old to a 100-year-old. There are just enough recreational activities so that we never had to leave the house. Plus the back patio area on the farmhouse was perfect for a crab feast.

The owners were very attentive and helpful throughout the booking process and during our stay. Heather even sent me layouts of the houses so that we could work on room assignments before we got there.

All in all, a great property that far exceeded my expectations and was perfect to fit a large group with lots of different interests.

A couple of tips:

Bring bug spray

Buy your groceries at St. Michaels or another town on the way because once you get there, you don't really want to make the trek back for groceries.

Bring some chicken necks or fish heads or bait. They provide a trap right by the dock.

They even have water toys for the pool!

Perfect Oasis for Family Vacay

  • 5 of 5

You know it's a great week of vacation when no one wants to leave on Saturday! The Chesapeake Bay was a new location for our family as we were trying to find a middle point between family in Boston and SC. This almost tops our vacation last summer in the Cape...the property and amenities were by far better! Heather and Ryan (brother and sister) are incredibly hospitable and were always available to answer questions pre-arrival and during our stay. Pictures nor words can describe how amazing this property was! You have privacy but also feel safe knowing there are other (friendly) homeowners within a 1/2 mile. The property was actually BETTER than described on Homeaway, which rarely happens! You have 2 houses, newly remodeled/renovated, sitting within 50 yards of each other, that comfortably housed all 20 of us (10 adults and 10 kids), which was a top priority for our family. The "farmhouse," older yet very quaint with lots of character, has 3 bedrooms up stairs, 2 baths upstairs, 1 bath downstairs off the porch, a full kitchen, study room, and living room. Outside of this house is the pool (with a diving board) which is great for a big family...lots of chairs! The "barn" is newly remodeled with a kitchen, large living room, dining room, 2 bedrooms, and a bath downstairs. The 2nd floor has a HUGE game room, huge bedroom, and bath. The 3rd floor has a large loft bedroom...this is where 5 of the girls stayed and loved it! Both houses had a washer and a dryer, wifi, and several TVs. Everything was super clean and very well-maintained...I think we were even the first renters! We spent lots of time enjoying the Chesapeake Bay in the 2 kayaks and canoe, even fishing and crabbing! We spent our evenings watching the picturesque sunset, riding around looking at all the deer, and roasting marshmallows (for s'mores) and hotdogs by the firepit! There is so much exploring to do around the property...we found several mulberry trees and made the best mulberry cobbler ever:) If you are getting stir-crazy, Annapolis is only an hour away, and you can easily spend a day there; DC is 2 hours; and the quaint little town of St. Michaels is only 10 minutes away. There you will find a grocery store, cute local shops, great seafood, and great ice cream from Justine's! If you are looking for a place to stay in the Bay for a large family or even a friends reunion, I HIGHLY recommend this property! It is 100% worth it! We will definitely be going back!
