Rustic and Secluded Home in the Country, 3 Bedrooms and 2 Full Baths
White Oak Inn is a rustic retreat, in the heartland of Missouri.
We hope you will enjoy and respect this home that our father built. This house has a great room to gather and fellowship. You can relax in one of the 3 large bedrooms. One bedroom has a Queen bed with a private bathroom. The other 2 bedrooms share a hall bathroom. One of these bedrooms has a king bed and the other has a queen bed. There is also a sleeper sofa in the great room for additional guests. There are also 2 large porches to enjoy, one on the back of the house and one on the front. The home is situated in a meadow with plenty of wooded acres to enjoy hiking and bird watching. We hope you can enjoy and reflect on the blessings of this life.
There is a large front yard with a volleyball net. Croquet and balls and bats are in the big chest on the front porch.
There is a complete kitchen with a crockpot, toaster, and coffee maker.
Grilling is available on the gas grill or the open pit for hot dogs and marshmallows.
There is an extensive library of books available and movies. Wi-Fi was just added so the WORLD is available to you in this remote spot. Window air conditioners are in the bedrooms so you can sleep very comfortably even in the hottest Missouri nights.
Note about the review about the tripped electrical system. That problem has totally been resolved. The window air conditioner was pulling too heavy a load. We very much wish the visitor would have called us and it would have been resolved during their stay.

It is off the beaten path and extremely beautiful. About an hour South of St. Louis. They were extremely helpful, and even had a guide book at the house to make local things easy to find. Couldn't have asked for a better experience.
Thank you! We enjoyed sharing our home with you.
Perfect in every way
Excellent. Beautiful property in idyllic setting with the kindest of owners. This has to be the best property we have ever stayed in. It was everything we could have wished for. A country house with a real country feel, well equipped, clean and tasteful. The surrounding countryside is also beautiful, but had close links for highways, so easy to get around. The owners were kindness itself. We arrived in the middle of the night and got completely lost. Ended up calling them at about 1.00am. They came out immediately, no complaints, just extremely helpful. They kept in contact by text message over our stay to check that we had everything we needed, but never encroached on our privacy. My advice to them would be to change their photographs as the current ones do not do them justice. We would definitely recommend this property - and the owners. If we go back to the area we will be booking at the same place. Hazel, Ann, Mary, thank you for all your kindness.
Wonderful place to stay!
We loved it! It was a very nice, quiet place to stay. It had everything we needed and more. It is a very scenic drive to get there which we all enjoyed very much. The house is quaint and comfortable. We enjoyed walking the property and seeing the wildlife. It was a great place to get away for the week. We can't wait to do it again next year!
Just What We Needed!
Our family enjoyed our stay. We were able to kick back a relax in a beautiful rural setting but were close enough to Farmington to enjoy "city" things like Lix. We arrived after dark. Carla had arranged to have the A/C and lights on for us before our arrival, which we appreciated very much. Our mission for this vacation was to "disconnect" from our daily routines and enjoy time together. This home and the owners met this need.
The large living room is great for relaxing and fellowship. So happy you were able to enjoy this as well as the beautiful country side.
Secluded and pretty area however every time we used anything in kitchen it tripped a breaker
Pretty area and we had fun as a family. Bed was comfy. There was absolutely nothing provided not even salt and pepper. The tv continually skipped. We will find a different place next time.
We are thankful you had fun and the beds were comfy. We will take your suggestion of providing salt & pepper and add it to what we do provide such as utensils, cookware and all sorts of paper products. We also provide emergency phone numbers and the issue has been resolved.
Huge yard with a volleyball/badminton net. We have a croquet set on the front porch and balls and bats in the big chest for your use. Great spot for outdoor grilling on the gas grill or hot dogs and marshmallows in the open pit. 100 acres of woods to explore to gather your own wood. The trees are beautiful and you probably will see some wildlife - deer have been in the yard at times, wild turkey, hawks, possum, and raccoons. At night you will hear very distinct "whipperwhills" - Bob whites calling. The stars will blow you away with their beauty. There is very little light pollution at our home. Lots of fireflies in the yard during the summer. The back porch is ideal for reading and resting. There are no other houses or roads. The log home is on its own lane with a gate near the end that you can open or keep closed as you prefer. After much discussion Wi-fi was added on site just today (April 5, 2018) It extends into the parking area from Hughs net. We kind of liked the fact that people had to try to live without it for a few days and see how peaceful life could/should be but everyone kept requesting it! Urggg. There is a large screen TV and CD movies if you prefer the "old" way to do things:) St. Francois State Park is 10 minutes up the road toward Bonne Terre - great hiking BONNE TERRE MINES are a MUST see - you will not regret going down into this HUGE mine. You will see the largest underground lake in the world that attracts scuba divers from around the world. The water is crystal clear. Tours are daily and they take at least an hour. CRITTER LANE PETTING ZOO is 5 minutes away on the other side of Oak Hill Chapel. They have an amazing collection of animals that your whole family will enjoy. Oak Hill Chapel is a beautiful country church built by our father on Hwy Y. Tours can be scheduled. If you want to host a larger gathering of family and friends, the chapel can be rented for an additional fee. It can seat up to 200. Tables can be set up for about 75 people to eat. with in 20 miles you can visit several interesting locations: Bonne Terre Mines/Scuba Diving Lead Belt Museum The Terrace Winery at French Village St. Genevieve Historical Sites- Historical Ste. Genevieve, the oldest town west of the Mississippi, ferry boat across the Mississippi, and fort ruins Fort Davidson – Pilot Knob Oak Hill Chapel - Creation Conferences St. Anne's Catholic Church Mastodon State Park Canoeing on the Big River Mineral Area College Otte Angus Farm 55 minute drive or more… St. Louis Zoo Arch Six Flags St. Louis Science Center City Museum Missouri History Museum St. Louis Art Museum Old Courthouse - Excellent Dred Scott case historical site People have stayed at our home who drove back and forth to St. Louis every day. It is a scenic drive and great roads with fast speed limits. Festus to the North or Farmington to the south are each only 25 minutes away with lots of restaurants and nice theaters. Bonne Terre hosts a great bowling alley our family has used for get togethers and good restaurants. A good place to eat is the The Benham Street Grille, 803 Benham Street, Bonne Terre. Both of these towns have Walmarts and nice grocery stores so you can stock up for the week and enjoy a real retreat. There is a full size oven, crockpot, microwave, and refrigerator. Porter Foods is 1 minute from the house and if you want to stock up they can get you some excellent meals.
