Location, location, location. The Moose River Lodge has it in spades. This charming log home is located in Rockwood (The heart of Moosehead Lake) on the Moose River just upstream from the confluence with Moosehead Lake. Bring your boat and tie it up to your own sheltered dock when you are not out exploring or fishing this great area. You will find the large porch and the fire pit makes a great location to gather in the evenings while listening to the loons or to have your coffee in the morning. In the winter the Snowmobile trail system is a short ride away, no trailering needed to get your day started!! We are a short 30 minute drive to the two metropolises of Greenville and Jackman where fine dining and shopping can be found.
Inside the Moose River Lodge you’ll find a large great room with seating for everyone as well as the two bedrooms and a full bath on the main floor and the large loft upstairs. There is plenty of room for everyone to spread-out and truly relax and enjoy the slower pace that we all crave. The first bedroom has a queen bed, the second bedroom has two twin beds and the loft has a queen and two twins. All bath and kitchen linens are provided.
Take advantage of the Moose River Lodge and use it to explore the mighty Maine Northwoods and all that Mother Nature has to offer!!
This is a fantastic lodge at the mouth of the Moose River in Rockwood Maine. We have a dock and 4 Kayaks 2 Mountain Bikes and a canoe to use all new as of 2016. We also have fantastic access to the snowmobile trail systems. High Speed WiFi and Cable TV is included in your stay.
A fantastic log cabin nestled in the trees on Moose River with a great view of Mt. Kino from the dock. The cabin was very clean, roomy and well maintained. The management team was always helpful if we had any questions and was very informative with the area attractions.
The property has that great county feeling to it for those who want to get away from the hectic lifestyle of modern life.
If you need it, the TV, Cable and WiFi as well as all the other amenities’ in the cabin worked great the whole time we were there.
Our family enjoyed the huge back porch that faces the river during the morning and evening hours. As a matter of fact, it was great anytime during the day.
We didn’t use the bikes but they looked new and in great working order. The kitchen was well equipped for making meals for a couple or larger group.
Behind the house there is an awesome rock fire pit with benches around it. The best feature of this fire pit was the convenience of not having to go to the store and buy firewood. This cabin comes with a well-stocked wood shed. All you have to do is fill the wheelbarrow with wood and take it to the pit and lite it. That's it!
With the dock on the river it made it nice to have our boat close so all we had to do was walk down the steps to the dock and motor off to the lake. No driving to a marina to take the boat out.
If you like to see nature this is the place. During our stay we saw moose, lots of deer, loons, ospreys, ducks and much more. If you’re a wildlife photographer or someone who wants to try to photograph the wildlife, you will encounter many opportunities in this area of the lake.
Another nice thing about the Rockwood and Greenville area was the friendliness of the local people. They were always willing to provide information on what to see, where to go and not go in the area. This is very helpful if you're new to this area of Maine.
This property would be ideal for a hunting/fishing/vacation lodge trip. I highly recommend this property and the management team for your next trip.
If you’re anything like our group, you won’t want your vacation at this cabin to end.
We had a very nice week at this cabin. It's technically on a river, but it feeds right into the lake. The swimming was fantastic right off the dock, especially for young children, although I would recommend a ladder. It was difficult for them to pull themselves up onto the dock. The fishing was also great, our kids caught several salmon which was very exciting for them. We also enjoyed kayaking on the lake and even rented a speedboat for the day to explore the lake further. It was our first time staying at Moosehead Lake and we really enjoyed the area. The cabin itself was very clean with a traditional hunting decor theme, and our kids loved sleeping in the large open loft. They also really enjoyed the campfire pit in the back yard. Everyone who we dealt with relating to the cabin, from the realtor to the neighbors, were very friendly, helpful and welcoming. The cabin is perfect for a guys' hunting and fishing retreat as it is now, but I would recommend adding a few things to improve it for families. A washer and dryer would make a huge difference. Not being able to do laundry the whole week with a family of 7 is challenging. There also weren't any boardgames, just a few puzzles in the closet, and there were no local maps or info on family hikes. All in all, we really enjoyed our week and we were happy with the house, and the biggest bonus of all is that we were able to bring our dog with us! If a washer and dryer, some board games and a kayak, were added, I would definitely upgrade house to five stars. Also- for any families who do rent this cabin- we recommend Lily State Park in Greenville for easy beautiful hiking with small children. The Rod -n- Reel cafe in Greenville was also pretty good for a simple dinner out with the family.
