Hico Cabin Rental Photos and Description

One-Room Cabin with kitchen, living and sleeping areas. 1 full bath/shower stall

Conveniently located near popular area attractions and outdoor activities, Fern Creek Cabins offer year round, affordable vacation lodging in the beautiful mountains of southern West Virginia. Our cabins sit on 40 private acres of pristine hemlock forrest near the north rim of the New River Gorge National River..

For those who just want to relax, Fern Creek Cabins offers plenty of space to roam about the property. Our cabins have comfortable porches equipped with grills and hot tubs, outdoor fire pits, and lots of beautiful yard space for throwing horseshoes or playing softball.

We welcome well behaved pet.

We ask our guests to not smoke in our cabins.

While our 2 cabin's share the peaceful seclusion of the Appalachians, it is but a few short miles over New River Gorge Bridge to downtown Fayetteville, named 'Coolest Small Town in America.' Come visit, and take a walk around. You’ll find a vibrant shopping district and fantastic restaurants, windows to browse with lots to buy, and a lovely town park.

'Endless Wall Trail' lies a mile around the corner which tours one of the wonders of the New River Gorge -- the unbroken cliffline known as the Endless Wall, which follows the rim of the gorge and offers access to dozens of bolted climbing routes. Breathtaking panoramas await hikers as the trail leads along the top of the cliffs through gnarled pines, mossy boulders, and rhododendron thickets.

Sorry it took so long but I would like to let you know how much Judy and I enjoyed our stay. It was actually the first "real" vacation I have taken since joining the Army in 1979. The location provided me peace and relaxation I forgot was possible. Depending on schedule and life's events, we plan to come stay there again some time.

Marion, your grounds keeper, was more than helpful. She worked to maintain the grounds like it was her own. Its hard these days to get good help that you don't have to watch out for or supervise all the time. She was "johnnie on the spot" everyday weedeating, mowing and making sure whatever we needed was taken care of. It was a most excellent vacation and adventure.

Again, had a fantastic, relaxing and rejuevenationg time. I hope to be able to use your cabins again in the future.

Thanks ever so much!

Thank you for the hiking recommendations. The Fern Creek Point Lookout was close and easy for a wonderful view of the gorge. The cabin was perfect for the two of us. Thank you!

Fern Creek is a quiet oasis. It has all the amenities plus!

I appreciate the remote feel of the property. Even when the adjoining cabin is occupied, this little cottage feels totally private and spacious.

Perfect Place to relax after a Day of Adventures!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I rented Fern Creek Cabins for the weekend of June 10th -13th to celebrate his Birthday with some adventures. From day one of inquiring about the rental, Tom and Janet were great. Very responsive to emails about availability and extremely flexible with our check in and check out times!

We arrived to the most quaint little cabin lit with romantic string lights above the ceiling. The cabin was clean and within an hour or so of having the AC on the cabin was a nice cool temperature.

We planned many adventures for the weekend including Hiking, Rafting, and Zip Lining. After a long day of hiking and rafting the cabin was the perfect place to come back to. We relaxed in the hot tub and enjoyed the peacefulness the area provided. The cabin is tucked back into the woods in a large clearing and at night you could see millions of stars and the fireflies lighting up the trees like Christmas lights, it was truly a magical sight. There is no cable at the cabin, however there is a DVD player and the cell reception is great so we rented a few red box movies and listened to "I heart radio" in the evenings to relax.

Although we didn't use the firepit, it had plenty of seating and room for a large number of people. My husband and I are already talking about bringing a bigger group back and renting both Fern Creek Cabins to enjoy the large yard and country setting!

The cabin is only about a 10 minute drive to anywhere you would need to go from Walmart to hiking trails. We hiked the Long Point trail and Kaymore Miners Trail and we ate at Pies & Pints and Smokey's On the Gorge. It really was a great location! Everything was in working condition, clean and comfortable and we can't wait to plan our next trip back with a larger group of friends or family.

100% perfect

  • 5 of 5

We cannot say enough good things about this cabin. Everything was perfect: the location, the layout, the amenities. We thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub, and the bed was very comfortable. We highly recommend this rental, and we plan on staying there again. On a scale of 1 to 10, it is an 11.

Secluded, quiet , quaint cabin.

  • 5 of 5

Cabin was very clean. Hot tub was very enjoyable. Nicely decorated. Only thing I would update is the ceiling perhaps some type of wood panels. It is very, very secluded. Road to cabin is a little rough. If you have a choice I would take a 4×4 over a car. Area is typical river town with outdoor activities. The scenic overlook for the bridge was nice, got beautiful pictures.

Tried to go to Pints and Pies for dinner on a Saturday night but couldn't find a parking spot looked to be a hangout for a younger crowd. Went to Gumbos was good, good service.
