My name is Carolyn and I am managing this lovely home for my parents. I was born and raised in Leland, Michigan and lived in this house for nearly 10 years. I have spent several years traveling abroad, I have lived in Ann Arbor, Los Angeles and now, Austin...and I am speaking honestly when I say that Leland is still my favorite place to vacation!
My husband and I are both architects. We enjoy the outdoors, wine and FOOD.
My parents, the owners of this wonderful apartment, are both in the restaurant business.
My father was raised in Leland and descends from a long line of Leland locals. My mother, a native Michigander, spent much of her youth in the Leland area where she eventually settled down with dad. Their dedication to the County and Leland life runs deep. We're all in love with the area!
The Owner purchased this apartment in 1989
After having lived in town for 18 years and now visited as a vacationer, I am convinced that the quality of life in Leland CANNOT be beat. Our sleepy little town will keep you active and outdoors spring - fall, and will give you necessary pause and repose in the winter (though don't be fooled - there's LOTS to see in do in the snow too!!!). Leland really has it all. I miss it terribly while I am away...always looking forward to the next visit.
This little apartment is the perfect place to stay for the family or couple looking to be in the heart of Leland activities! We lived in this house for many years while I was growing up. The location is so convenient for bicycling, popping down to Fishtown for a sandwich, walking over to the Yacht Club for sailing lessons or heading over to Van's beach for a swim. You'll enjoy wonderful views of the Leland River through old-growth maple trees and over a flowering front yard. Be sure to keep the windows open for the breeze off of Lake Michigan!
I certainly enjoyed my stay at your apartment in Leland. The 1906 house is up to date but full of vintage details and furniture. I especially appreciated the framed information in each room. I always know what I expect in lodging but, especially in a private home, I like to know what is expected of me. Every question I might have had was answered before I could ask.
The location is perfect if you enjoy exploring the town and walking to the beaches to search for Petoskey Stones and Leland Blues. And, of course, it's close to the Bluebird, my most favorite restaurant, where Bob, Cory, Forest & Zack make me feel like a local.
My only hope is that a 5 star review doesn't attract so many other potential renters that I will have trouble booking a stay next year.
Thank you Carolyn for all of your help. You've been a pleasure to work with.
Loved the location of this apartment. Could walk every where. The description is accurate. Plenty of storage. We were able to walk to Fishtown and across the street to The Bluebird. (Great Food) The view looking out to the river is beautiful. Kitchen is tiny but well stocked, worked out fine for our family of four. We arrived in Leland earlier than expected but Carolyn was nice enough to let us check in early. Would stay here again.
Our family loved the cozy, quaint apartment! The views of the river from nearly every room are fantastic. The front porch swing was one of our favorite spots when we weren't playing battleship or CLUE (the kids loved these games that were there for our enjoyment) or walking to one of many beaches and catching gorgeous sunsets. We hope this was the beginning of a new family tradition! Thank you!
Thank you, Carolyn, for prompt and thorough responses to my questions and concerns - both prior to our visit and over the weekend.
Walking around neighborhood, to Lake Leelanau and Lake Michigan and to town for coffee each morning made a wonderful vacation experience. The apartment was very charming - loved watching the boats come and go on the River. Nice breeze coming in open windows. Felt like "home away from home"
Casual dining on the Bluebird patio was delightful. We especially enjoyed Sunday Brunch on the patio at Riverside Inn.
We hope to return frequently; and, I definitely will recommend the apartment to family and friends.
This is an excellent value for the price, good for the apartment itself. It is up a steep flight of stairs, and the bathroom and kitchen are small. The location is perfect, just a block and a half from the main street. This is an excellent "home base" for vacationers who will be spending most of their time enjoying Leelanau County.
Just steps from amazing downtown Leland is this beautiful and quaint upper level apartment in an amazingly well preserved historic home. The location could not be more perfect with pretty views of the river and a short one block walk to stunning Lake Michigan sunsets. If you are foodies like we are just down the street from home is the iconic and not to be missed Blue Bird Restaurant with the worlds best and freshest whitefish and local charisma We spent a long weekend in this perfect spot and emailed the owner upon our return to book another get away. Enjoy!
Within steps of Fishtown and the Leland Harbor!
