Hico Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps up to 7)

Conveniently located near popular area attractions and outdoor activities, Fern Creek Cabins offer in-season, affordable vacation lodging in the beautiful mountains of southern West Virginia. Our two cabins sit on 40 private acres of pristine hemlock forrest near the north rim of the New River Gorge National River. Both cabins feature hot tub, outdoor fire-pit, gas grill, fully equipped kitchens.

For those who just want to relax, Fern Creek Cabins offers plenty of space to roam about the property. Our cabins have comfortable porches equipped with grills and hot tubs, outdoor fire pits, and lots of beautiful yard space for throwing horseshoes or playing softball.

We welcome well behaved pets.

We ask our guests to not smoke in our cabins.

While our 2 cabin's share the peaceful seclusion of the Appalachians, it is but a few short miles over New River Gorge Bridge to downtown Fayetteville, named 'Coolest Small Town in America.' Come visit and take a walk around. You’ll find a vibrant shopping district and fantastic restaurants, windows to browse with lots to buy, and a lovely town park.

'Endless Wall Trail' lies a mile around the corner which tours one of the wonders of the New River Gorge -- the unbroken cliffline known as the Endless Wall, which follows the rim of the gorge and offers access to dozens of bolted climbing routes. Breathtaking panoramas await hikers as the trail leads along the top of the cliffs through gnarled pines, mossy boulders, and rhododendron thickets.

About Tom & Janet Atack

Natives of southern New Jersey we vacationed and experienced our first rafting trip and were instantly in love with the beauty of West Virginia.

Tom & Janet Atack purchased this cabin in 2011

Why Tom & Janet Atack chose West Virginia

We have now owned Fern Creek Cabins for nearly 6 years. We have made many improvements, the latest a complete remodel of the 2 bdrm kitchen and living room. We've also replaced cabinets and counter tops in the one-room.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Janet and Tom,

We absolutely looooved staying at your cabin this past weekend. I will most certainly be coming again and also referring friends and family. The weather was perfect, the grounds are beautiful! We went ziplinning on Sat and had a blast! The cabin was perect; well equipped and so quaint! Thank u so much for allowing us to stay. We lost my grandmother last weekend so this allowed my parents and I a time to reflect on some amazing memories and also get some much needed R&R.

Quiet and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed the cabin for an anniversary getaway, as did our cats. The interior has been redone some since we visited last year (we miss the Welsh dresser) and seems more open. It's a great out of the way but not too out of the way place near the Gorge, with great stars in the sky and wildlife on the property. The jarring gravel road that you travel on for the last bit needs some work, though - it hasn't improved in the last year!

Wonderful cabin!

  • 5 of 5

This is a wonderful cabin located in a very peaceful and secluded area, but not too far to get to Fayetteville for awesome restaurants. Stayed here for 3 days/2 nights and we wished we could have stayed much longer. The cabin is very well maintained with a newly updated kitchen and living area. It is very clean and has every amenity that you could need. The property that it sits on is beautiful and serene as well. We sat outside on the porch swing and enjoyed relaxing. We were very happy staying here and have already discussed planning a return trip to the area and decided we would stay at this cabin every time we return. Thank you!!!

Absolutely Amazing!!!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was more than we expected and filled with all the amenities. It was comfortable, exceptionally clean and modernized complete with the best appliances and comfy beds. The location is secluded and private yet conveniently located within a short drive of an incredible array of trails, restaurants, outdoor adventure companies and breathtaking scenery. The hot tub was warm and inviting on the dark, country nights filled with stars. The air conditioners kept the house pleasant on the hot days and made sleeping peaceful throughout the night. The well-stocked movie library was a nice touch and we enjoyed watching movies together while winding down from our busy days in town. We will most certainly be back to make more family memories together!

Beautiful, secluded, peaceful piece of paradise

  • 5 of 5

We have been coming to the New River Gorge for years and years. This was our first stay in the Fern Creek Cabins. We will most definitely be staying in these cabins for our next visits. The cabin was clean and comfortable. The location is perfect - close enough to Fayetteville to be convenient, but far enough away to feel away from it all. We love it. Thank you.

This cabin made our trip! I have to admit, the farther we went down the road/drive way to the cabin, the more skeptical my kids, all in there 20s, became. But when they saw the secluded cabin, they changed their tune quickly. The cabin is just adorable and completely spotless. The kitchen is brand new and stocked with everything you might need. The hot tub was clean, and hot, and felt great after horse back riding earlier. Our favorite night of our trip was just hanging out at the cabin. There are porches on the front and back of the cabin, chairs around the fire pit, and a picnic table. We appreciated all the little extras; a table cloth for the picnic table, local pamphlets, a first aid kit, a hatchet and kindling for the fire, grill and grilling tools etc. Although it seems like the cabin is miles from everything, it's just north of Fayetteville. And on the road between Hwy 19 and the cabin, you pass trailhead parking areas for the Endless Wall Trail. It's an easy 2 1/2 mile trail with beautiful views of the New River Gorge. Just be aware there are no signs on the road to point out the parking areas, we drove by without seeing them, and had to turn around, but glad we did. We rafted with New and Gauley River Adventures, which you also pass on the way to the cabin. It was our second time rafting with them, and we had a good time. Already talking about returning during Gauley season and staying in the cabin again!
