Originally known as Indian Rocks South Shore, this quiet beach town is one of the oldest and smallest beach communities with the longest name. It was named Indian Rocks Beach, South Shore because the tiny community wanted a separate identity from the City of Indian Rocks Beach. The Town averages only a block in width between the Gulf of Mexico and by an area known as The Narrows.
It was originally an Indian campsite and got its name from the large red rocks found along its shoreline. Its first "settlers" were a pair of Robinson Crusoe-Type brothers named Cochran. In 1883 four Cedar Key speculators sailing to St. Petersburg, stopped to explore the Island. They were fascinated by the Island's possibilities for future development and bought it from the Cochran Brothers for a nominal sum. It is said the brothers bartered their Island "for little more than a string of beads and $25.00, figuratively speaking, like the Indians of Manhattan". The region soon became a popular residential and vacation area for many prominent Tampans such as the McKay family. (Tampa Tribune)
Until a wooden turn bridge was built in 1916, a ferryboat transported pedestrians to the Island, and a barge carried horses, buggies and a few automobiles to the summer resort. In 1905 the Railroad ran a spur line from the mainland to the beach and a hotel was built, adding to the Island's popularity. The railroad spur was abandoned later, but the community continued to grow especially during the Post-World War II building boom. Eventually in 1973 the name was officially changed to the more manageable Indian Shores. Presently the town's residential quality and its assortment of shops and restaurants help visitors feel right at home and is popular from snowbirds to seabirds. Favorite local spots are the eccentric Indian Shores Coffee Company and the popular Salt Rock Grill.

Hello, we are Jeff and Gina Paglialonga, owners of TeemingVR (Teeming Vacation Rentals). Our love for travel spans decades as does our romance (high school sweethearts, fellow UF graduates, married 30+ years with four children, traveled to 6 out of the 7 continents). Jeff also has owned an Allstate Insurance Agency since 1990, achieving the highest company award of Top in Country. We personally own 3 vacation rentals ourselves and manage over 225 properties, located in St Pete/Clearwater, St Augustine/Flagler and Panama City Beach. Pooling very different skill sets but very common passions, we make perfect partners. We are truly blessed, loving what we do and loving doing it together. We have built our home on faith, family, and fun; and strive to build this company on the same. We not only love to travel ourselves, but also love helping fellow travelers plan their ideal vacation. This was a perfect location for us to relax, enjoy the sun, walk the beach, listen to the waves, and watch the sunset. We loved being able to walk out of our condo in the morning with our morning coffee prepared in the small kitchen equipped with the basics. The amenities outside consisted of chairs, loungers, cushions, umbrellas, some games, a fire pit, and a grill which added to the ambiance of the condo. We could cook easy meals in the condo if we did not feel like leaving our beach hideaway but had restaurants nearby if we wanted to purchase takeout OR eat in the restaurant. Many were in walking distance. The only downside is that you cannot control who rents the condos next to or above you and how noisy they will be.
Recently renovated, its spotless, fresh and squeaky clean.Nice little place and everything is brand new.Outdoor landscaping is perfect, very beachy but not fussy.Free loungers, cushions, umbrellas, kayaks, beach bikes, and even free laundry machines, you're not going to get all that at this price anywhere else! We've stayed all up and down the gulf coast and this place and location, cannot be beat.Coming back next year, for sure.
This darling rental is right on the beach and the owners have thought of everything! The space is very clean, very well maintained and perfect for a romantic vacation. Beach chairs, umbrellas, and even toys are provided. There is a great patio with grills, tables, and a cooler, plus a fire pit with plenty of chairs for a group to enjoy an evening. The beach is not commercialized at all but there are little shops, restaurants and convenience stores nearby!
We spotted dolphins , manatees, blue and sand crabs, as well as stingrays along the shore. My husband also caught a few baby sharks from the shoreline.
This is a perfect place for a romantic getaway where you just want to chill together on the beach.
We've stayed in nearby resorts and would happily choose Bungalow Beach any day of the year! I can't wait to go back!!
This property is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the beach! It is very clean, fully stocked, has a fabulous outdoor area, and is just steps from the beach. My husband and I especially loved the outdoor space. There are plenty of outdoor tables with umbrellas, a grassy area, fire pit, and lounge chairs to take down to the beach. Another bonus of this condo is that it is not situated near larger condos so when you're on the beach you're not overly crowded by other families.... it's almost as if you have it all to yourself! There are also great restaurants within a mile or two. Our favorites were Crabby Bill's and Lulu's. Definitely recommend this condo!
Pros: Beautiful view, especially if the gulf and beach is your thing. Very clean. Place is nicely decorated and nice touches throughout property. Very comfy bed and pillows.
Cons: A bird flew into our wall by our door on the walkway the first day we got there and basically it's head got crushed on impact. I notified the management property contact at 6:34 pm about it and they told me that if the bird is still there in the morning, they will send someone out and that they couldn't send someone out right away (I was wondering if a headless bird would get up and fly away when they said this). We have a 6 month old and I had to lift his stroller each time over the bird. Not the most sanitary thing to occur and have to deal with as well. However, they didn't seem to eager to send anyone. So I picked the bird up the next morning and threw it out. Some guts remained, but I wasn't touching that. I'm on vacation. They really should have said we will have someone out there immediately to clean it. Also, we flew in the night before with our son and stayed elsewhere that night. We were told we could call the day of and get an early check in if the property was empty and clean. That was all we were told. Upon me calling at around 10am or so, I was then told about a $20.00 fee for early check in. Would have been nice if they told me before. It's not about the money, it's the nickel and dime crap that rubbed me the wrong way. I obliged and paid the $20 so we weren't waiting around with our son until 4pm. We got to the place and the code didn't work, so we were delayed another 15 minutes before we got in. I get that people have worse problems in the world, but we were coming down to the gulf for the 3rd straight year to relax and have a nice time, not to encounter petty annoying problems created by the property we were spending a good amount of money at. Also, I checked my bank balance the next day and we were charged $25 not $20. I told the person this and they pretty much said this "As far as the early check in, I am asking the person that charged you why this happened and I will let you know as soon as I get an answer. This simply must have been a miscommunication or user error. If that is the case then we will refund you the $5. The early check in is standard with our company and this is something that you agreed to. I am sorry that you are displeased with how this went down but I am actively working on a resolution for you".
I'm still waiting for the refund.
Best stay we have ever had in Florida. You can't beat the location and the unit was really nice! Stayed in Unit 1 which is right off the beach.
