Hi Folks, my wife and I are owners of the Alaskan Pacific Chalet, located in Sitka, Alaska. We love to travel, hike and explore.
Sitka is an incredible place to live with a wide variety of wildlife, including; eagles, Kayaking, hiking and exploring are all great opportunities for wildlife viewing here.
We love its incredible beauty, its peacefulness and the amazing wildlife viewing opportunity.
A group of about 10 women descended on Brian's place one cold, windy evening to celebrate our friend's birthday. What a cozy place!!! Brian even came in and started the wood stove for us. We enjoyed an awesome dinner, and a view out the window to die for!! Brian had lots of great music to entertain us with, along with a big hot tub that we all loved. The next morning as we sat down to another awesome meal, I commented that it would be the "ultimate time" if we were to see some whales. And as if on cue, 3 whales started jumping out of the water and slapping their tails! The backdrop to this was Bear Mountain covered in snow. Couldn't get much better.

If you're looking for a peaceful getaway, look no further. The house overlooks Silver Bay and surrounding mountains. The views of the bay were ever-changing as the clouds would roll in and out. One night we even had a pair of humpbacks swim slowly by. We spent each morning and evening watching the eagles. There's even a bald eagle nest right on the property. It is stunning.
Inside is comfortable and the hot tub was a treat after a long day of hiking. If you're planning to do a lot of cooking, there are limited pots/pans and BBQ heat is uneven. The fridge was obviously on its last leg (and very loud) but I'd assume that will soon be taken care of.
Loved the secluded location but it is a quick drive into town. We would recommend a stay without hesitation.
Great location in Sitka for those looking for peaceful moments to enjoy the natural beauty of Southeast Alaska. Can easily walk to nearby trails or just enjoy the views all around, but having a car is useful to visit town and obtain groceries.
A wonderful cabin and a wonderful stay! The home is constructed with lots of wood and huge beams and it's filled with Alaskan Art and it really has an Alaskan feel. We have stayed at the owners other cabin in Oregon and decided to give Alaska a try. Glad we did. It's VERY obvious the owner pays great attention to detail. The home and property sits overlooking the Ocean and Mountains and is very private as it is nestled nicely back in Ancient Forest. There are no homes or neighbors anywhere close, just Nature. Just wonderful and relaxing. We'll be back!!
I had some friends visiting from the lower 48 and wanted to show them the true beauty of Sitka. We stayed here two nights. I couldn't imagine a more perfect place to stay. We were blessed with sunny weather in the 50s. The only thing I would've changed about my personal experience here is to stay much, much longer.
Our family really enjoyed the lodge. It was in an excellent location on a hill. There were hiking trails very close. The lodge was spacious, comfortable, clean, decorated very nicely and kitchen was well stocked There were great views from every window of the water and every day we enjoyed watching two eagles sitting on a tree branch.
We definitely would return again.
What a lovely, relaxing weekend! The peace and quiet of the lodge and surrounding wooded landscape is exactly what you'd hope for in Alaska. During the day, the space is flooded with natural light from the giant windows and sliding doors. This is the perfect place to enjoy a cup of coffee as you look out the windows or a glass of wine from one of the relaxing hot tubs and watch for whales breaching or bald eagles soaring by.
Once the sun sets, the lodge feels extremely cozy and faraway from the world. We enjoyed watching a movie, opening a bottle of wine and making dinner at our own leisurely pace. The decor perfectly sets the tone for the setting. There are so many interesting and unique pieces that make the space feel that much more special. It is the perfect place to disconnect and truly feel separated from the outside world. Aside from the occasional car passing by, the only other visitor we had was a bald eagle, which was a welcome treat! Cell service can be spotty, but with the Wi-Fi it was not a problem. If anything, it was nice to be off the grid for a couple days.
The house is conveniently located 10 minutes away from downtown Sitka, so a car is needed; however, once you're inside you may not want to leave at all. For this busy New Yorker, Brian’s quaint and comfortable lodge was the perfect Alaska retreat!
