Welcome to Leaf and Needle!
This home has 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. The master bedroom has a California king bed; the second bedroom has two bunk beds (one with a trundle); and the third bedroom has a queen bed. It easily accommodates our family of 4 and my brother's family of 4 as we enjoy spending quality time together in the mountains. The living room hide-a-bed allows guests to spread out. We provide clean towels and clean sheets on all the beds, with additional linens in closets if needed.
Our kitchen is fully equipped with microwave, coffee maker, dishwasher, dishes, pots, pans, mini crock-pot and more. We host Thanksgiving dinner here for our family, and find that the kitchen bar makes serving easy and convenient.
The living room opens up to the kitchen, letting the food preparer be a part of the group social scene. Entertainment in the living room includes a 33 inch TV with Bluray/DVD player that streams Netflix. As we usually come to the mountains for a bit of escape, we do not have TV service. If you just want to curl up on the couch, the wood burning stove offers a cozy atmosphere.
If the weather is nice outside, a large picnic table on the deck in the backyard provides a convenient place to eat. A charcoal BBQ is on the deck for grilling summer fare.
Leaf and Needle is less than one mile from The Village and the lake. There are many restaurants and shops in The Village, as well as two movie theaters. Holloway's Marina at the lake offers fishing licenses and boat rentals. The trailhead to Pine Knot trail is a five minute walk from the house. Alpine Slide at Magic Mountain, with it's snow play /inner-tube slope, water slide, miniature golf and bobsled slide is less than a half a mile away.
Please call if you have more detailed questions about what is available at Leaf and Needle. We hope you will come stay and make wonderful memories.
Our family of four enjoys discovering new places, sharing our favorites, and playing games. The bobsled at the Alpine Sled is a definite new favorite!

Big Bear Lake is a 2 hour drive from our home and is beautiful all year. In the fall the leaves turn red and gold, in winter the snow brings snowball fights, sledding, skiing, and snowboarding. In the spring, the tulips and daffodils bloom and the trees begin to wake up. Summer completes the year as we hike, swim and continue to enjoy nature. With the convenience of restaurants, shopping, and movie theaters, Big Bear is an ideal vacation get away that isn't too far away.
We love to sit on the porch swing on our front deck and listen to the birds and the wind in the trees. When it is cold, there is nothing like cuddling up in front of the wood burning stove sipping hot chocolate.
We had a wonderful time!
The cabin was super clean and it had everything we needed.
We just love coming to visit this home in the forest. It has such a warm and welcoming feel and everything we need is provided. The beds are so comfortable and we love the front porch swing. The neighborhood is quiet and there is plenty of parking. And the price for staying fits nicely into our budget. Can't wait to return for our next visit.
It was a very nice stay in this cabin. Just the right size for our party of 7 people. Everything was so comfortable and relaxing. We hope to stay there next year. It was clean and had 2 full bathrooms which was convenient. It is close to all the activities on the lake. It was the nicest Big Bear cabin we have been at (we've stayed at 3 others in the past).
We had a pleasant stay at Leaf and Needle. The owner was easy to work with and available when we needed her. The layout of the house is good for multiple families, plenty of linens and the kitchen had all the appliances needed to make meals. It was very clean with beautiful floors and roomy furniture. It was easy to just bring in some groceries and relax. The home was conveniently close to the marina. We visited in mid-July so it was warm; the house has no fans so it was uncomfortable. The neighborhood is beautiful and quiet with all the custom looking cabins but the next door neighbor was very nosy, just waiting for us to be too loud or do something wrong. We had 3 generations visiting so ages between 8 and 60 and everyone was excited to see everybody. He made it uncomfortable to just sit on the porch swing or use the back deck while barbecuing. We did have some excitement while visiting - a bear cub came through the yard after dinner. Of course we weren't expecting to see anything like it, so no pictures. We had bbq the next night but no special visitors.
We had an awesome time in Big Bear and the Fawnskin property is within walking distance of everything! The neighborhood was nice and peaceful and the house was clean, beautiful, inviting and relaxing! We would definitely stay at Fawnskin again!
We have stayed here over 4 times in the last 1-1/2 yrs. sometimes with our Grandkids and other times with our siblings and the house can handle all ages and is an easy drive to everything.
