A week in the woods with no cell and no internet was one of the greatest weeks I have spent in a long time. We saw one vapor trail from a high flying plane and you could hear a few highway sounds in the distance, but the peace was amazing. We walked all around tree ponds and just enjoyed the beauty of Mississippi. Hot, yes. Humid, yes. But regardless it was a fantastic time. My wife and I were able to share the two bedroom mobile home with our best friends of 40-years for part of the week, then a few days alone with my bride of 33-years.
When you are in the wilderness there is always a possibility for a hiccup or two. The owners, who also live on the property, were quick to respond to assure we had the best possible stay. While very friendly and the hiccups were handled without any disruption to our stay. It was amazing.
On our last morning I wrote a Facebook post that didn't go out for an hour or so after being written because of lack of service. Perhaps you will enjoy what I said.
"I sit on the back porch of this wonderful place in the DeSoto National Forrest in MS. No cell, no internet at this place. A humming bird come by my head and it sounds like an AF C-130 in the quiet of the morning. The lilies on the pond are opening. The white with yellow center is a beautiful contrast to the pond filled with green lily pads. You can see the dew on the grass and the sun is just touching the tips of the tall pine trees. It is 7:00am. This will not post until we come out of the woods as we head home. Once again my phone will be buzzing and civilization will one again engulf me. All is God's Gift to me. As the crow noisily says good morning and goodbye, I rest in my Father's arms."
If you want to disconnect and enjoy peace, this is the place to go.
