My parents purchased our family vacation home in 1990 after several years of renting homes on The Sea Ranch and searching for the perfect home for us.
My father wanted a house in the forest and my mother wanted something close to the ocean. This home is the perfect blending of the two.
My father, 81, is a retired teacher and my mother, 80, worked for the State of California. They still manage the property with help from myself and my teenage son, Josh.
Catherine and Pat Salm purchased this house in 1990
Robinson Jeffers, a Carmel poet, said it well, 'the ocean gives perpetual music and the stone mountain its music of silence.'
We are blessed to be able to share our peaceful home with you. Since our house is located in the forest, we do not have the foot or road traffic the other places do. We rarely see people or cars in the area or on the trails nearby and appreciate the serenity.
The ocean, towns and beaches are closeby to explore and there are plenty of things to do in addition to just quietly relaxing in the redwoods.
Lovely, serene cabin with an ideal setting: sit quietly in the woods or just minutes away there's beaches and amenities in Sea Ranch and Gualala. The pictures don't do it justice and I pretty much camped out on the fabulous upstairs deck for hours at a time. Communication with owners was easy and timely. My boyfriend, dog, and I loved our stay so much over a holiday weekend we are rebooking!
We couldn't have asked for a more perfect spot to get away and have time to ourselves. The house is both stylish and practical and it's just plain fun. The surroundings feel like pretty deep woods, but the coast and beach are not far - a very short drive or a lovely walk through beautiful Sea Ranch. The owners have the place well stocked with cooking supplies and clean linens. Everything seemed well maintained. And they were great to deal with. Thank you for a totally restful and fun stay.
Beautiful forest surroundings, nearest house wasn't even close to visible. Kitchen was just as advertised, wifi strong, we brought our own AppleTV so didn't use cable.
Hot tub was small but nice. There is laundry too, but bring your own detergent!
There are 3 pools on Sea Ranch, Del Mar was nice and has separate saunas there is another somewhere with a co-ed sauna.
Ask the owners for two tags for cars if you are more than 3 as this is the maximum for Sea Ranch and they have strict rules!
Loved our stay, hopefully can visit again!
This place is a forest gem with all the amenities of home including a BBQ and hot tub! It is great for a romantic getaway Not far from the Sea Ranch Lodge and activities or the many beaches. It’s also close to Gualala and Annapolis Winery. We will be back! Thanks for the wonderful stay!
Moonraker House was great! The home was very clean (especially for a pet friendly house), nicely furnished, and we had everything we needed. Both decks were great for relaxing. The hot tub is older but comfortable and it was easy to enjoy a glass of wine and some cheese while relaxing in it, and was easy to get in and out of since it's sunken into the deck. The living room was very cozy with the fireplace and the view of the redwoods surrounding the house made it even cozier. Our little dog loved running up and down the stairs and enjoyed checking out the yard. Would definitely rent the Moonraker House again!
Sea Ranch is a great location for bird watching.
