About Benn Batterson
I was born and raised in Potter County. After meeting my wife and graduating from college we moved back to the area. The previous owner of Valley Vista of 35 years is a dear friend. After he decided to move closer to family and milder climates we were offered Dry Cabin.
Benn Batterson purchased this Cabin in 2015
Why Benn Batterson chose Abbott
We purchased this property as a Guest House for our retirement home. The privacy and quiet provides a peaceful setting

Much better then expected
We are astronomers and came to this cabin with hopes to see the skies in this dark zone area. We were not disappointed. We were able to set up near the bottom of the driveway in the field (farm) and got a beautiful shot of Jupiter and Venus from the East and the West. The North Pole was also easy to find from that area. The house itself is clean, modern and full of the comforts of life. I have Verizon Wireless and had 4G internet and was able to use my phone as a hotspot for my laptop. How cool is that? The cabin was reasonably priced and offered plenty of privacy with many comforts. The cabin windows opened and had a wonderful breeze. The bed, futon and furniture are well built and very comfortable. This is very close to Cherry Springs Park. Many thanks to the Patterson family for allowing us to stay in their beautiful home. We will be back.
Perfect setting. Dark Skies. Amazing hospitality. Great rental. 5+++
It was lovely. Benn was great to work with. Very flexible. Cabin exceeded our expectations! I wish we could have stayed longer but our change of schedules didn't allow that. Beautiful location close enough to make attractions but yet away from it all to. We will definitely be back!
Peaceful, beautiful, ideal!
It was our 2nd time at the cabin, we absolutely love everything about it. We recommend to anybody who need some peace in their life, far away from every day hustle! We hope to be back soon again!❤️
I loved my stay!
The cabin was so cozy and perfect for me and my husband. It gave us the feeling of being home away from home with the greatest wildlife views and perfect scenery from every direction. I will definitely be recommending this cabin.
Great Location to Explre the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania and Cherry Springs State Park
Dry Run Cabin was very clean and nicely appointed, and well-located to serve as a convenient base for exploring Pennsylvania’s Grand Canyon and Cherry Springs State Park. Cherry Springs was an easy 10-minute ride and the Grand Canyon less than a half-hour. Viewing the stars from the cabin’s deck was spectacular and one morning we felt we could almost reach out and touch the stars in Orion. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals and we enjoyed sitting at the table in the high-backed seats—very comfortable.
Perfect all around!
We spent a perfect fall weekend at the cabin and could not have asked for a better setting! GPS directions were easy to follow and the cabin was easy to find once we got back there. The cabin itself was clean and very well stocked, plenty of hot water and comfy bed! We had complete privacy which is just what we were looking for! We loved how quiet it was and how beautifully clear the night sky was. While there we checked out Cherry Springs State Park, went hiking, saw 3 black bears (on the road one night), and so many other animals. We hit the timing just right as the leaves were changing and had fantastic weather. After leaving we felt peaceful and refreshed! We would come back in a heartbeat as this is a truly special place! Perfect, perfect, perfect! Thank you so much Benn!
