I was born and raised in Potter County. After meeting my wife and graduating from college we moved back to the area. The previous owner of Valley Vista of 35 years is a dear friend. After he decided to move closer to family and milder climates we were offered Dry Cabin.
Benn Batterson purchased this cabin in 2015
We purchased this property as a Guest House for our retirement home. The privacy and quiet provides a peaceful setting
Dry Cabin borders 250,000 acres of State Forest and is a ten minute drive from Cherry Springs State Park. We have the peace and quiet you are needing
We booked this little cabin last summer for a no-frills anniversary getaway with our dog. It was so much better than we expected. The cabin is teeny-tiny, but it has everything you need for a quiet weekend in the great outdoors. A tiny cabin means more time outside! The owner was very nice, and stopped in just after arrival to check in with us. We didn't see him again for the rest of the stay, so he definitely gave us our privacy. After 5 short days, we felt like we'd completely disconnected & de-stressed from our city/corporate life. On our way home, we were already talking about next time we could come up & how much longer we could stay.
We were miles & miles from cell service, so next time we'll print out some directions to stores/gas/hiking trails. Almost ran out of gas after driving through 40 miles of forest! Note to any future travelers, that Coastal gas station is your best bet...just stop! :)
The only small issue we had was that the yard was a bit overgrown, so there were more bugs than necessary. But we got to work & yanked out much of the overgrowth in about 15 minutes. It's really in the middle of the woods, so overgrowth is to be expected. I think we'll just throw our weed-wacker in the truck for the next trip :)
The cabin was cozy, quite and very clean. The cabin is only ten minutes from Cherry Springs State Park. This is a wonderful place to star gaze and was blessed with two nights of crystal clear skies. The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Thank you Benn and family for your hospitality.
My husband, myself, and our dog stayed at the cabin recently for a long weekend. The cabin was well stocked and very clean upon arrival. We enjoyed a star gazing event at Cherry Springs Park, but had a great view of the stars from the cabin. We hiked at Lyman Run State Park, which is also close by. Benn had introduced himself and let us know that we did not have to rush to leave the day we were checking out. We plan on returning sometime during one of the upcoming fall seasons. We would love to see this place when all of the leaves are changing colors.
We very much enjoyed staying at this very clean cabin in a wonderfully quiet area. The cabin had everything we needed and a nice sitting area outside. We were close to Cherry Springs State Park and saw an amazing night sky and learned a lot during their stargazing program. The cabin is also close to many other great state parks and is surrounded by state forest land. We were so happy we stayed here rather than along Route 6. The cabin is on a back road where we heard birds singing and saw deer, and it was exactly what we were looking for in beautiful Potter County.
Melissa and I loved our time in Benn & Thankful's Cabin. It is extremely well furnished, clean, and cozy. The living room, kitchen, and loft bedroom are very spacious. It was an absolute pleasure to come back to the cabin after a full day of hiking in Colton State Park along the Turkey Path and taking in the view from the vista's above the Pine Creek Gorge. It is also a very short drive to Cherry Springs State Park where we were able to get a spectacular view of the night sky. Melissa and I cannot wait to come back to this lovely romantic cabin. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone interested in staying in beautiful Potter County.
We are located in North Central Pennsylvania surrounded by the Susquehannock State Forest. We have direct access to snowmobile trails and horseback riding. The Pennsylvania Grand Canyon and hiking trail is 30 minutes away. We are ten minutes from Cherry Springs State Park
