About Kelly Martin
Bruce grew up in Wisconsin and went to college at Stout. One of his professors told him "Work where you want to live". The most beautiful place I have every been is Stanley, Idaho." Bruce came out West and settled in Ketchum, Idaho in 1979. An Interior Designer, Bruce has a flourishing business in Sun Valley. Kelly moved from Gig Harbor, Wash. to Ketchum in 1984. Kelly works at Sun Valley Company. Our two grown children grew up at the cabin learning to fish, Backpack, mountain bike, dirt bike, build a fire and appreciate the outdoors with all the area has to offer.
Kelly Martin purchased this Cabin in 2001
Why Kelly Martin chose Stanley
Bruce and I love the Stanley area. Only 1 1/4 hours away from our home, we are lucky to have a :slice of Heaven" on the Salmon River. After using our extended family's cabin in Stanley for years, we finally, along with another family, bought this cabin five miles downriver at Casino Creek. At the time, the cabin was a 20 x 15 foot room with a tiny bathroom and loft. It had one door and one window! We added the large deck, the bedroom, extended the loft, added windows, built the shed and we are always updating every season. In 2013 we purchased our partners interest. We own the land, we do not lease from BLM, like most properties along the river. Casino Creek was a Dairy farm that was purchased in the 1880's as part of the historical Homestead Act. Originally 400 acres, it has been sold twice before us. The second owners purchased in the early 1950's and sub divided the river lots into 1/2 acre parcels. We have two of the 18 river lots.
What makes this Cabin unique
Summer and Fall are the times to visit Stanley as the weather is beautiful. Often the coldest place in the lower 48 states in winter, summer temperatures are warm and dry with cool evenings. Fall offers beautiful Indian summer days and cold nights; perfect for late mornings and relaxing evenings inside. A good day spend outdoors enjoying your favorite activity, a game of horseshoes, a good campfire, and time in the hammock makes for a pretty good day at the cabin. Everything you need is there; often times we never leave the property in a day. There is so much reward in hanging out on the deck watching the river go by. We see salmon in the fall migrating, rafters, stand up paddle boarders floating by. Fisherman on rafts casting for trout. It's all good!

2nd visit to this beautiful spot
There is so much wonderful hiking, fishing and things to do around Stanley and the cabin is a perfect home base to come back to after a day outdoors - comfortable, clean, with everything we need to cook and a great deck and river to sit around in the evening. This was the second year my husband and I spent a week at Bruce and Kelly’s beautiful cabin and we hope to come back again.
Amazing cabin right on the Salmon River
The cabin was perfect. Very clean, with great amenities including a great Weber grill, fire pit, and fully equipped kitchen. The location is right on the salmon river and very close to the town of Stanley. We went for a fly fishing trip, the cabin was a great home base for us to explore the area, ironically we caught more fish on the river behind the house than we did anywhere else. Kelly was a fantastic host and was great at keeping in touch and answering questions, and offering great recommendations. We can’t wait to go back!
Thank you James for your really nice review. We are happy your stay met your expectations.
We have had the cabin for 19 years and take pride in making it a place that people want to be and stay. Guests can stay on the property all day and have a fabulous time either fishing, hiking, relaxing, grilling, reading on the deck. Or adventure out as you did and come home to a comfortable home.
Thank you and we hope to have you visit again!
This cabin is designed for romance. Also it is close to good restaurants, fishing and hiking. The Sawtooth mountains lend a spectacular backdrop to the setting. We’ll be back!
Get away from it all!
A cabin in the woods by a rushing river. A snug, well-maintained, charming property. Private yet close to area activities and restaurants. Enjoyed time with my family and got two books read on the comfortable, river-facing deck. This is a great choice for either doing nothing or choosing to take part in all the area outdoor activities. Thanks for sharing this wonderful getaway hideaway with us!
Thank you Susie for choosing Little Casino Creek Cabin for your stay near Stanley, Idaho. We appreciate your review and are happy to know your family enjoyed being there. It’s just as you say; easy to get into town; relaxing and offers so much outdoor adventure if one so chooses! We hope to host you again,
Very clean, small cabin. Perfect for two.
We really enjoyed our short stay in the sawtooth mountains. The cabin was comfortable for two, and with the loft I suppose could also accommodate a couple of youger kids. The king bed in the bedroom was very comfortable, and the little neighborhood on the Salmon River was nice and quiet.
The area around Stanley is beautiful, and our weather was great! This area of Idaho definitely deserves more exploration.
Clearly a well maintained cabin with all the essentials. Close to many trails in the Sawtooth.
Great cabin! We spent most of our time on the trails, but if you are planning staying put and want total silence, you should note that you can hear the cars and trucks on the road across the river if you sit outside. Not a big problem but noted.
Having a cabin right on the Salmon river is unique. There are limited privately owned properties on the Salmon river in the Sawtooth National Recreation Area and near Stanley. The Highway follows the river and there is highway noise at times. This is the first review in five years that anyone has mentioned it. Inside the cabin there is no road noise and thank you for noting that. Given all the wonderful attributes of Casino Creek Cabin, we feel this doesn’t deter anyone from enjoying their stay here. However, if you did want complete silence we could not promise that.
