About Suzy Schneider

I grew up in the Imperial Valley of Southern California. My husband and I have been married for 34 years, and live in Fairfield, CA. We are both still working full time and try to get to Lake Tahoe as often as possible. We enjoy playing golf, working around our home, going out with friends, and checking out new places.

Suzy Schneider purchased this house in 2014

Why Suzy Schneider chose Lake Tahoe North Shore

I grew up in the dry, hot desert and fell in love with Lake Tahoe when I saw it for the first time when I was 12 years old. I was moved by its beauty - the trees and the clean & clear blue water. I loved the freedom that came with exploring around the Lake and through the woods as a child.

My husband and I wanted a second home within a couple hours driving distance from our primary residence and we knew that Lake Tahoe was the place! We owned a small cabin in South Lake Tahoe for 10 years, and sold it in order to find a new home in North Lake Tahoe with more amenities. We think North Lake Tahoe is prettier and less crowded, and has many more options for skiing and golf. We are very happy that we made the switch.

What makes this house unique

We looked at several homes around the area, and when we saw this one we knew it was the right one. The neighborhood felt right because the streets were clean & wide, and the homes well kept. The contemporary architecture and high ceilings appealed to me. I fell in love with the large windows in the living room and kitchen, which lets in lots of great light and the beautiful views. The previous owners did a wonderful job with upgrades and maintaining the home inside and out. This home has all the necessary comforts to make you feel like home-sweet-home, yet it has a resort type feeling with its clean lines and updated finishes.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The house is very clean and perfect for a large family or two small families. There are lots of tall windows that let in natural light. We especially liked the patio areas, spa, modern bathrooms, and indoor laundry. The kids liked playing in the open backyard that's fenced too. There's an upper loft above the living room area with a ladder that was kinda in the way- but can be removed. We would definitely stay again if visiting the north Tahoe area.

Great week, will return!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time. There were 4 of us and we stayed 8 days in January ’17, primarily as a ski trip.

The house was very nice, exactly as pictured. Several in the group remarked that the house felt bigger and more open in person than from the photos. Everything was neat, clean and well organized. The kitchen was well stocked with supplies like pots, pans, silverware, paper towels, garbage bags, plates, cups, everything you could possibly need – even a solid selection of non-perishable things like condiments, soups, mac-n-cheese and Quaker oatmeal (among others!).

Full cable lineup, Wi-Fi, and a stereo system that really kicks if you like to listen to loud music while getting amped up in the morning! Selection of games and DVDs. Full linens and towels and also washer / dryer were also super convenient. Front porch is a cozy relaxing place to sit and enjoy the beauty and serenity of this gorgeous area. Garage really helped with not having to dig out and clean the car off each morning (it snowed nearly 10 feet in the 8 days we were there). For some reason, we didn’t use the jacuzzi until the 4th or 5th day – what a mistake on our part, that thing is Awesome, and a very good way to relax after riding all day in deep snow.

Short walk/drive (maybe 3/4 mile) to a 711 and pizza place with really good food – we had wings, sandwiches, burgers and beer. Ordered there multiple times. A number of other options also within a very short (3-5 mile) drive, including a grocery story (Safeway) about 3 miles down the road. Several places to access the beach, all about a 4-5 minute drive. About 25-30 minutes to downtown Truckee. About 20-25 minutes to Northstar and Squaw, depending on morning traffic, snow conditions, whether its weekday or weekend / holiday.

As someone who rents very often, the best part of this vacation was definitely the responsiveness and communication of the owner. I had read a slew of nightmare reviews on other places citing the “management company” did not answer and address issues timely. That is not the case here. I was in constant communication with Suzy, keeping her updated, asking her questions. She generally responded within a few minutes, and even checked in on me several times too, to make sure the driveway was plowed, everything was working, etc ..

Sorry to be so long winded, but wanted to make sure I gave this listing its due credit. Do not hesitate to reserve this place. I would certainly return!

Perfect getaway

  • 5 of 5

Suzy's house made for a wonderful weekend getaway for my girlfriend and me. Everything was set up perfectly, and the place was simply adorable. We made use of the kitchen staples, the hot tub — my girlfriend was so comfy she napped for three hours in front of the fireplace.

While it was just the two of us, it could have easily accommodated six or more folks. And the sledding hill directly across the street was a blast. Couldn't have asked for a better time!

Great home, will stay again.

  • 5 of 5

This is a really beautiful and very well maintained home in a great location, and it's obvious the owners take pride in ownership. The home was fully stocked with everything we needed and super comfortable, and the private hot tub was just what we needed after after a long day on the slopes. The home was perfect for a quick ski getaway for our small family, but could have easily accommodated 6 in comfort. We did have one small issue come up during our stay but it was addressed immediately by the owners who were super responsive and accommodating. We would definitely stay again.

Comfortable and Well-Sticked

  • 5 of 5

The layout of the home was nice and in a great location. We appreciated that the furnishings were comfortable and looked good (no generic Ikea stuff, and not too "cabin-in-the-woodsy" either). The place was well-stocked, I think the only thing I could not find was a cookie sheet - but they had everything else you might need. Lots of extra towels available. The gas stove really kept us warm! I'd stay again for sure.

Owner's Response: I am glad that you enjoyed our home. Yes I do have cookie sheet and muffin pans, normally they are in drawer under the oven, but things get moved around - sorry they were "hiding" from you. Please let me know when you are ready for another stay. Kind regards, Suzy

Great Property

  • 4 of 5

Overall we had a great time in this house. The owners were very helpful and responsive to our inquiries. We got a huge storm and stayed one night without power, the fireplace was our only source of heat. Suzy, the owner, was in touch with us and kept me update about the power situation.

For parents we little kids the fireplace was tricky, my 3 years old was running around all the time and I was afraid that he would accidentally burn his hand. We put some chairs around so he wouldn't get too close.

We couldn't use the hot tube either, the access was not the best because of the snow but again we got a big storm during our stay.

I totally recommend this house and will definitely stay again!

Owner's Response: You were there for one of the biggest storms of the season! I am glad we stayed in touch and grateful that you "powered through" the high winds and power outages in Lake Tahoe. Incredible dumping of snow during a month now called "Janu-buried". As much as we love snow, hopefully there won't be as much the next time you stay and you can use the hot tub. Thanks for making it through and staying in touch with us. Best wishes always, Suzy

Super Cozy, Comfortable, and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 5 stayed at Suzy's house for 4 days. The house was warm and cozy upon arrival, it smelled like lavender actually! There was a nice local sledding hill for the kids right across the street. The hot tub was also warm when we arrived and was the highlight of the house. A hot tub is a definite must after a long day of skiing. Suzy is a pleasure to deal with and her home is very welcoming. The fire place in the living room is great to sit next to while looking out at the snow through huge windows. We got snowed in one day and we were just fine with that! The beds were very comfortable and the kids loved the loft bedroom above the living room. We will definitely be heading back to stay at Suzy's place again.

Owner's Response: I am so glad my home worked well for your stay. You were there in the middle of what is now being called "Janu-buried"! The snowfall was incredible. Thank you for being wonderful guests that handled the conditions brought on by the amazing winter weather. I'd love to have you back anytime. Best wishes, Suzy
