This property is owned by the four sisters that grew up in the main house. They have inherited the property and now rent the cottage, a separate building. The four sisters, Deborah, Rebecca, Pru, and Charity all live in New England and use this family home as a second home for themselves and their children.
Jamie and Becky Anderson purchased this cottage in 1955
Clean, quiet, a spacious backyard, and right off the bike path - perfect for our small family. The owners were kind, helpful and were available if we had a questions.
We agree with everything that has been mentioned before and would emphasise a few other things. First, the location is better than we hoped for as it is set off the road and not overlooked, therefore it is very peaceful. The shade meant it was also cool and airy. Our 16 year old son slept on the air bed and was very comfortable. The cottage was bigger than we thought.
We didn't have a car, catching the Peter Pan bus from Boston South to Woods Hole where Jamie kindly gave us a lift (it is a short and easy walk) and then hiring bikes (reached by taking the trolleybus that runs from Woods Hole). Cycling along the Shining Sea cycle path to Falmouth via Nobska lighthouse was a delight and only about 4 miles each way. Completing the whole path is well worth it.
We'd also suggest taking the bikes on the ferry to Oak's Bluff and following the coastal path to Edgartown.
Overall, an incredible 8 days. Thank you Jamie and Becky.
Very comfortable and peaceful setting. A short walk to the village of Woods Hole one way and a short walk to a private beach the other way. Perfect for a couple and well equipped. We would definitely go back again.
The cottage is bright, well-supplied, and the location was perfect. A short walk to the beach in one direction. A short walk to Woods Hole with its restaurants and picturesque harbor. We enjoyed them all. The checker board was waiting and along with a comfortable back yard for reading or watching the birds, and time at the beach we had a wonderful relaxing week. Highly recommend for two.
We had a wonderful stay at the cottage - this is how holidays used to be. Come here for a relaxing and bucolic time. The nearby beach is beautiful and peaceful, Wood's Hole is fascinating and welcoming, and the cycle paths and ocean views on the Cape stunning. The cottage is charming and has many thoughtful touches such as coffee capsules. We hope we can visit again!
