Los Gatos (the cats in Spanish) area had a local reputation as an arts colony, attracting painters, musicians, writers, actors and their bohemian associates as residents over the years. The violinist Yehudi Menuhim lived there as a boy; the actresses Joan Fontaine and Olivia de Havilland (sisters) were graduates of Los Gatos High School, John Steinbeck wrote the Grape of Wrath there (the location is now located in Monte Sereno), and Beat hero Neal Cassady lived there in the 1950s. Downtown Los Gatos has retained and restored many of its Victorian-era homes and commercial buildings. Our property is only a couple of minutes walk to downtown Los Gatos, 20 minutes to Santa Cruz beach, heart of silicon valley and 60 miles from downtown San Francisco. The property has private gate, trees and fenced backyard for privacy and enjoyment.

My family and I very much enjoyed our stay here. The location is perfect and very close to the downtown area with lots of restaurants and shops. The home is quiet, clean, comfortable and very relaxing... and the backyard was perfect for our Pug! Communication with the owners was excellent before, during and after our stay and I would not hesitate to stay here again or highly recommend it to anyone who is in the area! Thank you for allowing our family to stay in your home - it was truly one of the highlights of our vacation this year.
Our family really enjoyed this place! My first priority is cleanliness and it got an A + for that! Also the property is very well located to town, as well as being close to running paths to Vasona and more! It was very quiet and the sheets were the softest, highest thread count I've ever slept in! John the property manager was awesome- 5 Stars for him too! Thank you Sid!
We highly recommend this villa so close to restaurants and shopping in Los Gatos. It was perfect for the two of us. The home was very clean and comfortable. The bathtub/shower was not a problem for us but could be if you had some mobility issues. There was nothing to hold on to when stepping from a wooden step into the tub. Everything else was ideal for our stay. We especially enjoyed sitting out on the front terrace in the evenings. During the day, besides enjoying the shopping and eating in Los Gatos, we explored the surrounding area. We took 17 Mile Drive seeing the lone cypress and exploring golf courses at Pebble Beach. We also watched the seals sunbathing on the rocks, hiked in the red wood forest and toured Stanford during our stay. We hope to return to this vila in the near future!
Our family of two adults and two kids (ages 4 and 6) stayed for three nights and couldn't be happier with our experience. We were in the area to visit family and it was just what we needed. It was clean, quiet, lovely and so close to town. We loved that there was a fenced yard for the kids to play in and we loved having a central meeting place for our extended family to converge (they live in Santa Cruz and Los Altos). One of our days was spent with our relatives meeting us at the house, making a picnic lunch and then going to Oak Meadow Park to ride the train and carousel. I should also mention that there is a huge soaking tub in the bathroom that we loved! Sid was wonderful to work with and we felt right at home. Thank you and we hope to be back again when we visit family.
The location of the house is ideal. One of the appealing features of Los Gatos is that once you're downtown, you can walk anywhere. This private hacienda has the perfect location for that. The accommodations themselves were comfortable and clean. The house has its unique charm. The kitchen was adequate, but could use basic condiments (salt and pepper) and a tea kettle. It is a bit of poetic license to call this a two-bedroom, as the second "bedroom" is a sizable nook of the living room sectioned off with folding screens. There is a closet in that nook. This arrangement worked for us, but it was a surprise.
Overall, a very good stay.
The furnishings, the fully equipped kitchen, nature garden and privacy is ideal. The beds are absolutely comfortable and the house so centrally located that a morning walk down town to fabulous restaurants and quaint shopping is soooo easy. If you are going to California, check out this property. Coming from the North East , I can tell you we felt safe and comfortable . The owner was kind , and constantly accessible for anything we needed. The price for a week is reasonable and affordable , absolutely clean and comfy. You feel like it's a home away from home! Definitely book this property. We had the best time with our family in this home!!!!
