Being rather partial to the cottage myself, I can only repeat what friends and guests have stated over the years always with great accolades. To a certain extent disbelief because they have never seen such a place. For all of its 1500 square feet there is nothing really missing. It is a perfect place for a couple with or without guests. Second floor Master bedrm with king size bed and1/2 bath, Cathedral ceiling Living Rm with woodburning like stove for those chilly nights, Den with sofa which can be made up as a queen, shipboard like cabin with full size bed, Full bath, Laundry/Powder Rm combo, Dining area and Kitchen. There is also a large deck for sunning, dining or gathering stardust from aloft.
Well travelled, educated gentleman with a propensity for traveling by Sea to extant places under sail. Collect antiques and love the old world ways. I am an accomplished woodworker and boatwright and put this place together over a 4 year period for myself. Currently semi retired and maintain a fleet of wooden sailboats called the "Rainbow Fleet" which are depicted frequently in Nantucket nomenclature and photos.
Duncan L Fog purchased this cottage in 1995
I have been sailing to and visiting Nantucket since childhood. I have several boats that I keep just down the lane from here so it was about access and proximity to them and the Harbor that pulled me here. I love hearing and seeing the harbor activity, sunrises and sunsets in the wee hours of morn or eve on my walks to the water and along the beach.
Flexible start/end times due to the difficulty of gaining Steamship reservations for your car.
What a pleasant surprise to find this refuge for a wonderful weekend away from the mainland and be embraced by such a warm and wonderful place that you have created. We will be back next year for a longer stay. Thank you so much.
The house is located in Shimmo/Monomoy (indian names) and is fairly rural in feel. State Forest to the South, tall trees of pine around the property, with dirt roads that lead through the area. Great walking in the early morning hours or eve for an evening sunset on the beach which is 10 minutes away. We are in close proximity to downtown 10 minutes or so by bicycle. Car could take longer dependent upon traffic and time of year. And a one minute walk to the bus stop on Polpis Rd.
There is much to do and see here depending upon your individual desires and passions. Waterborne activities are my passion and expertise and have at my disposal most any option you could desire. I have a couple of kayaks always at the ready and other craft as well.
You are welcome to contact me about these options if you wish.

The cottage is fairly wide open for rent and new to the public market. I am reasonably flexible especially about longer stays or non traditional start/end dates anytime during the week to facilitate arrival departure issues on Ferry or via Air travel. If time is short from booking to arrival then payment in full is required prior. For 2 week or longer there is a proviso that the cottage will be cleaned by my staff each week and cost shall be borne by the renter.
